At this stage they are an absolute disgrace. Flooding all over the place here in NCD. They were too obsessed with releasing their 'yellow weather warning' all week for remperatures tonight that might fall to -3 degrees in winter.

The amount of rain that fell from 6pm yesterday was unreal, if it was a once off you would say fair enough they messed up but they were the same with all flooding in Rathfarnham etc missed that aswell.

Unlucky. I had a fair amount of fine weather up until that point in coastal Dublin and any rain wasn't outside the norm or what I would expect for January especially knowing recent Januaries up until 2026 had been much better than average sunshine and dry weather wise. Think I recall you saying Casement rain totals weren't reflecting your experience.

A beautiful morning here in Castlebar with clear blue skies . North east wind make some job of drying up roads and footpaths overnight.

For those in the East Met Eireann issued a yellow rain warning at 0237 last night.Very shabby form the national forecaster. Not good enough .

I was in Donegal in the first week where there was loads of heavy rain followed by heavy snow pretty much since the 1st. And plenty of rain from around the 6th onwards back in Dublin, maybe not huge mm totals but still plenty of actual rain

Yes. And I literally work in a field beside it most days. Especially Jan 21st and 27th when there were prolonged deluges yet low hourly totals recorded.

Rain in first part of Jan wasn't out of the ordinary or anything, but it was still wet if you're working outside.

Hopefully it does ease off soon as predicted. I'd be concerned that buildings along the river Celbridge main street may flood otherwise. Haven't seen it so high in probably 15 years at least.

Yeap, a few mill more. Ward river and Broadmeadow river were bursting at parts this morning.

I meant to say Dublin specifically, I am aware the wet weather started sooner for the west and north as the Atlantic flow returned following the northerly before heights built over Scandinavia in the final third forcing low pressure systems to meander over the south and east bringing frequent, prolonged rainfalls. I will consider myself lucky judging by these comments. I'm fed up of it whether it rained a lot or not then like yourselves anyway.

Mayne river burst its banks in Clongriffin. Auntie who works on Swords Road had to swim through Kinsealy earlier and then go back through Northwood to get to work this morning as outside the Applegreen it was impassable.

Yep that's the same place I had to turn back, very large tree down across the road just outside the school in Kinsealy.

Also noticed a burst drainage pipe on the road that seems to have exploded upwards with big chunks of tarmac scattered everywhere

my main concern right now is a big freeze on top of this, it'll be lethal!! It hasn't stopped raining all morning, but you can definitely feel the chill in the air as well. I use public transport to and from work and as much as I complain about some cyclist, damn I have serious respect for them going to and from work in this weather, I know the majority are well wrap in the proper water gear but how do they get the chill out of their bones or go about their day knowing they've to go back out into that to get home!!

Crazy storm like wind in Dublin too. So sick of it.

Just cycled past the old mill between Rush and Lusk. They are removing a large tree that fell into the stream there last night and blocked it up. They have a digger and a crane there now and you can see a huge tree trunk and root now on the side of the road. Im told the road was flooded and not passable this morning. Lots of mud on it still but not flooded anymore, presumably since they moved that tree.

Any idea what day this might happen, so that I can take that day off?

some very wet snow flakes mixed in with the rain here at Dunshaughlin, the first sign of anything remotely wintery all winter.

To be fair, the yoke that controls the Dublin radar is down still atm,so maybe the blinds are on the same fuse 😆

In reality there may have been no one on duty with the authority or the skill set earlier to put out a warning

Garden in D14 under 10 to 15cm of water again this morning...

Had no idea the rain was coming to the extent it was last night but the main RTE story yesterday for most of the day was that it could be -1 to -3, due to a cold weather warning. The priorities seem arseways.
