A few Irish faces in there and Damian Lewis in a WWII uniform once again. All on Fraser's shoulders by his character's rank - Eisenhower. Feels a bit scenery chewy in places, imo. Wonder if there'll be a nod to Maureen Sweeney at Blacksod lighthouse.

    Late May release.

Looking forward to it, but basing a whole D-Day WWII movie on a single weather forecast which only delayed things by a day anyway seems to be fairly slight and over-dramatised.

I was thinking that during the trailer…. surely this isn't just about whether some maverick weatherman is right or not.

It is based on a stage play by David Haig (actor from Thin Blue Line on TV and Four Weddings & A Funeral). The stage play is set at Allied HQ in England. I wouldn't be expecting much or any combat action.

As well as Andrew Scott in the cast as James Stagg, Kerry Condon plays Eisenhower's assistant Captain Kay Summersby. In the play at least the role of metereologist James Stagg has equal billing with Eisenhower - Haig actually filled the role of Stagg.

Reminds me of the concept of this TV movie, starring Tom Selleck as Eisenhower, where again the focus was on the decisions being made in Allied HQ.

Feels like it will more in the style of Operation Mincemeat or Imitation Game than Saving Private Ryan.
