Didn’t see any linked thread on earthing requirements ? You might post again please.

Surely the house side is earthed properly from the consumer unit ? I assume the supply/car side is your concern in terms of earthing ?
If the outside socket was earthed properly and a screened cable used from V2L source to outside socket, would that be sufficient.

V2L is like a giant house battery, part of house electrical system?

With a price starting at €41,995 for the large 84kWh battery and 570km range. Is the updated IONIQ 5 from Hyundai one of the best "bang for buck" EVs available at the moment? Top trim is €48,995 and still gives you all the bits some others have removed 😉

picked up my 221 ioniq5 on Saturday. Delighted in general but the auto wiper feature appears not to sense the rain…

Checked a forum and comment was to clean the zone behind mirror. I mailed the dealer and he sent me a pic to confirm I’ve the stalk and selector in the correct configuration. I’ve already been following that I reckon but I’ll be trying again in the morning.
so I’d recommend checking the rain sensor is working!

You need to clean the glass on the outside of the windshield just in front of the mirror, also if the windshield is fogged up it can cause proplems

Agreed, I have a generator (honda ei20i) feed with a changeover switch, I've had experience in the past of electronics being "fried" so you really need to be careful. 1st point is that I needed to do a neutral-earth bond at the generator plug to give me a proper 230v on live, and secondly have an earth rod. I've got the i5 v2l adaptor but as it's a car pushing live voltage I won't be connecting the i5 v2l to the house. It's fine for just running a kettle or some lights though with an extension cable (simple non electronic circuits). Caveat .. this is my own experience and not a how-to guide on earthing.

Had 25k kilometre service today and they noticed I'll soon need 2 new tyres and they quoted 360 per tyre.

Where are people people getting tyres. Current tyre is the Michelin 255/45/r20 EV tyre.

My car is at 45k km now and still a good bit of life in the tyres.

Maybe bring the car to a local tyre shop and have them have a look. The dealer may have been trying to up sell you early.

Approaching 60,000km here and tyre shop tell me there's up to 5k more in them yet. In for service in Monday, be interesting what they say. 360 per tyre is way too much!

Ours has the 19" wheels and changed the rear tyres at about 50k, there was still good thread remaining; but Missus was noticing a bit of loss of grip on steep town hills. About 13k later there is still loads of thread on fronts.

I think about €380 from local tyre place for two fitted and balanced, same spec Michelins as originals.

Don't bother with the "EV" tyre. Get the regular version of the same tyre - the EV variants are the Emperor's New Clothes, and marked up appropriately. Literally offer nothing.

I got them for €175 last September when I changed the 4 tires. M3 Van Center in Mulhuddard Dublin 15. Got over 70,000 on the tires. One failed the NCT so replaced them all.

Hi all, I bought a 231 Ioniq 5 but cant deactivate the Bluelink for the previous owner. Have contacted Hyundai about it but have had no joy. Have even mentioned it being a GDPR issue to see if that would get their attention but no luck.

Anyone have this issue previously and a fix for same.

Tried resetting the unit but it didn't work either.

    Thanks

Have you tried emailing this address?

    support.bluelink@hyundai-europe.com

Explain that you've purchased the car and you'll need to provide the registration and vin. They may ask for proof of purchase.

They are slow to reply but will come back to you.

Yep have emailed them too. No reply as of yet 🙈

going thru this myself. Fairly disappointed with the garage for not sorting this prior to the purchase tbh. Emailed the contact listed above and my case has been shared to a global team today.

I would contact the garage that sold you the car, they maybe able to contact the previous owner and have them remove your car from their bluelink profile.

I traded in my previous car a month ago but I am unable to delete the old car from my profile, I presume the head unit has to be reset first.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 437 ✭✭Dozz

I have been onto them already but they arent very helpful to be honest. I would have thought the previous owner would just have to remove the car from their profile in the app.

Fairly ridiculous situation that the previous owner (if they wanted too) could control certain aspects of my car and also see where my car is parked at night…

Have an IOniq 5 221, 88000 km on the clock

Service due and apperently the battery coolant is due to repalced which according to HY Dundrum will cost 750 + vat

If I elect not to have the coolant replaced, will it affect my battery warranty ??

    which is

    8-year high-voltage battery warranty.

Our high-performance high-voltage batteries are warranty protected for 8 years or 160,000 km, whichever comes first.

What exactly does the battery coolant do,

I always charge my batteries at home 3.3 kwh charger or in work 11 kwh charger, so they are never rapid charged

I assume battery overheating occurs when you rapid charge ?

I have not looked into getting the coolant replaced at a genenic EV service centre, instead of HY, but Im guessing this is a possibility , and if I do this is my warranty still intact ?

ask them have they tested the coolant and the results say it needs replacing or are they just going by the recommended schedule. Mooneys Hyundai in Sandyford charging €400 btw for that fluid. I bought my car in Hyundai dundrum and wouldn’t go to them for anything except warranty work . Mooneys much better customer service imo. Mooneys stated the coolant is recommended however warranty is not voided by not replacing it but it is a mandatory replacment at 120,000 km to keep warranty

I'm guessing they're the dealer quoted prices for the tyres? Ignore them. Go to a specialist tyre shop and never, ever buy tyres from the car dealer. They'll rip you off and likely fit ditch finders. I won't even let the feckers change the wiper blades!

Saw a lovely blue 5N on the Dublin Road from Cork yesterday.
    241C24240 or something like that.
    Anyobe here?

    Beautiful car.

Local dealer (Wexford) advised that coolant change is required at 60k km service to maintain warranty at a cost of EUR795. Rang around about 8 or 10 dealers throughout the country who all said same (including Mooneys Sandyford.) I then emailed Hyundai Ireland who responded with the following "We can confirm Change of coolant is required at 60,000km/48 months (whichever occurs first)" together with a screenshot from the service schedule. Haggled the local dealer down to 650 and booked in for next week.

It's very annoying as in other countries they are not insisting on this at 60k.

That is a complete and utter rip off.

Do any other EVs need a battery coolant change?

Did Hyundai design it this way based on some experience or just to keep their service departments ticking over?

What about EV6 and Inster, do they need it changed also?
