A few years ago, no one would have expected Israel and its politicians to be defending themselves in the ICC and ICJ so substantial progress has been made. There are countries that would arrest the war criminals which again is great progress. Almost all yellow western democracies would be too scared to arrest him, not because they don't believe him to be a war criminal, but because of the certainty of US economic and political terrorism being waged against them.

We are living in a very black and white period. Germany and Japan are back in military mode with their ultra-nationalist mentalities. The US could be very different in the future if a humanitarian was elected President.

I note Netanyahu is visiting Trump at the White House yet again this week (must be the fifth or sixth time in recent times). They are not even trying to hide their rogue state status any longer and being firmly within the Trump axis and opponents of the EU and NATO. It's amusing that any European country could regard Netanyahu and Israel as an "ally".

No state has ever been convicted of genocide by the ICJ. I see the way it will be spun by Pro Israelis if Israel is the first.

And as ever, the land grab goes on -

And the EU says sod all about it. Some pro Israeli posters here are vocal in their opposition to the illegal occupation and expansionism by the Russians in Ukraine, but yet have little to say about Israel doing the same thing

Have you ever seen any of them come on here and denounce any Israeli action? Israel can do no wrong in their eyes if you go by the posts.

A report of US and Israeli barbarism from Al Jazeera

At dawn on August 10, 2024, Yasmin Mahani walked through the smoking ruins of al-Tabin school in Gaza City, searching for her son, Saad. She found her husband screaming, but of Saad, there was no trace.

According to the Al Jazeera Arabic investigation, The Rest of the Story, Civil Defence teams in Gaza have documented 2,842 Palestinians who have “evaporated” since the war began in October 2023, leaving behind no remains other than blood spray or small fragments of flesh.

Experts and witnesses attributed this phenomenon to Israel’s systematic use of internationally prohibited thermal and thermobaric weapons, often referred to as vacuum or aerosol bombs, capable of generating temperatures exceeding 3,500 degrees Celsius [6,332 degrees Fahrenheit].

Well that's not quite true tayto lover. One poster did condem the killing of a sheep. In fairness those soliders probably thought the sheep was a Hamas member in disguise.

American politics bends over again but this time more openly.

In recent years, Malinowski, a former Congress member, has offered only mild criticism of Washington’s unconditional support for Israel, suggesting conditions could be placed on US aid.

That, however, was enough to trigger an onslaught of targeted attack advertisements from the United Democracy Project (UDP), a super PAC linked to AIPAC.

Critics say the campaign against Malinowski is a sign of AIPAC’s zero-tolerance strategy towards any criticism of Israel, despite the risk of blowback from a Democratic electorate increasingly wary of Israel’s actions.

In this case, UDP’s spending appeared to help Mejia, the most critical candidate in the race of US-Israel policy.

Jared may need new speech writers after his unfortunate use of the word master as it evokes memories of the Holocaust and the Master Race.

We have a master plan … There is no Plan B,” remarked Jared Kushner last month, during a Board of Peace (BoP) presentation about Gaza reconstruction at the World Economic Forum (WEF) at Davos.

Two Mossad agents arrested in Turkey -

I wonder how this will end. Those Mossad agents are undermining a lot of countries.

    I will look into this.

This system plainly does not work. Australians desperately need speech protections enshrined in our Constitution, because we cannot trust our leaders to resist efforts to silence us whenever our speech becomes inconvenient to powerful people and influential lobbying groups.

Thank you for the article wildgreen. ⭐️

Online flight trackers show that Benjamin Netanyahu flew hundreds of kilometres through Canadian airspace on his way to meet Trump on Tuesday. Carney was asked last October if "Netanyahu would be arrested if he came to Canada." The prime minister twice responded "yes."

The picture shows a flightpath map with an aircraft entering Newfoundland airspace from the Northeast bearing SW.

The sick jokes of the colonial genocide continue.

Israel has joined US President Donald Trump’s “Board of Peace” initiative, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday during his visit to Washington where he met Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

    Visuals released earlier on Wednesday
after the Netanyahu-Rubio meeting showed them holding a document with Netanyahu’s signature on Israel joining the board. Netanyahu said on X he “signed Israel’s accession as a member of the “Board of Peace.””

Jewish activists have challenged claims featured in a documentary that the British protest group Palestine Action targeted "Jewish-owned businesses", saying that these organisations were selected due to their complicity in Israel’s genocide in Gaza.

a member of the board of peace?

They're still killing hundreds of Gazans during a so-called ceasefire and still preventing 70% of humanitarian aid - that they agreed to let into Gaza.

If Israel is considered a peacekeeper, then so must Putin, Kim Jong Un and a whole rake of other murderous regimes. May as well let Iran join the board of peace…

    The IDF:

strongly condemns any manifestations of violence of any kind

Pull the other one… their actions demonstrate that violence is their raison d'etre.

    haaretz:

IDF soldiers were filmed beating a Palestinian during an arrest in the village of Nabi Saleh in the West Bank, a video posted Monday showed. The IDF said that it had investigated the incident and removed the soldiers from combat duty, adding that it "strongly condemns any manifestations of violence of any kind."

The land grabbing continues depriving Palestinians of their homes and farmers of their livelihoods.

Israel confiscated 200,000 acres in the West Bank's since the 1980s. (1 dunam ~0.25 acre)

    Haaretz:

Alongside constant efforts by Israeli settlers to prevent Palestinians from working their land, the IDF has ordered soldiers to do so as well in the South Hebron Hills, Haaretz has learned.

"Plowing disruption" has become a known code name for military activity for Israeli forces deployed in the area, with troops using specific closed military zone orders and crowd dispersal measures to drive Palestinians away from their fields. In some cases, troops also detained farmers for hours.

Beyond the immediate harm to agricultural output, prolonged prevention of access could ultimately lead to the loss of ownership of the land. If fields are left unplowed, they may be deemed abandoned, making it easier for the state to classify them as state land and assume control. A recent initiative by the Netanyahu government to renew land registration in the West Bank could further accelerate this process.

According to Dror Etkes of the Kerem Navot human rights nonprofit, since the 1980s, Israel has declaredover 800,000 dunams in the West Bank as "state lands… based on the claim that these areas aren't cultivated or not sufficiently cultivated."

I'd imagine many if not all the players are also supportive of a ban.

"Ireland manager Heimir Hallgrímsson has also called on Israel to be banned from international competition, likening their war in Gaza to the Russian invasion of Ukraine"

They put forward a motion to have Israel suspended in November. This indicates they want them banned and have good reason for feeling this way.

All this does is show that they’re spineless and not willing to commit to their beliefs.

They are right though. A country simply cannot refuse to fulfill a fixture under the UEFA or FIFA umbrella, not without being expelled from the competition.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,085 ✭✭✭Rocket_GD

If they have the belief that Israel should be suspended from UEFA, they need to back up their words with actions.

Call me crazy but morality and beliefs should come before football, especially when a Genocidal regime is involved.

Perhaps Israel will refuse to play the antisemitic Irish? Well, they should refuse - unless they're hypocrites? They did pull out their ambassador of course, so they have form.

Maybe Ireland should offer to play them in Herzog park - burying the hatchet and all that?

I think we should go ahead with the two fixtures. Lots of ways the fans (or even players and manager perhaps) can express their displeasure at Israel without refusing to play the games.
