Why is the Rugby on VM 1 and VM 4?

I would also say that some of them may have liked it as a "job"; in small communities priests were active in all walks of life, if you were one of those people who liked sticking your oar in everything and talking at people then it probably suited.

    And having the power.

Our local parish priest still carries a lot of clout. It'll fade as the older generation dies out, but at present he still carries a lot of sway about here.

That must be Nigel with the brie...

In The Truman Show were the producers planning to let Truman live his whole life as a lie or would they have told him the truth at some stage, maybe on his death bed, for a huge ratings boost?

I wonder if he had kids would they have gotten a spin-off show of their own?

It is. I just got some fresh popcorn just now to sit down and watch you for the rest of the day.

I wonder would dead body smell as bad as chicken scrap's from a bin.

Surely nothing could smell as bad as that.

How a human can fly from Dublin to London Stansted for €33 return ( see mid March prices ) and a ten kilogram bag costs €55 for same flight .

I haven’t checked but supposing that the average adult weighs about seventy kilograms thats €0.47 cents per kilogram for human beings and €5.50 for luggage 😂

By the way I love what Ryanair have done for the travel industry.

I know someone who got some of his family to accompany him to Germany and then get the next plane home.

Cheaper than paying for excess baggage.

Why so many comedians are just not naturally funny people. They can write funny material and deliver it but if they are taking outside their stage persona they are not remotely funny. We all know people the life and soul of a party who are naturally funny without making an effort.

I heard a point recently where someone argued that sports which need judges are inferior to sports which are won or lost by objective means.

Boxing/MMA came to mind. If you wanted the result to be entirely objective fights would keep going until someone was knocked out, submitted or their corner threw in the towel. Not a “fight to the death”, but until someone just couldn’t continue. Last man standing wins.

That would be quite the spectacle.

The Diaz brothers would have done very well under those rules. They had insane cardio and durability.

it would lead to lot of life altering injuries in my opinion. Ref doesn’t just decide who wins, he’s there to protect both opponents because often a contestant doesn’t know when they’re beaten/concussed and will continue if allowed. Their corner may not want to call it either. Thinking of MMA mainly here.

That's the way it was years ago in boxing they had 100 rounds or more. And a lot of the time obviously the fight wouldn't go that far.

Just heard on the Brendon OcConnor show that someone called Bad Bunny was the biggest recording artist in the world last year. Bigger even than Daniel O’Donnell.

How did I not know that . I never heard of him.

Maybe they meant biggest physically 🤔

Never heard of him either. Big in the Latin world apparently.

Lack of rain out west. I was in Mayo today visiting relatives and a field that floods every winter was bone dry. All grass. I couldn't believe it considering all the rain warnings. I don't know where the swans went that are usually there enjoying themselves from Iceland spending the winter in warm Ireland.

So yea the west got a lack of rain the past two weeks.

You’re right, for the first time that I can remember we have had less rain and flooding than the east coast. We only had ‘normal’ rain.

Why, how do people enjoy American football. Just heading to bed now after enduring twenty minutes of football where the ball has been in play for about three minutes of that time.
Changing teams, changing players, flucking and fannying around . With special mention for cricket, golf, horse racing and dog racing this “ sport “ has to be the greatest abomination masquerading as entertainment.

I’m constantly wondering, and I wonder why that is? 🤷🏼‍♂️

I’m wondering if this problem delivery I’m waiting on will be resolved. I’d be satisfied with a refund now to be honest I’ve a lot going on this week and emailing this rude incompetent dipshît going back and forth tomorrow again isn’t appealing to me at all…

I’m also wondering about younger people and tiktok… my cousins kid, about 24 is in some group live with friends since about 11.15pm yesterday, it’s 3.21am now…. Im genuinely wondering what is the enjoyment of going online broadcasting yourself is ? Hours at it… how with that cohort is that more appropriate and appealing then just having your own group chat on Whatspp or FB… 😵‍💫 don’t get it.

All set plays, very little free flowing play.

Sport by spread sheet I've heard someone describing it.

It's because we have been conditioned to assume everything from the US is amazing and better than anything else. It's all marketeting, bullying and bullshit. The fact that our minds are now controlled via US social media is also a huge factor.

I wonder if an eye-witness is about to take the stand in a trial and they have a photographic memory, would the solicitor be allowed to let the jury know that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,465 ✭✭✭jacool

Yes it is. We aren't always able to watch it live though, as we have the other lives to follow too, hence late reply.

Sadly, we don't always have fresh popcorn when we do!

It was nice of you to correct that spelling error though, as you typed that message, so that the "spelling nazis" weren't activated on this thread.

We like your hair the way it is now, by the way. (86%-14% in favour, last vote)

Is there actually a country in the world who have an efficient and functioning A&E system at the hospitals?

We all know in Ireland, and indeed the UK, if you head along to A&E any day you'll likely be waiting 12hr minimum to be seen. Sometimes you could be waiting days.

And yes, I know its only a tv programme, but on The Pitt, it shows the same situation in the USA, with fed up people backed up in waiting rooms. So I assume the makers of the show are simply being realistic?

So if this is the case, wondering if its the same the world over, or have certain countries got it cracked and if you head to A&E you'll not end up losing days of your life?

Just heard on the Brendon O'Connor show

    There's your problem 😀

check out france and spain. You can attend a&e in france, be seen by doctor, have bloods taken and get results and be discharged with prescription within 4 hours. Guess what, they pay more for their health system and it’s more efficient

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,389 ✭✭✭✭kneemos

Money isn't the issue. We have a very well financed health service. Staff shortages and work practices may be a big part of the problem.

The private sector is way more efficient.

As the poster above has said, it definitely not lack of money. We spend €20bn every year on health system, there should be no reason its as messy as it is.

Interesting to hear about France. I wonder are their A&Es full of people who dont really need to be there, like ours.
