Gwen is a good character and much more likeable than Zoe who in general has a face resembling an angry chipmunk

I laughed at Fergal putting on the solicitor accent, and in the preview looks like he's wearing a suit to meet Liz McDonald 😂

I hear the actor who plays Fergal doing voiceover work on a lot of ads. His style seems to be the "woke" type of voiceover artist, a la Emmet Kirwan, which is ironic considering his character when he first joined Fair City!

Agree, they can't decide on what sort of character Fergal is, no reference to his right wing opinions or past strange behaviour.

To be fair I think its the writers rather than the characters that are the problem. Theres a fairly strong cast of characters but the writers come up with the daftest plots for them and then when they occasionally strike gold with a good plot its over in the blink of an eye and fizzles out to nothing like the Will murder. That could easily have continued on without Mairead if the likes of Mondo and Kira found out the Collins killed Will and took no accountability for it but were crucifying Mondo for accidentally killing Anto even though he is taking responsibility

Fergal was written first as an antivax antiimask type born out of the Covid pandemic ….. plus a racist ….. he would fit well into an Irish Tea Party aka MAGA type group ….. and a guy whose jealousy of his brother extended to him attempting to burn down the gym …..

But …. Fergal has been toned down/moderated a lot in recent times ….. yes of course such types do in the real world see the light and get out of the circus of Trumpism/etc …… also the actor may not have enjoyed playing a character like that and wanted Fergal to be a better person …..

Not sure where 2026 Fergal would be on the political spectrum …… but cannot see him handing out Covid conspiracy literature and spouting racist propaganda like he did at first …… FC dealt with far right racists in around 2005 with the murderous Pete Flanagan aka Jimmy from Killinaskully and Morgan duo …..
