Hadn't checked prices for a while, but see that refinery price for kerosene and diesel has jumped 25% since about 10th January with half of that in the past 10 days.

War mongering Trump has now started his war against Iran, so oil price and refining margins are likely to jump on Monday.

We'll see the usual tabloid media (and the types of people who believe everything tabloids print) whining about a quick increase in fuel prices, but increases likely at pumps next week are related to the jump in the past 10 days.

If the markets push prices higher next week, expect forecourt and kero price to jump again in before mid March.

Ordered 500L for €497 this morning in Kerry

My thinking is that oil supply is going to be hit with this Iranian war and prices are going to go up as soon as suppliers are back on the office on Monday morning.

I did the same last year when the US hit Iran and prices took a long time to come close to what I had paid.

The forecourt / kero jump next week will relate to the refinery jump from the last 10 days.

Whatever happens to oil markets on Monday will be a further additional jump in mid March.

Could be near €600 for 500L

But we're coming into spring and summer and hopefully this will be a short war, but the other side is trump might have started something that will go on for a lot longer.

so come Monday or even today, will oil prices in Ireland just shoot up, or will there be a delay of a few days. I guess the former.

Last summer was short and it was an immediate jump and it took a long time to come down.

An old saying, prices go up in the elevator but come down by the stairs.

So many people seem to think that the oil price is the only thing that moves fuel prices.

The fact is that refining costs are now far more volatile than oil prices.

Historically, before Ukraine war, refining fees were really boring and went from about $5 to $15.

In 2025, diesel / kerosene refining fees were between $16 and $48 and unusually, stayed stubbornly high in summer (av $30) and jumped to $48 in November before dropping to $20 and now going over $30 again.

The funny thing is, it's DREADFULLY easy to check these figures, but so-called journalists in the media just can't be bothered to do a basic journalistic check and prefer the sensationalist sh1te angle that feeds into the narrative that prices rise immediately and drop slowly, and far too many people fall for that rubbish.

Sadly, it just shows how bad journalism has become these days

I know all that I also that supply will be disrupted with a ME war and that will cause prices to rocket .

    Ms

I had someone who has a forcourt today say they had put the prices at there pumps up today as the boss said to do so. He said it was the first time they ever put prices up on a Saturday. How true or not that is I do not know. He could have been bullshitting for all I know.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Local garages here have been adding a cent every Friday the last two months, one is at 179.9 for both, I'm so glad I don't have to buy it anymore.

EDP15 still working for Top Oil

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,406 ✭✭✭reubenreuben

Just ordered from click oil. Still at 94c a litre for 500l. At least a 5 day wait for delivery though so they must be busy. Normally it's 1 to 3 days.

This 15e off worked for me on 500l, taking my price down to 484e - happy enough with that cheers @wassie

Weirdly Top Oil seem to exclude Celbridge and Maynooth only from delivery in North Kildare, as looks like they're cheapest with that discount.

I wasn't going to order until Easter, and 500l will only barely fit in the tank now, but feel I should go ahead given the current events.

Do ye think it will jump immediately if I even wait until mid-week?

I wouldn't necessarily accept what's on their website with regards to areas they deliver to. The same thing happened to me here in Donegal a couple of years ago. The cheapest suppliers website made no mention of my town or anywhere within 10km but when I rang them I was able to place the order and had it delivered next day. So give Top Oil a call and check the delivery areas just to be sure.

Just tried to order online with Top oil with code EDP15 at €484 for 500L, keep getting An unexpected error occurred when it comes to next stage paying, address details is as far as I can get.

    Mr oil €489

    Certa €499 with warm15

    (Wexford)

Edit. Went with Mr oil instead for €489 for the sake of a €5 , no problem on there on line site to order.

likwise in Kerry, just got 200 litres for €200 from Kingdom Oil in Castleisland yesterday (its a bit more expensive for a smaller amount), my oil tank was half full so couldn't take a full refill. Cathal Berry posted a week ago that US military were moving ships and planes closer to the Gulf and this only spelled one thing, higher oil prices, advising everyone to top up oil and diesel/petrol. Good advice, it was what prompted me to top up yesterday.

On a better note diesel is still only €1.67 in Castleisland at the self service station opposite Lidl! Topped that up too.

Certa Dublin 800 litres with TESCO30 for €777.85, 97.23c/L + 388 extra Tesco points. Should keep me going until 2028, hopefully all this will be over by then.

Wow you do well to keep you going till 2028.

That Tesco30 code i wasn't aware of, would have brought certa down to €489 but would have got club card points to, never mind ordered with Mr oil now.

The top oil code worked this morning on 1000L order, so maybe not available on smaller orders.

Yep, as @SCOOP 64 stated, not working on anything now so it is not order amount related….plus the cost has gone up from €954 (with code working) to €1,015 (code not accepted).
