App now working again happy days. Also cancelled my service for next week citing the fact my mileage is so low, 13.5k. Naas Rd told me to ensure I get service soon and thereafter service plan will fall into 24 month / 30k.

Car in garage for service at moment but will test to see if car will start as well as unlock from the smartwatch when I collect it this morning. Handy feature all right if it works

The app on my smart watch has been working fine but to be honest I haven’t been using it. Need to pin it up higher and I might

I had my watch set up for my Model 3.

Uninstalled it after a few weeks, was a right pain. Kept leaving my phone behind when setting off.

Got 2nd service today changed four tyres to Nexens , don't know much about them but time will tell. Changed wipers as well. They took car in yesterday and gave me a nice little Dolphin Surf till this morning, no charge. The service lady confirmed 1 year 20000 km service still applies to older Seals, the 2 year 30000 km plan only applies to cars that are 252 or newer, a bit strange?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 977 ✭✭✭crinkley

mine is a 252 seal and it’s due at 20k it’s booked in next week. I got mine start of July by the time my parents got theirs in October it was 2yr or 30k

Unfortunately the service lady is ill-informed. I’m sure the Nexens will be fine 👍

See crinkleys text above which varifies what she said, seems the new service regime came in October last year

Insurance renewal for Design model came out Friday at €830 😮. €371 with Aviva after 10 mins work.

I have always found Aviva to be way better than anyone else

Just reading up on the MY26 release of the BYD Seal: https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/byd/seal/369002/new-byd-seal-2026-updates-bring-bigger-boot-bigger-frunk-and-more. . Very minor improvements, the red colour might be cool. Bigger boot seems handy, probably deeper I guess? And there's a bluetooth car key now, so you can probably get the Tesla experience of unlocking and locking your car. There's nothing about the chipset used or the software itself (if it matches the one on the Sealion now), but looking at the dash picture the instrument cluster panel does look slightly different:

These changes look minimal, a bit disappointing. I would have hoped for some improvement in the range at least. I don't think it would encourage me to rush out and upgrade to it, thats for sure!

Yep, was kind of expecting that they would just bring the refreshed Chinese model to the international market.

Thinking about it must have been one these that Dodzy saw on the transporter a few weeks back

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,492 ✭✭✭✭dodzy

Nah, that was the Seal 6 (DMi) I seen. It's a PHEV with either saloon or estate option and a choice of either a 10kWh or 19kWh battery on board coupled with an ICE. That should get you somewhere in the region of 50 - 100kms real world on EV only depending on which model you choose but they are boasting crazy numbers WLTP when you couple the larger battery with a full tank of juice, somewhere in the region on 1500kms.

Samsung S24 and Ultra watch. Can get as far as scanning the QR code from the app installed on the phone and then it's asking me to make sure country and both set the same. Which they are to Ireland, obviously. Anyone else have issues ?

Anyone else with HUD notice the small changes with 2.1.1? Layout slightly updated and in the short spin I had earlier I noticed that when the lane assist kicked in there was an icon that appeared in the HUD to show it. Never saw that before.

Yes they have updated the HUD all right speed limit sign flashes as well if you go over it. Pity they havent added the navigation arrows like in chinese ones

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 368 ✭✭Sealman

I think the one on the top is new Seal Dodzy has the pop out door handles that the Seal 6 doesn't have, also has the new Seal wheels and BYD on the back. I think the one on the bottom is Seal 6 all right as doesn't have pop out door handles

I don't like that the whole screen side swipe doesn't open up the apps page . Maybe I'm missing something but to get into all apps I've to pick the icon of 4 rectangles on the lower left corner of screen. No swipey

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,492 ✭✭✭✭dodzy

Nope, you are correct, a definite step back in some respects IMO. All that unuseable real estate on the screen is just plain stupid, for what, to have a silly 'always on' pic of a mountain or a moon. Seriously ? The predecessor was better in this regard. Dirrty big feckin' icons for your most used threesome that you didn't even have to take your eyes off the road to select, and of course swipey-lefty for all others. Now I nearly need to put on bloody glasses to look at the stupid cluttered toolbar on the bottom of the screen.

There were welcome additions of course but surely it would not be a massive reach to allow us to pick and choose what icons we want and have them laid out in a window-esque homescreen type setup!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 368 ✭✭Sealman

Definitely agree with this, all that useless wasted space on the screen the 3 big icons worked much better and also preferred separate heated seat controls on the bottom bar for each seat

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 267 ✭✭grumpygit

On the HUD the blind spot indicator possibly handy , could have put the navigation instructions to the left of the right blind spot indicator but instead put an icon that flashes when you cross a road line without indicating which to me is a bit pointless, Must be ample space for more info as they went from one row to two

I messed up and accepted the update overnight.

How did they F up the GPS so badly...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 267 ✭✭grumpygit

My gps was screwed up after the update but seems ok now. I did a software reset by holding down the volume switch which I think may have cured it. I had issues with gps and speed limit indication but seems all ok now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 122 ✭✭rdewit83

Soft reset didn't work for mine. Did you have all the radio hardware fixes (rear window, brake light etc) carried out?

Yes. Had those fixed during service. The gps issue was really weird, it seemed to gradually get better after I did the reset, went from being about 10K off to nearly 100 meters after software reset, it seemed to gradually fix itself then , just checked app and it's probably about 2 meters off now however once car is moving it seems to correct itself (I think). Not sure where it gets its gps signal from, I use Android auto and Google maps and before software reset it would get correct gps position when the car was moving but when the car stopped at lights or stop sign it would loose its location, as soon as I pulled off again it corrected itself (most of the time). My software data had just ran out before update so that may have had a bearing if sim without data only contacts it's base station intermittently although seems ok now
