Advice on Atmos Speakers setup

Hi folks,

I'm still trying to decide how best to setup a future Atmos speakers.

I cannot install ceiling speakers , wife won't allow this and I'm not convinced of the effectiveness of upfiring atmos speakers.

Will it be better to use regular speakers for my front and rear Atmos speakers in a 5.1.4 setup but mounting the atmos speakers high on the front and rear walls but angled downwards diagonally towards the listeners seating position ?

If so what would be a good speaker set or speaker combination to achieve great atmos / surround results?

You can actually use the upfiring speakers as downward firing speakers if you mount them quite high up on the wall,. A speaker like the Monitor Audio Bronze or Silver AMS has keyhole mountings which means when placed at a height the angle will be better than using front firing speakers:

This configuration would definitely be the best compromise if you can't install an in ceiling speaker.
