Fair play to Waterford lads a much deserved win, i knew coming down that it'd be close so not surprised there. I keep saying it any!! Of the 5 teams in munster can get out there's no guarantees for any team from a Limerick perspective we have such a tough start 1st match away to cork(and them having played the week before)then away to clare so we could be on the back foot straight away but we'll see.

Can't remember who suggested the pubs but we went to is it the the tap? Then across to Alfie hales we'd a great few hours

Great result yesterday and one I was not expecting after last week. I might have expected some redemption but not in the form of a win, delighted for that lads and management team.

Can't comment on the game as I was away so I only had Twitter feeds and the Sunday game to rely on.

Brian Lynch from Clashmore seems like a good addition. He’s well able to get stuck in. Power had some good moments in defense too so hopefully he can keep improving. I’m not convinced about the positioning of Mark Fitz but a win is a win. Hopefully Prunty is ok but it looked like a quad injury and I think that’s been his trouble in the past (correct me if I’m wrong though) .

Rheuben is excellent on the frees and the best since a young Mahoney came along.

I’m sure most genuine contributors to this thread will Appreciate your post. On a lot of occasions when a rival ‘fan’ comes to another county’s thread it’s usually trolling/ref/player bashing etc……re the game, the Penalty decision and black card was harsh especially when you see it on TV, It probably swung the game in waterford’s favour even though without it we still would have scraped a win……as many have said it’s nothing to get too excited about as It’s only one league win in February but given the thumping from last wk by Cark and the other poor performances it was a good feeling to get a win over a top class opposition who looked rusty here and there but we still saw glimpses of the 2020 to 2024 Limerick and with guys the likes of guillane etc to come back they will be a different proposition come April/May…..hopefully with the return of the Ballygunner lads plus a few more we just might have enough to retain division 1A status and also maybe scrape out of Munster round robin once and for all. I doubt John Kiely will be loosing too much sleep about the game.?

Re your post game choices…..Tap room and Alfie Hayes are decent ‘boozers’ (Even-though I haven’t been in either in ages), glad to hear you had a nice experience after the game…..Alfie might not have had many Gaa clientele though🤣

after Offaly next weekend (who we should beat but you’d never know) does anyone know the next few games dates and times…..will a victory v Offaly be enough to stay in Div 1A…? Of Tipp, Galway, and KK, all difficult games……A draw or narrow 1pt win Galway or KK is possible but I’d imagine Tipp might ‘eat’ us like cork…?

    22nd away to kilkenny 13:45

1st March away to Galway 2pm

8th March home to Tipp 15:15

I'd be targeting both the Offaly and Kilkenny games to try and ensure division 1 status.

much like last years championship, wouldn't want to be going into the last game hoping tipp will do us a favour . realistically you have to try and win every game ,bottom two are relegated ,2 wines might be enough, but again you are relying on other teams doing you favours in that position ,also i would never underestimate Offaly or any other team , they will have at least one big game , you have to treat them with respect and let someone else get the shock result ,wexford needed a luck goaly to beat antrim last week and only got past down by 2 points at the weekend, we aren't that much different from them

Some performance yesterday from the lads, delighted for them. Ruben showing what everyone who watches hurling in Waterford knew already.

Definitely a different style of hurling witnessed yesterday starting to take shape, much more progressive, which might have something to do with duck. Also worth noting is was shane O'Sullivan's first week with the team, might also have helped!

    Up the Deise!!

I thought the black card was harsh if I'm being honest , I thought the ref was poor but for both teams. Munster as we all know is a bear pit for all 5.

Re The pubs I know what you mean re alfies but we enjoyed it i had forgotten my Limerick top so nobody would have known where we were from but I did hear lads talking about the match alright

Has Dowling been keeping his head down since last week's piece, or is he doing a similar one on Offaly which will spur them on to a victory on Sunday………?

With Prunty out, who will get the No.3 jersey………the young Duignan fellow usually plays as a traditional FF and is big and strong and can 'hurl' and could do damage if not properly marked, Iarlaith Daly maybe? Also Screeney is their other 'danger' man…….any ideas on who might pick him up, Conor Keane??

quick one lads … has any Munster senior hurling championship fixtures been 100% locked in yet. I can find weekends but not exact fixtures so I’m guessing not ?

A win for Waterford would give a great chance of surviving in the div 1. Although Galway would fancy their chances of beating offally and Waterford too.

Ballygunner lads surely back training by now you'd think. Maybe a few might be eased back in Sunday, if not starting

I’d say we’ll see much of the same side that did the job last week. Obviously Prunty is out but other than that I can’t see them changing it much despite the Ballygunner lads back in training this week. Beat Offaly Sunday and Queally is in a great position heading into the 2 week break with all these lads to come back to try and break into a winning team.

read a report the gunners are back in the camp this week, he will want to put minutes into them and dry them out , prunty will likely be out of the league so we will need to bed down our FB, arguably other than goalie the most important position ( we can survive a midfielder strike/halfback/wingback having a bad day ,but a FB on a bad day we will have a day like we had down in cork in 2011

The games are spaced out nicely.

Just need now to get Aussie match fit !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 599 ✭✭✭IanVW

Think 9 ballygunner players back training

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26 westwaterfordaqua

Offaly will have no fear coming to Walsh park and will have likely targeted this game considering how familiar they would have got with Waterford last year.

I still think Waterford should get the job done but not sure if management can afford not to be playing some of the gunners Sunday especially with the likes of Prunty missing. Offaly have a dangerous forward line and would like to see Aaron O’Neill get a shot.

    Huge game for both teams.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,385 ✭✭✭seananigans

As i said previously, Offaly deserve every bit of respect ,they will take a scalp , hopefully it will be against KK and not us, they are a tough proud hurling county and if we take them for granted they know how to make hay

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,098 ✭✭✭DiscoStew

Glad to see Aaron O’Neill get a chance. I think it’s right to leave the other Ballygunner players get some training under their belt, manage any knocks they might have from a long club campaign etc.

Good to see Carthach Daly back also. Hopefully he can get a run of games together. Think I’d prefer to see Iarlath at 3 and Mark Fitz at 6, but that may happen on the day.

Treen and Power probably unlucky to drop out but will surely feature again in the league.

we are not losing to Offaly relax .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,999 ✭✭✭Asdfgh2020

like your confidence….. and on paper and recent fixtures you are correct they should win by 6 pts plus but…….there is always the ‘Offaly factor’ of old as in they will never throw in the towel and fight like dogs (beautiful dogs 🤣) to the end…🤔
