Also loving all the Irish tunes being worked in. Heard Hey Day twice.

    Clannad on now

I was thinking the same. I know they’re playing older songs for the older audience, replacing these with older and newer Irish songs would be a service to Irish artists.

Is Foley covering for Dempsey? He hasn't been on at 2pm this week or last.

No, Ian still in. Last week, Quilty said Ray was on holidays

Have to say that today fm has been far more enjoyable to listen to over the last few weeks than previous to that

Wonder will they keep some of those older songs after the countdown is over?

Hopefully more take Daves lead and keep playing Foo Fighters.

Jessica Maciel is back in Marconi House. But not on Today FM. She's the Saturday afternoon presenter on 98fm.

    This too shall pass.

Haven't listened too much over past few days. Have they reduced the amount top 100 Irish entries being played because the vote is over? Think I've only heard one this morning so far.

Did they happen to just play a prerecorded sports bulletin?

Otherwise why tell us about footy matches that took place >24hrs ago? Its hardly news at this stage.

7 o'clock on a Monday evening and they play a sports report bulletin that is 24 hours old!!!

Often on a Saturday evening they replay sports bulletin from earlier in the day 'and the latest from the lunch time kick-off is…'

    Matt's voice is gone really

He was struggling to speak on the last word this evening and I actually turned it off

Kind of reminded me of Bobby Kerr on "down to business" on newstalk, tbh

I like Dave, but his hyperbole is getting a bit much. Not content with calling everyone legends, he referred to Eric Lalor and Willa White as a comedy 'ICONS' this morning.

Eric Lalor can be funny, but I've never even heard of Willa White, and I'd like to think I know my way around the Irish comedy scene.

To be fair to Willa he's been knocking around for years but is gaining a bit of popularity these days. He stared in Des Bishop's show Joy in the hood on RTE back in 2006. His blurb is below.

"Willa White has exploded in popularity over the past 18 months, quickly marking himself out as one of the biggest names in the Irish comedy circuit. Having sold over 8,000 tickets to date, Willa will become the first Irish comedian ever to play the National Stadium since it was built in 1939.

As well as comedy, Willa has taken to acting, performing in the multi-award-winning production 'The Examination' with Irish theatre company Brokentalkers, and just completed a three-night run in The Ambassador Theatre (a venue at which Willa became the first ever comedian to hold a residency). He has also taking to podcasting, seeing his show 'You Must Be Jokin’, which he co-hosts with fellow Dublin comedian Eric Lalor, fly to the top of the Irish podcast charts.

With support slots alongside Jason Byrne, Tommy Tiernan, Kevin Bridges and John Bishop ticked off the list, Willa is ready to kick start the newest phase of his comedy journey. His newest show 'Dead Man Talking' will see Willa reflect on memories of those who have passed, and the fun times they shared on this rollercoaster we call life."

    The lifeboat has set sail

I saw Jon Kenny in the Stadium in the early to mid 80s, so that's completely wrong, for starters

Do they still call it "100-102 Today FM"?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,094 ✭✭✭✭flazio

I think the only stations these days that refer to their frequency ranges are those named after them, like 98fm.

    This too shall pass.

They actually have form in this regard! Dunno what's going on. However... Some day last week, about 5 minutes before 1 o'clock, Mr Sportsnews guy (can't remember his name) suddenly appeared on the airwaves in the middle of a song for about 2 seconds, reading sports news. So I wonder does he record each one a few minutes before it's meant to go out? And then maybe someone in the studio clicks Play on the wrong clip?

By the way, did Today FM do a countdown of biggest hits of the year towards the end of last December? I think Gracie Abrams won it. Probably to make up for being completely absent from the Top 500 songs of the post 25 years, however they managed that

I expected #99 to be about 50 places higher than it is.

    Surprising.
