    Woeful from the sideline.

    Wouldn't see out a good sh*te.

God the more I hear from him the more I shudder. Does the man have no tact? Being Dutch isn't an excuse for being an idiot. There is being direct and then there is being a moron. I'm sorry but regardless of whether or not he considers Jones as a regular starter you build the man up not tear him down. It's man management 101. This is Unbelievably basic stuff that he seems to really struggle with.

At this point his tone deaf comments are as much a reason to get rid as the results. I just don't see him being here the next 5 years or so at this point so might as well just get it over with.

There's not a hope of us getting 5th unless something seriously changes.

We have a real mentality problem, so many times this season we've looked like headless chickens the moment something goes wrong.

The decision to sit back and invite City onto us after scoring was suicide. Our defence has been an issue all season and Macca/Grav have not provided much protection from midfield. Why would we invite them to exploit our weaknesses? Tactical naivety IMO.

Nah it's over man, just forget it. The man doesn't know how to manage a squad of players.

I could have sworn I saw one of the players laughing at Slot when he was shouting at the players

Because the instinct is always to be 'safe'.

If we just keep going in the same way as we were for 20 minutes up to the goal, we probably do see it out.

But as ever, the manager wants us in a weird 'rest defence' a few yards further back, and we give the initiative back.

    Cowardly.

Liverpool with 6 wins, 6 draws, 8 defeats, 24 points in their last 20 Premier League games.

Obviously a different context, but Roy Hodgson had 20 league games in charge of #LFC - 7 wins, 4 draws, 9 losses, 25 points

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,190 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

Just checked and Rodgers had 29 points from his final 20 games before being sacked.

We're on a truly horrid run.

We play a lot of the bottom half between now and the international break in March, plus FA cup and CL so by then we'll know if Slot is likely to hold onto his Job. At the moment it's not looking good, we are struggling to stay ahead of Brentford and Everton, never mind top 5. We need a drastic change in results starting against Sunderland, but, I can't see it, I think by beginning of March it'll be obvious to everyone that top 5 will realistically be gone, so at that point Slot is in real danger of the chop.

I can't see him turn it around, plus he seems to have alienated half the squad with his tone deaf comments, so probably better all around if he goes sooner rather than later. If he limps on into next season, it'll be a disaster as he won't last long and another season will be lost, would rather the new guy gets the last few games to get a feel of the squad available and what needs to be done for next season.

    Unlucky?

You make your own luck. Slot seems to disregard that style of thinking.

    Yeah I taught the same

But a different angle wasn't shown

Guess it was a stonewall peno

I don't think he'll be here anyway next season even if we win every game between now and the end of the season.

    Manager is shite

    Majority of players are shite

    Shite subs

= no champions lge for nxt season

    Ive accepted it now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,611 ✭✭✭Girly Gal

That would change things, bring us to 78 points I think and probably up to 2nd or 3rd so in that scenario he would definitely stay, but, realistically we look like struggling to get 58 Points and top 6!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,317 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

On this, Gravenberch in the 6 is more of a problem than Macca in the 8, in my opinion.

i watched the last 3 live streams, they were good fun

Hmmm, not sure that was a penalty after. Ali saves that with his elbow.

Some mad takes in here but people thinking we'll still finish top 4 are the best. I said it earlier today anything we've done this season has been flash in the pan and happened in a vacuum (mainly due to players doing a moment of magic - szob, Hugo or wirtz) then we revert to the mean - and the mean since last March has been terrible.

We're so flakey and easy to rattle the second city scored you just knew we'd concede again, it's just the way the season is going for us. This isn't a vintage city side and we're 1 nil up at home with 5 minutes to go and lose is unforgivable. I can't believe I'm still seeing people defending Slot I think it's clear as day he cannot stop this slump (24 points in the last 20 games) and he's a huge part of the problem.

Unless he wins the champions league (very very unlikely based on my viewing) I believe he'll be let go and personally I'd be hitting up Alonso/Enrique right now. I think Slot did well last season but it was a bit of a perfect storm for him. He had Klopps teams and work ethic and tweaked it slightly to great avail, particularly in the first half of the season. He was also massively helped by City, United, Chelsea and even Arsenal to a degree having off seasons.

This season the Klopp mentality has faded but nothing has replaced it so we're left playing this kind of ghost football. Neither pressing nor counter attacking but passing the ball constantly sideways and backwards for large portions of the match. We also only seem to be able to play for 45 minutes in every match. Theres something very wrong with our strength and conditioning surely this all can't be down to Jota?

At a loss as to what Slott can even do now I don't think he's lost the dressing room but it can't be far off - no one's buying what he's selling anymore in terms of the opposition. Baring a miracle this season is a write off let's hope there's no lasting damage done.

We didn't deserve to win that bit to throw away another positive position late ln is unforgivable.

24 points on 20 league games.

    6 league sins since September

I've never known it this bad.

    Club are sleepwalking. Its infuriating

Slot and co are done. Be brave, make the decision and try and salvage it. The alternative is limp out of Europe and fail to qualify next year. All downside and no upside sticking it out imo

I think last season is stopping some from comprehending fully how bad it is. It's at least as bad as Hodgson.

It should be clear. Salah's final burst of being the best in the world, for 6 months, papered over the cracks of a manager who has slowly sucked all the vitality, verve, pace and risk out of a team that i loved.

Let's have a little perspective on the Hodgson stuff people keep bringing up.

When Liverpool sacked Hodgson, we were 12th in the table, 4 points off relegation. We were knocked out in the 3rd rounds of the FA Cup and League Cup and lost to Braga in the last 16 of the Europa League. That was January 8th.

By all means, have the opinion that Slot should go and he's done or whatever. But comparing our current plight to Hodgson is nonsense.

Whining about it not being the Klopp used to it is embarrassing, he was not without his faults either.

We don’t have the squad to play like that and it was unsustainable. Given with what happened over the summer and the current players available I don’t think Klopp would have done better. Arguably he might have run players into the ground and have less of a selection.

Whether or not Slot goes, taking his influence away from us winning the league is poor form.

It’s just a mess of a season. It happens. Maybe an interim manager might help but at this point I don’t know.

The longer this goes on the more those questions become relevant

Could Slot win. league by buildkng a team of his own?

Can he win a league if City don't collapse?

Could he win a league if Mo isn't having his best season?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,873 ✭✭✭✭8-10

Yes, Yes, No for me. Salah has to go in the summer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,820 ✭✭✭✭noodler

It's the worst Liverpool have statistically been since Hodgson in the league though.

Worth remembering the context of both as well. The club started the season as champions and with 450m.of.transfers in.

I'm honestly not sure who we'd get in if we sacked him.now.and sadly that's the only thing that you stop me doing it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,369 ✭✭✭brevity

I think he can build a team of his own cos he did it in Feyenoord but I know it will be harder in the PL

I think Slot is a good manager but I think he is having a bad season. The fine margins and individual errors have killed us this year. The football being dull is a consequence of everything else and feels like a means to an end. I don’t believe that this is Slot’s ideal way of playing and he definitely needs more players but he also needs to get them integrated in a better way.

There is no argument it's been a disastrous league campaign. Disastrous.

In his defence we didn't add 450m to the squad that won the league. We lost key players and you can include the last seasons version of Salah in it. The recruitment in the summer has left him with an unbalanced, shallow squad. Look at the state of the left and right wing, it's non existent. Instead of replacing Diaz we use the 2nd choice left winger who is painfully one dimensional. And I'm sorry lads we all love Salah but he should be first out the door in the summer, he's done.
