Just started lashing rain here in Dublin 8…gone so dark after a bright start. The rain has been relentless in 2026

Went out for a run as it was nice and bright and dry. 20 mins later it’s lashing. Luckily I stopped at a coffee shop. Won’t be leaving anytime soon unless I want to get soaked.

Issin down in N Kildare, dark as a pit, wouldn't be shocked if there was the odd spark or two

Another day, another deluge. Very heavy rain in Maynooth and so dark. There was a bit of blue sky at 10 after a damp morning, which was lovely, after a lovely clear starry evening yesterday. Walked the canal again, but soaked now. Rivers of water flowing down the streets and the massive puddles being topped up. Horrible.

Unbelievable Hail here in Kildare for a time

Absolutely horrible here in Dublin now, I'm almost at the point now where even though you hate the constant rain, you're so used to it that you barely even notice anymore, it's just the norm these days sadly.

Yep, sheets of rain battering against the windows here near the airport. Not sure what we're up to now but we can't be far off the wettest Feb on record now

That band of rain has all but passed through, unlike that crap we've been dealing with for weeks that would shuffle back and forth for hours on end.

Remainder of day should hopefully be dry and always good to see an improvement in the temps

Up to noon, only another 8.1mm is needed to match 2020 as the wettest on record for the airport.

Love the picture of two people in the distance on the snowy beach. Reminds me of the snowy Montauk beach in that Jim Carey movie eternal sunshine of the spotless mind.

Beautiful sunny day here in Longford after a prolonged cloudburst this morning. I could put up with this sort of weather, as opposed to yesterday when it drizzled miserably all day.

was out that way during the heavy rain just now, would say they might have gotten that just in past hour.

At this stage it might as well, no point in getting all this rain if we're not at the very least going to break the record. Give us something to boast about 😂

Promised rain dump has been and is now gone from Dublin 7, and now the sun is out! Looking Springy and temps in double figures. Time to dig out the shorts :-) It was very dark though during that deluge

Well off to the beach we headed this morning, before the absolute torrential rain showers rolled in and soaked us on beach😁

We just had an unreal shower here near airport so we must be nearly there now.

Blue skies now after we are home from beach!

Today is the first time since the 11th of January that the temperature exceeded 10c at Malin head. Prior to that the last time was the 23rd of December. So since Christmas(almost 2months) this is the just the 2nd time of 10c+. Very unusual.

I would say it has been very similar here in Dublin. It really has been an awful winter, so much rain and so cold realtively considering all the rain.

I would have much preferred cold, frosty days.

Any lads in the building game will know the hardship this weather is causing. People waiting to get work done too. Farming people as well of course.

We have work backed up for months now we can't get either started or finished. I'm supposed to be in semi retirement, but the way it's looking I'm going to have a hell of a busy summer to catch up.

Lovely afternoon in North Ros into the double digits in temps and some lovely sunshine. A strong breeze tho, but could be a lot worse judging by some reports here

Yep, way too much cold rain this winter. At least we will have warm rain over next few days 🙃

Funnily enough, this afternoon was the first time i have had the chance to put some towels on the line this year, although skies are threatening again, so in they come to the trusty clothes horse

it’s meant to be 11 degrees but the cold breeze has it feeling like 1 degrees, I hate it

a rotten winter overall in terms of temperature, this is another relatively mild winter but a 2 month spell where temperatures didn't get above 10C, combined with windchill and almost daily deluges made it feel really cold at times and heating being run most of the winter. Despite this we never really got properly cold aside from the opening 7 to 10 days of January and even then any precipitation that did fall was mostly cold rain or sleet away from Donegal which did actually get some proper snow. If it wasn't for that northerly early January this would be almost a frostless winter because we only got 1 night frost in December (6th I think it was) and only 1 or 2 minor frosts since that northerly ended. Western areas may have done better for frost in December but here in Meath it was just the 1 night as the rest of December was mild until New Years eve when the cold set in. The easterly we had over Christmas was relatively mild here around 8C most days and 5C by night. The past 6 weeks here in Meath has generally been between 5C by night and 8C by day, no real cold but cold enough for us to have the heating running every single day. The temperatures may not have been the usual 10C+ we get most winters, but it was cold enough to make us feel cold but not cold enough for wintry weather but the real story of this winter isn't the temperatures but the sheer volume of rain that has fallen and the extensive flooding.

@OldRio hope yer doing ok haven't seen a post from you about Leitrim for a while, I lived up there a long time in that stretch between Bundoran and Manorhamilton, the weather you describe would be fairly similar.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)
