Once 48 sorts out it's legacy issues and facilitates the WiFi calling etc, then there's a cheap access to all 3 networks. Unless you have niche requirements or paying off a fancy phone, then there's no reason to look past gomo, clear or 48

Quick question for anyone who may have taken out a phone contract from Sky.

    Specifically for an iPhone.

Do they come unlocked? So it can use any providers sim? Or use any second sim in dual sim mode?

I didn't myself but yes, they come unlocked. Afaik Three are the only provider who still network lock iPhones.

    Thanks guys.

To be honest the price they charge for the phones isn’t too far off the retail price. Plus if you don’t like sky mobile service you can take out a €4 month sim plan of you wish instead. And spread it over 24 or 36 months.

Thinking of maybe updating to latest iPhone Pro Max either this September or next year.

Or perhaps the foldable might win me over!

Would wait for the €12.99 deal though.

Yep, as others have said they're unlocked. I have a friend who got an iPhone off Sky with a free sim (now €4) with a tiny amount of data on it just to get the phone on 0% finance! I wouldn't go near a 3 year contract personally, I'm happy with pay as you go.

My experience with Sky Ireland !

I went ahead and tried to get a new phone and sim with them, the offer was good. It was the Ihpone 17. Deal was 29.99 a month for 36 months for the phone, 15 a month for the sim deal.

Signed up, was then told that I have to pay 87 as my credit check wasnt fully clear. I usually have around 20K in the bank and have not ever once in my life missed a payment on anything, 2 loans have been cleared in the past a year or more early than planned. My income is a good bit above the national average ( not bragging, so dont shoot me)

That was OK, said alright no problem. Got the details to set up the phone account. Sky App doesn't recognise an Irish Eircode. 2 hours onto a call center with staff who don't speak English well. Asked after a while to just cancel the whole thing and get my money back. Transferred to another agent to ask why I was leaving, 40 mins of my life gone.

Contract cancelled, told it will be 15 working days to get the money back. This was all within 4 hours of signing up.

    Never, ever, ever, again.

I done it all at the Sky booth in Liffey Valley centre, no messing, especially with UK centric call centres in India and hopping between .ie and .co.uk websites. Sim arrived in the post, worked as soon as I authorised it, and it ported my number from Eir in less than 40 minutes. I did occasionally experience problems with the online site when it would go to UK version, but generally, it works. I've not went near it in a long while, though I must check all the piggy points or whatever they're called, get a few cinema tickets or the like.

I've found with Sky Mobile on my iPhone it'll get stuck to EDGE or G sometimes and doesn't switch to 4G/5G unless I put it in airplane mode or restart.

I did go to my own local sky booth. They were nice lads to be fair, but not much help.
