I give praise when it's merited and criticism when it's warranted as well. I try to be as fair and as balanced as possible etc. Yes away to Derry was a tough game on paper and yes we were missing a couple of key players.

That sort of performance served up today though is totally unacceptable if you're a team with any sense of ambition of doing anything this year.

Hopefully it's just a bad day at the office and that we get the wagon back on the road, but Cork football is still susceptible of churning out these performances of absolute junk when you least expect it. That's something for serious concern going forwards.

Tbh after that we are better off staying where we are.

Kerry will rip us a new one in Championship if we get that far.

A good tough physical contest from the Cats is what we need in Nowlan Park now, and after the disaster in the football the win would do nicely as well.😄 Going back to the football i hope that result today doesn't destroy the players confidence levels, and destroy all the positive momentum built up beforehand in the previous games.

Awful from the footballers. Thought they would lose but not like that. Midfield wiped out.

20 gone and the hurlers are 2 points up, should be more though. Conditions are not great.

Always nice to beat Kilkenny, especially aaway.

Great win...what I like about this team when it looks like they could be caught they can raise it up another gear...

That was a good win our record in Nowlan Park hasn't been that great over the years, so bearing that in mind it was a good day's work.

A word on Kilkenny i would never write them off and with Leinster being as weak as it is they're as good as in the last four already. That's the thing though Leinster being as poor as it is probably doesn't do them any favours when they face a team after coming through the minefield in Munster.

That and perhaps a lack of forwards with that x factor about them as well Eddie Keher, Chunky O'Brien, the now disgraced DJ Carey, Charlie Carter, Henry Shefflin etc.

Those type of players don't seem to coming through the production line in Kilkenny as often as they used to. I'd still be wary of the Cats though especially if we we play each other in an all Ireland final.

I would have every confidence in beating Kilkenny in Croke Park. They are limited up front.

Great win that. Didn't panic when Kilkenny got back into it. Encouraging from that point of view.

Ye're looking like a shoo in for the all ireland,,again!

There are no shoo ins for the All Ireland - any reasoned opinion knows that.

Biggest loss in the league for Cork footballers in 96 years I believe?

Really! Will ye need to have perfect weather! Can you be guaranteed to turn up in second half! What if it's not Kilkenny! Kilkenny are a work in progess. There are bigger fish and hurdles to concern Cork. Be careful of the arrogance along the way.

We've beaten Kilkenny in 1999 and 2004 in the rain after all.😉 I don't think anything that out of order was said by anyone either. Kilkenny just aren't producing the quality forwards of intercounty standard that they did in the past in more recent years.

As well as that it might need to be a Leinster team, Galway or Waterford we need to play in the final to break the senior all Ireland drought in hurling. I just think there seems to be bit of a hoodo with the other Munster teams in all Ireland finals at this stage.

You might look back and realise I was replying to a specific post.

So by your own admission Cork would want to be beating Kilkenny to have any ambition of an All Ireland? Yet you're offended when somebody else suggests the same?

Was there perfect weather today? Were they at home? Were they at full strength?

Do some of ye have a problem understanding posts. The arrogance, from some, is blinding.

You are clearly confusing confidence and arrogance.

Playing in rain? As already mentioned, we've beaten better Kilkenny teams in the rain - a rather poor analogy by you in fairness.

What if it's not Kilkenny? - then I wouldn't be confident, as it would probably be a Munster team and there's not a whole lot between a few of us - as the Munster and All Ireland Championship has proven over the past few years - with Liam going to a Munster team so often.

My point was I would be confident of beating Kilkenny in Croker - I stand by that. Cork have a fine squad of players and are going in the right direction. Kilkenny are very limited in the forward line and I really would think Cork would beat them. I doubt any Munster team would fear this Kilkenny team either.

Cork will have to get out of Munster first - which is going to be very hard - given how good the other teams are - again, no arrogance on show here, simply reality.

As i say it's great to emerge after a tough physical battle with Kilkenny in Nowlan Park as the victors. I think Ben O'Connor seems to be instilling a winning mentality and that we go out and win the entire lot League, Munster and all Ireland into players. The newcomers in Hugh O'Connor and the two Walsh's had great games to be fair Will Buckley also did well.

It's early days yet but we seem to be unearthing forwards that are ready for the rough and tumble stuff. Although i'd still have Limerick as favourites for the all Ireland at this stage, but we'll have a say in things as well once we hopefully make it out of Munster.

Even a Kilkenny poster on their thread said that they fear that the lack of quality in the current Kilkenny team could be badly exposed in the summer. That said though a semi final appearance for them is pretty much guaranteed and win that and they're 70 minutes away from an all Ireland.

Might not be this year, Galway moving well and seem to have unearthed some good players. They could put up an overdue challenge for Leinster.

If anything ever summed up Cork football its last week or so

Last week we will rattle anyone in country.

This week we might not even get to Munster Final.

    Cork football right there

Yeah Galway are looking good right now but Kk are there or thereabouts too. They were also damn close to Tipp in the semi last year. I feel lack of depth off the bench caught them. They still have great forwards just that they need a tiny bit more off the bench. They could do a job on anyone tbh particularly in the semi.

Huw Lalor and Billy Ryan are big losses, and TJ is another year older. Look like a few good additions there too but the jury is out on the team as a whole for this year. Not writing them off completely, but I think they had better chances the last couple of years that they didn't take.

I expect Limerick and Cork to be strong, and Clare will be interesting. A more competitive Leinster with away trips to Dublin and Galway could make it that bit more difficult for Kilkenny.

I read that Alan Connolly was interviewed on TG4 after the match on Sunday and said we'd win the All-Ireland. This coming from a man that did a disappearing act in the AI fina last year when he was needed.

I really wish Cork players (past and present) would stay away from microphones and tape recorders and just get on with playing hurling.

I believe he was asked what the goal was and he said something to the effect of - to keep on winning, win the league, win Munster, and then win all Ireland.
