I think you can cancel and resubmit. You could just paste everything else in again.

As long as you’ve wrote them in the text box, you should be ok. They’ll contact down the line if you pass the interview for proof along with references, vetting, etc. I only uploaded my degree certificate and not my final year transcript results so will probably have to send it down the line.

Would it be advisable to make my employment history duties relate to the Executive Officer capability framework or Executive Officer general duties from the candidate booklet ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 200 ✭✭Capyberna

A few people on Reddit in the Civil Service page said to do this with either.

I did it a little where I could with my bullet points. Including buzz words from the EO list of general duties in the second page of competition booklet, like team work, collating, training etc.

I imagine a lot of your key words in your employment history will naturally overlap with either the duties or capabilities without even realising. Mine did a little anyways!

Really they need to fully relate to the capabilities for the interview stage.

Hi all, Just a quick one. Would working in the Irish Prison Service as Prison Clerical Officer qualify me for the interdepartment stream?

you could email pas office. Did you list your qualifications? If yes, they technically do not check until you pass the interview stage.

interview soon :) wondering if anyone had any strange questions asked? Trying hard to get my examples sorted

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 200 ✭✭Capyberna

It’s so crazy to think how slow the process is and that the competition opened in 2024 and still you and so many are waiting this long for an interview!

Reddit has a lot of information on potential questions and I think there is a thread called questions eo and heo may be asked! I think like any interview it’s hard to 100% prepare.

How many EO positions are available per county? Applying for Westmeath and wondering if it's a waste of time i.e thousands of applications and feck all actual EO vacancies.

I think this answers it! This was in the EO 2024 thread and was correct as of a June 2024. Can’t remember what page it’s on and it seems to have been deleted since when I try click it..

Definitely at a major advantage if you could do the commute to Dublin by train from Mullingar. Only about an hour. Several in my father’s office commuting from Westmeath but it is 3 days WFH.

I withdrew my application as I wanted to upload again with my degree etc. Thought it would give me the option, now it’s not letting me apply as it states I withdrew. Anyone know away around this. Feeling very silly right now.

Email/call them and bear in mind the closing date is 3pm today.

Hi during the Application Process at the choose location stage, I noticed that if you select counties other than Dublin you could choose two towns.

However if you select Dublin there wasn't a breakdown.

Would the panel note your address living outside Dublin and select somewhere commutable or is just touch luck. Example if you lived North Wicklow would they place you CityWest / Balbriggan or somewhere really difficult to commute to.

Thanks for any advice on this.

How long until we hear anything back?

Anyone else worried about not doing well / passing the tests? I’ll thankfully have the CO competition as a second chance to get into the CS if this doesn’t go well.

I’d be very weak with question recognition in maths but found the sample test okay and hoping similar questions will be asked. Not great with the other two categories either… my logic and IQ level is pretty low.

The only practice I’ve done is the sample test on Public Jobs….

I’m feeling quite down as I can’t secure a job since graduating. Two “we’re sorry we’re not taking your application any further” emails today.

I imagine some point this week or next week at the latest. The tests are due for March.

Sorry another quick question! Are the tests to be taken at time and date appointed by PAS or can you sit them at a time that suits you. Just hoping not to take time off work.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 200 ✭✭Capyberna

No! We’ll be given a week max/several days to get them done. You can sit all tests on the same day or different days. Depends how you feel about them.

The tests are pretty heavy to do all together imo but then again I’ve no industry experience and naturally not very bright haha.

You do a room scan for each test and the webcam/computer camera will be on during the tests.

Definitely. This is my first application for the CS and i'm also applying for CO whenever it opens but the tests are my biggest worry (mostly the fact i want to score high to have a good OOM and get out of my current job ASAP). I wish the practice tests on publicjobs were better and had more varied questions to help us prepare better. But keep in mind that most applicants will likely not have as much preparation as the small minority active on here. Best we can do is take advantage of the information we have.

And never insult yourself, there are enough people in this world that will do it for you!!

Thank you so much for this lovely message! So many rejections this month from private sector interviews in my field had me feeling a little deflated so decided to rant on this thread! Hah.

I really hope we both get good scores and low OOM’s so we can get sorted later this year with work. We’ve put in the work and it’s all we can do.

I’ve had so much time to study with being out of work so I’ll be damn disappointed if I don’t at least pass!

According to Reddit, people have started getting emails for the next stage.

Also saw someone say they only got placed last week as an EO after interviewing in June 2024! A year and 8 months… It’s a very slow process. This is why it’s so important to have a low OOM in both the tests and interview.

I saw that too. can't believe they're getting emails so quick, i was prepared to try forget about it for the next few weeks. Fingers crossed we hear back soon

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 200 ✭✭Capyberna

The Redditor said the email just said they’ve commenced shortlisting and to confirm that they are still interested in a position. No more comments yet about getting this email so not worrying yet!

I haven't seen the reddit post but I'd be surprised if they're not confusing it with another competition or on a wind up.

The next correspondence on this one would be an invite to the online assessment, which would be a general email sent to all. I can't imagine time and effort would be put into shortlisting before the results of the online assessment are released knocking out a good portion of the applicants in itself.

This is a slow slow process, unless you are in the top 100 for Dublin, I'd be expecting to wait at least a couple of months after the assessment results are released.

You will absolutely torture yourself by coming in here looking for updates. Best to contact pas directly as they will give you any concrete info that exists.

Thank you very much for this! Yes. Despite the Reddit and Boards threads here being helpful, I do feel there is a lot of misinformation/conflicting information. Even in relation to completing the application form, people were very divided in how to fill in certain parts.

I’ll admit I’ve become a bit dependent to checking and reading current and past Boards and Reddit for information on this campaign. Given its such a slow process, it isn’t the healthiest thing to do. I suppose I’m just trying to lift my spirits and manifest that I will eventually have a career. The mid-20s crisis definitely hit me in the summer and autumn of last year.

You could be placed 1 on the OOM and you might never get an interview. It’s all about what’s available, lookimg for daily updates here won’t help. Do the best you can in the assessment, get the results and just forget about it. I would suggest applying for CO too that competition opens soon and it’s much more straight forward.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,935 ✭✭✭Cape Clear

Good advice! When it comes to these kind of competitions they tend to move quite slowly. No point expecting daily updates.

I'm very surprised to hear that somebody from the 2024 competition only got placed now after interviewing in June 2024. I went for the same competition and only submitted my application in July 2024. (Had an interview for a non-Dublin EO panel 2 weeks ago.)

I see from txts with friends, etc, that the online tests went live in August of that year, and we were issued with initial OOM in October.

That's how the 2024 competition played out, though who knows if a similar timeline will apply here.

Correct. No one interviewed for a job in June 2024 from the 2024 EO open competition. It did not happen. Actually impossible, as the application only went live the end of the month and didn't close until July 2024 with Online assessments in August 2024, then interviews happened.

    Someone is telling porkies....
