Dorgu on that left side with Cunha as the left side forward feels like a good fit imo - allowing Cunha to come in while Dorgu goes outside.

Mad to think he's only 31 in July. Will be interesting to see if they open contract talks with Shaw within the next 12 months. Any contract will surely come with a reduction. As good as he's been I hope we look to improve at LB this summer.

When Shaw is fit he's top class. I'd definitely offer him a new contract and based on his injury record it would be a weekly rolling one.

Comms this week is top notch stuff. Great getting it every week. Give Big Michael anything he wants. What a turnaround. The front three and Bruno have so many goals in them. Great to see.

No mid-season friendly, or warm weather training camp during the time between tomorrow’s game and the Everton game 13 days later. The players will get up to 4 days off according to The Times.

Mount likely to be back for the Everton game, but de Ligt is still a wait and see. Might be March before he’s seen again unfortunately.

Lazy take. Shaw was players’ player of the year twice in seasons with no international tournament the following summer.

Mount is a top class baller but is made of weetabix, if we can get any half decent price for him we should ship him in the summer.

You wouldn't be able to even give him away for free given his wages. It's unfortunate about his injury record because he was playing good this season when available.

What a difference Mbeumo and Cunha have made to the attack so far this season as well.

We struggled massively to get into positive goal difference the last few years but they've both been a breath of fresh air. They're a consistent threat and hopefully can keep it going.

Team still needs a good bit of work but a lot to be positive about.

Stolen from the West Ham thread.

Jarrod Bowen, Crysencio Summerville & Aaron Wan Bissaka are all set to miss West Ham’s midweek clash with Manchester United following injuries picked up at the weekend.

If true we really must be beating them this evening.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,614 ✭✭✭Charlie69

Hope that’s true, Bowen has been incredible for them again this season and both AWB and Summerville are important players for them. I’m always wary of West Ham away… as someone said…. Upton Park 1995 has left a few scars.

West Ham another team we haven’t had much luck with recently. No win in the last 3 games. 2 defeats.

Those 3 players rumoured as injured - it seems to be fake ⬇️

    IMG_6629.jpeg

Todibo suspended is the only confirmed absentee I believe. Apparently some players are injured but Nuno hasn’t named them.

On our own lads - Mbeumo was seen limping after the Spurs game. Carrick didn’t mention him in his pre-match presser. SullyTalks (a guy with inside info) tweeted that Mbeumo is fine but then deleted the tweet.

A win would be massive heading into the two week break for confidence, but also coming in and winning 5 in a row would be crazy stuff for Carrick & co. I hope they get over the line.

WHU are also finding good form, with 3 wins in last 4. this'll be a very tough away game.

head says some sort of draw

Hopefully…. what an incredible start for Carrick, five in a row and up to third would be massive.

I often hear people say that, that Mount is a top class player only for the injuries.

Is he really though? Even if he was always fit, I think he'd probably be a decent bench player.

1992 scarred me as well. We handed the title to Leeds that Wednesday night in April at Upton Park. I remember listening to it on BBC Radio 5 and was sick after it. Then of course 1995….

If memory serves me right the team were running on fumes at that stage of Season, and ended up playing a rake of games in a very short space of time.Them getting to League Cup Final had truncated the league Season.

I always looked forward to Man United games when we were pure dire in recent years, but have to say, the excitement has ramped up big time since the last few results under Carrick

    Long may it continue!

I get the feeling tonight’s game is a huge psychological test. The squad needs to get over that hurdle before anything to do with West Ham.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,577 ✭✭✭✭PARlance

Would agree that he's a top class player. However, I would also also agree that he's probably a bench player as well… but I don't mean that as a slight on him, he would be a top class bench player (/sometimes starter) in a very strong squad.

A "decent bench player" doesn't give him enough credit imo.

As much as I rate him, I wouldn't have him down as a guaranteed starter. I would definitely have Cunha and Mbeumo ahead of him, and Amad as well.

If Bruno extends his deal, I would hope to see Mount being used to prolong Bruno's career and his own. The 2 would be ideally rotated a lot for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,516 ✭✭✭mobydopy

Do we think Carrick will rotate tonight with the quick turnaround or go with the same 11? Wouldn't surprise me to see Sesko start

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,397 ✭✭✭✭bucketybuck

Its nearly 2 weeks until the next game so no real need for rotation, just play a full strength team and keep the momentum going.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 898 ✭✭✭Gus Ivey

Yeah I would be surprised to see any changes to be honest. There was a few rumours that Mbuemo had an issue, but think that's just speculation

If he was injured, then Sesko in for him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,673 ✭✭✭✭johnnyryan89

No point changing a winning team if everyone is fit and ready to go.

He's a Rolls Royce of a player when fit.

We would struggle to sign a better LB at the moment.

The big question mark has and always will be how long he can avoid injury
