Continuous rainfall in N Kildare since 3pm yesterday afternoon. Strong breeze has now picked up. One of the worst starts to a year i can ever recall.

I'm of the belief that it has been so shite, that we'll get a decent spring, based on nothing but hope

Relentless rain yesterday and all night in D9, garden has a big pond at the end which very rarely happens. Seems to be flooding between Dublin Airport and Santry and busses have been diverted.

On a happier note the mornings are brighter!

adding a ‘warning’ at 2.30am is a bit crazy and pointless.

How many dry days have we had in 2026?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 160 ✭✭Needmoretea

Oh and Tolka river seems to have gained a few inches in height overnight :-o I'm not sure exactly where the flooding is by the airport but anyone who is going there this morning, give yourselves lots of time!

Those two gloriously dry sunny weeks at start January?

Worst floods here of the winter so far on the roads around Tara, Meath and it’s snowing now and 1 degree.

Very bitter cold here in north Longford. 2c with a biting northerly breeze. From my yard I can see the Cuilcagh mountains in West Cavan, about 25 miles northwest of us, with a snow covering this morning. Going to be a hardy one out.

Lots of bad flooding locally this morning in north Dublin, seeing on the local Facebook group that several underground car parks have been flooded with dozens/possibly hundreds of cars destroyed, local roads impassable etc. Nice of ME to warn people after the fact at 2am😊

And still pouring rain. If I'm not wrong the airport is up to 56mm for the past 48 hours (most in the past 24) which is over a months worth of rain. And that's on top of the fact that we'd already had over a months worth up to then

The water level for the Broadmeadow topped the level we saw on January 27th. There is a lot of flooding around Swords this morning. Plenty of abandoned cars on flooded roads. I'm surprised there wasn't a yellow rain warning at least.

It's been raining for weeks with endless flood warnings.

Edit ... Agree 2am is ridiculous.

But I don't think people would have stopped parking cars in an underground car park due to a warning.

Sorry for bad quality of pic. The snow on the Cuilcaghs in the distance. Maybe we might get a shower or two here, we often do when they get it.

Nice. Looks like a decent dump. Do you know how high that peak is?

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

Torrential rain since yesterday afternoon in Celbridge. Pedestrian bridge across the Liffey is closed as water is too high. Also very windy and very cold. Pure misery.

100%, no one is going to see it! The worst of it is over, it's a bit windy here but the rain is all but gone.

666m Google says. The photo is poor, it's down roughly to half way covered. Nice to look at anyway.

Getting sick of talking about Dublin rain all the time but another one for the moment.

A daily fall of 33.9mm made yesterday the 2nd wettest February day on record for Dublin Airport and the wettest since 8th February 1946 which had 34.9mm.

A few snowflakes passed through in my area of Meath. Bitter cold wind but I can see the clearance to my northwest and winds will ease then. I might see a sunny day yet. The brighter skies might reach Gonzo in the next couple of hours.

'it has rained since christmas' is a constant refrain in the dublin-based media. It is fake news!

Snow on top of the local mountains. Some blue sky. Cold 1C. Horrendous rain last night. Flooding in areas.

Yes, it does my head in. It has been atrocious but let's not stray away from the facts.

So met eireann are in Glasnevin and they couldnt predict there was going to be heavy rain in N Dublin until 230am. That place in Glasnevin has windows doesnt it. Thats very bad.

Rain was forecast to be heavy in the NW but it was dry here all day with just 7mm the night before.

Looks like the clearance isn't too far away for the east. Looking forward to some crisp sunshine this afternoon.

Lashing here still in Dublin 8 really really miserable

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 352 ✭✭gilly1910

I was thinking that earlier, normally the weeks fly by, but with this endless drudgery of grey miserable weather, getting soaked every day going to and from work, it's been the longest six weeks that I can ever remember.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 579 ✭✭✭Thunder87

For a lot of people when saying "Christmas" it's the holiday period rather than specifically the 25th, considering it's rained pretty much since the first week back to work in January it's not too wide of the mark.

Still pouring down here near the airport, had to take an alternate route to work thanks to a large tree down across the Malahide Road

Snow on the mountains above 600m or so, a chilly but dry and quite nice morning here in the West.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 14,457 ✭✭✭✭sryanbruen

That's still incorrect as the wet period in Dublin started around the 17th January which is long after the holiday period.

The significant rain started then but I've got wet in work all but 3 days since my second day back on 6th Jan.
