Just picked one up instore (shop beside Naas Tesco Extra), ported from a Tesco Mobile sim. Had to swallow the obligatory €20 VF prepay topup, but apart from that it was smooth sailing.

Can you switch from Gomo? Was planning to move to 5G plan anyway. I could hand over the 4G SIM.

Hey all, does anyone know please how long does it typically take to get a handset delivered from Vodafone's website? I order one on 29th January, got an order confirmation but still haven't got a despatched email. I finally got onto someone on chat on 6th Feb and was advised it was "in the delivery stage, however the order is delayed and should be delivered in a few days".

Not really a fair comparison thats a flag ship phone that was 3x the price when launched. The 9a is a budget phone.

Auto dim is just a setting you can turn off. Pixel phones are not stock android anymore like they used to be. They've been locking features for a while. The rest of it is just personal choice around OS skins.

But we all have things we like and don't like. It's ok not to like it. I miss features from my previous Xiaomi but don't miss the bloat and ads on that phone.

I think the 9a is a solid budget phone. Theres a lot of competition these days though.

Cheers for that, I got this sorted in the end, problem with the address, item is on it's way 😊

It's not really a budget phone though. The recommended price is €400. I would budget phones in the €150 - €250 category.

I bought the one plus for €200 new on Amazon. The phone dims randomly whether you have auto dim on or off. Seems to be a fairly common problem with this model.

I think, bar the camera, that my redmi note 10 phone was easily as good as it.

Its the budget phone of the Pixel line up. Hence the "A"

Comparing an out of date flagship discounted price with a new budget phones list price not the discounted price is disingenuous.

A bug is a bug. There's a workaround. Reset adaptive brightness.

Ordered just before 3pm dispatched at 5.30.

I did have to press the continue button a few times or refresh the page, used a new email, names and disposable revolte card no issues...

Oh I switched using a three SIM I had when I got the 7a deal 2 years ago, I knew it would come in handy at some stage.

I'll keep the Vodafone SIM that comes with this phone, waiting for the next deal 😄

I moved from a Pixel 6 Pro to a OnePlus 13 recently and much prefer the Pixel OS. I've an issue with notifications not arriving sometimes that seems inherent with OnePlus phones and there's no fix, fairly ruins the phone. I definitely wouldn't be raving about OnePlus anyway.

There's no workaround. It keeps happening. Resetting adaptive brightness works for a while then it will randomly dim later on. It happens at least 4 or 5 times a day.

Can't say I'd keep a phone that bugged me like that.

I've never liked the auto dim features on mobiles. It's never right. I usually have it off. Maybe that's why I've not noticed a problem.

I have 2 pixel 9a's a work one and a weekend one, and never noticed this brightness issue, not sure what mine is set to

Auto brightness is a must on phones as outdoor use and bedtime use require very different brightness settings

Is this the best value phone in this price range? Cant see anything comparable for the €200 this is.

Pity the Pixel 9A on offer is only 128gb.

And so many phones nowadays don't accommodate memory cards 🤨

Ordered lunchtime yesterday and dpd delivering tomorrow morning. Does this come with a silicone cover or anything. Also does it have charger with it as lot of the phones recently don't seem to supply charger anymore or else give the cable but don't supply a plug. Moving from a pixel 7A so hoping that will have much improved battery and operating system . The camera in 7a is rated higher than the 9A

Sure if your a "spec purist" its arguable the 7a has the bigger sensor.

But given the target market for A-series phones are cost conscious buyers, the 9a is the better camera system because its vastly superior AI processing and extra features more than make up for the slight reduction in sensor size. For the average user, their photos will have much better light balance and better colour accuracy. 9a also has a macro focus mode for great closeups.

9a also has significantly improved video stabilisation over the 7a. Also supports HDR video, which the 7a does not.
