I've tried to login there and it's telling me my login details are incorrect. I know they are correct. I logged in successfully on Friday gone so something seems not right…

Poor service to be fair was on injury benefit for 3 months before Christmas living on 244 a week with a fractured hand, if I said I lost my job I would have got 450, paid PRSI all my life I am 57 with 4 kids and 1 in college, anyway got back to work and revenue has decided to Tax the bollox out of me for last 6 weeks, it seems that welfare and revenue are still using carrier pigeons to deliver messages to them and to add to that I submitted my tax return to find out I underpayment them by1500 euro, it would make you wonder why I leave for work every morning at 6.30. rant over good morning.

The SOL appeared on my account a couple of days ago after submitting tax return on Sunday night but despite saying available when I click view it says "We are processing your most recent request. Your Statement of Liability will be available shortly".

It's been like that for 2 days now.

Is this normal? It's my first time doing a tax return so a little in the dark.

I submitted health expenses on 2nd January, I'm still waiting for a revised SoL.

I get the same message as @Exiled Rebel

I raised an enquiry on 20th Jan, haven't received any response to that either.

Same as above here. Submitted health expenses 2nd Jan, enquiry sent 26th Jan.

As I was reading this thread just now, I got an email to say that my revised SoL is ready. My revised tax credit certificate is also ready.

Now to pay my tax bill....!

I submitted my return on 12 Jan, no SoL.

Called Revenue this morning at 10.30am - got through to someone after about 12 minutes (got through when the wait time went down to 10 minutes).

Fella I was talking to was very helpful and processed the return while I was on the phone. Delay was due to other PAYE expenses being flagged. Should have SoL in the morning and refund Friday or Monday.

Phone lines must be back to normal now so I would suggest giving them a call as you could be a few weeks waiting for a response on MyEnquiries.

Submitted for 2025 had underpayment of 1275...

Strange thing is they wont give him all his tax credits as they said he didnt earn enough.. he earned above 28000... he asked me and im bambozzled so said id ask here does anyone know.. he has single the normal credits but they only gave him some of his single parent credit and none of his incapacitated child.. they said he is entitled to them but he didnt earn enough?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,047 ✭✭✭DmanDmythDledge

If his income was say 28k, then 20% tax equals €5,600.

Single person credit plus PAYE credit is €4,000, leaving €1,600. So it does seem correct that he didn't earn enough to fully utilise all the credits he is entitled to.

I dont know why i have to wait for entire Ireland to be processed first. I submitted mine on January 2nd and included supporting documents. They reached out on Jan 21st asking for a document that i had already uploaded. I responded with the document again but radio silence since. i tried calling but no luck. Not sure what i can do.

I submitted my tax return on Jan 19th. Haven’t heard a thing since . Are they busier than other years ? Or have they inadequate staff … tried ringing and you are just cut off …very frustrating service

A relative is on carers allowance for elderly parent, this past 4 years, they work part time also under the 18 hrs. They are being charged high paye tax now since January, think around 40e per week, anyone know who to contact about it? Must be to do with the new welfare and revenue sharing details scheme!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,047 ✭✭✭DmanDmythDledge

You later point is correct - tax due on the carer's allowance is taken at source now. I don't think any need to contact someone (e.g. Revenue) about it.

"As of January 1, 2026, Revenue automatically receives notification of Carer's Allowance and Benefit payments directly from the Department of Social Protection, removing the need for carers to self-declare."

The person tax Credits and tax bands are reduced by the value of tax that is due on 52 weeks for the carers allowance payment.

So they would have paid take in previous years on it if self declared?

yea im not sure, but they're on carers and working for 4 years, but previous 4 years the paye on payslip was 0 and now it's 40euro. Both incomes were always registered on theyre mywelfare account. But as said, up until start January this year there was no paye tax on theyre work wage?

MyWelfare account is different to MyAccount with Revenue.

To pay tax on the carers allowance the person would have to complete their PAYE Tax Return at year end on MyAccount, unless they are claiming for any additional expenses: Medical, Mortgage, Working from home, Rent relief etc..then they may have an underpayment of income tax and owe refund x amount.

They're pay in previous years was was not subject to any income tax as the person had enough tax credits to cover the liability due. But now, their Tax Credits are reduced to tax the carers allowance.

The person in question can login to MyAccount to view their Tax Credit Certificate that will show how the Carers Allowance has reduced their tax credit. Social Welfare payments are taxable.

Majority of the most common DSP payments are taxable, the attached payments are exempt:

Just got a message through my enquiries that my sol will be available shortly, tax return done on 7th January. Medical expenses, foreign dividends and eu interest meant it went for manual review. I might leave next year's return to Feb/mar time frame.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 406 ✭✭Bojill

SOL in my inbox this morning, till same time next year!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 80 ✭✭Peterk88

I was made redundant in 2024.. my accountant only pointed out that one of the payments was made through tax and not as lump sum as agreed anyway i applied for lump sum payment tax credit on it.. its been 2 months 😄

I submitted my tax return on Jan 23, still waiting for my SOL, might call them to see what is up. Am sure my one must have went for manual review too, had higher than usual PAYE earnings last year, plus big medical expenses and untaxed savings interest to declare.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 633 ✭✭✭theintern

Anyone else seeing a delay on this? A few weeks waiting again for mine, same as last year. It would be nice if they let you know that you had gone for manual review and gave some idea of a timeline for when it would complete.

Did yours come through @ionapaul ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,368 ✭✭✭ionapaul

Yes, it finally came through, but I did send them a message via MyEnquiries and then called them (finally got through) to chase it, and this might have sped things up for me. Got a very nice refund this year, first time in ages I didn't underpay!

How long does it take for a refund to issue via cheque after receiving SoL? I do one like this every year, but always forget how long it takes...
