I think Bill Lawrence has said season 9 is no longer canon.

It was meant to be a spin off (hence the subtitle “Med School” in the opening titles) but Scrubs had jumped network to ABC late in its run and (apparently) executives there wanted another season so that’s what it was branded as.

Ah right. Thought I'd read recently that Season 9 would be mentioned as being canon but would be mostly ignored. Suppose even just that thing of wanting to bring back Sacred Heart as it was meant they couldn't since it was demolished in the opening of Season 9.

No great loss either way. Like I said, wouldn't have minded some of them making an appearance (I guess Eliza Coupe still could as she was in Season 8), but also wouldn't miss them either.

Given how panned it was and some of the actors probably well and truly moved on and are having success elsewhere (Dave Franco for example has had a great few years since), I'd say it's unlikely there was an appetite for it.

Watched the first two episodes today. I was considering not watching it because, despite being a big Scrubs fan when it originally aired, I generally think these classic shows should be left where they are.

But, actually, it was a lot better than I thought it would be. The handover of the reins at the end of the first episode was a really nice touch to kick it off and there were a few laugh out loud moments, including one with the Todd that could have been taken straight from the original run. The new interns seem perfectly tolerable and it looks like they're setting up a new JD/Elliot type of arc between the English lad and the TikTok girl, who it feels like may have been cast with a view of "how would you cast a new JD and Elliot in 2026?"

Obviously there's always an adjustment with these reboots in terms of how the cast have naturally aged, particularly Zach Braff and Sarah Chalke here, and I kind of wish the show came back at least five years ago to reduce some of that (though Judy Reyes is looking phenomenal for someone who is nearly 60, and not actually all that different from how she looked in the 2000s). But I'll definitely go with it for the nine episodes and we'll see if it has any legs in it beyond that.

Decided to start watching again from episode 1 of the original series on Disney Plus.

My memories from then is that it was excellent for the first 3 or 4 series and then kind went up it's own arse and became too clever and quirky for it's own good to the point where it became very annoying.

3rd episode was a little meh

Do we really need another 'will they won't they' between JD & Elliott again ?

Not a fan of the 'new Ted'

It was fine. To be honest, it did give me the first laugh out loud moment of the revival so far

    Tosh: Say Hello Arthur

    Arthur: Hello!

Sibby: Ooh, what else can he say?!

For some reason that just really got me.

Gave the first two a go out of curiosity. It's very picked up where they left off which I can imagine is really pleasing for hard-core fans.

Way too many cliche "look how old we are" or "the kids these days are snowflakes" jokes but I have some hope the show will work towards showing that the kids are actually not clichés.

Its the third show I have seen recently that is 30min run times and it's really nice to have that back in vogue. It's a nice change from overly long streaming episodes.

Yeah I think the runtime really helps with the pacing and keeps things moving along.

Have watched all 3 so far and really enjoying it. The chemistry and feel of the original show is very much there, and the new interns are likeable.
