Yeah fair enough but it was the M3 in the post that I was referring to.

Yes and that's a good thing. But whereas BYD and Tesla will almost certainly still be around in 5 years time and still producing many cars, Mazda will likely be no more.

TP Waters in Kildare town have a LHD Mazda 6e demo model on the premises if anyone wants to see one in the metal.

Saw a good few of these in SE Asia before Christmas.

A very impressive looking car, seemed a lot larger than the Tesla Model 3.

Is Mazda as a brand still active in Ireland, or did they go the way of Mitsubishi?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,483 ✭✭✭John arse

Yeah still active, around 20 dealers Nationwide.6 year warranty offered as well.

Same, they're a really nice car. They're definitely a class above a Model 3. Much closer in size to a BYD Seal or a Model S

    👍️

Just don't seem to see many/any new Mazda registrations on the road anymore.

Looked bigger than the Seal, with lovely colours. Very elegant car especially with the tan leather interior.

Checked the dimensions, it's bigger than both the Camry and Superb.

Great looking cars and suvs. Both inside and out. I even like all the colours they have.

I do see Mazda's around. Mostly SUV a few saloons, and the odd EV/Phev. They always catch my eye in a sea of bland vehicles.

New Mazdas though - like 25 or 26 plates?

Plenty of 2015 Mazda 6s and 2019 Mazda 3s around it seems.

see new Mazdas around Kildare where the dealer is, used to see more with Msl stickers before

Mazda make some great cars especially Mazda 3, still the best looking car in its segment. By far the simplest, least maintenance hybrid system.

6e is a rebadged Chinese model which is a pity but lets see how it turns out. Difficult for a smaller manufacturer to develop their own EV package.

Mazda sell about 1000-1500 units in Ireland so they are a small player: they used to be a lot more popular here. Like a lot of the smaller Japanese makes they’ve been squeezed out of Europe without a local production base (though the 2 is now a rebadged Yaris, made in France). I expect the link with Toyota to become more prominent and it wouldn’t surprise me to see the range become rebadged Toyotas. It’s not viable for smaller players to have their own plat forms anymore

For me Mazda is MX5 and 3 the two best cars that they made. I understand why people would skip over the 3. It’s smallish in the back and people want stupid touch screens now. They buy based on impressions after sitting in a car. How the car drives and what the ergonomics are often does not matter to many folks.
Their cx60 was rushed and has annoying issues that they only fixed now, but the price tag is mad.

CX5 could be better seller if not their ruined reputation after the diesels.

If I was buying new Mazda I would want to buy a Mazda car not a Mazda badge over Changan. And the cabin is typical any-modern-Chinese ev which is a laptop on wheels.

much of the Mazda range is pretty well priced (in my opinion). The new CX5 petrol auto 2.5 litre is around €42-45 k. I assume it’s some kind of mild hybrid.

A new MX5 is under €45k which for a “sports” type car in Ireland is as low you’ll get

My wife was buying a new car last December (not a mazda) so while she was looking at other cards i ended up sitting in a showroom Mazda 6e a few times. I have to say the interior is class and screams of a high end Merc/BMW. I didn't drive it as it was a showroom model but its certainly got the looks. Considering the price point it seems to be an awful lot of car for what you pay.

I currently drive a diesel Mondeo and not in a massive rush to change cars but its now 11 year old (my wife just picked up a new MG EV4) but generally i wanted to keep one of the cars as Diesel for long trips but i'm tempted now seeing the price of this.

They quote an on the road price, yet at bottom says Delivery and related charges not included..

But looks well priced for a well specced car.

seems like a pretty keen price, reasonable spec, not the best performance or range, but the price trumps everything I guess. Compared to say the new leaf or the new chr+ which seem expensive it seems a lot of car for the price, although not the popular shape anymore, I’d say the cx if anyway similarly priced its shape will sell very well.
