Brother brought an egr for his car, but it is the connector; it is a 5-pin instead of a 6-pin. Pic one is the connector in the new egr second is the old connector. Is there any adapter he could use to connect the new 5-pin to the 6-pin connector, without taking the new egr out? It is a hassle to do the job

He was told there were two different types, and it fits perfectly.

I just drove to Dublin yesterday to help fit it to take it out again. It's a pain to take out

What car is it and what brand is the new egr? The extra pin is likely for a position sensor or extra motor the new egr doesn't have if populated or it may run on a completely different voltage or pricincipal (pwm etc) Pain or not it's coming back out

If im doing work on the cars , i try to buy online but with things like that i generally buy from motor factors.

Generally get the right part off the motor factor from the reg. If not , they normally have it the next morning.

I have been caught with door locks where the plugs are different .

That said , motor factor can be a rob in comparison .

Examples. FAG wheel bearing for my A4 is 95 from motor factors. 43 from autodoc.

Father bought a battery from motor factor 250. Online 120.
