Another 32 killed today the so called ceasefire seems only to have taken the day to day killings off the main news so Israel can carry on using any excuse to continue killing .However Hamas have to know they will never bomb Israel off the map so they have to somehow make some sort of a deal that might get some international support to put pressure on Israel .

So the 70,000 dead figure was admitted by the IDF:

    https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/idf-believes-70000-gazans-killed-in-war-as-claimed-by-hamas-civilian-terrorist-ratio-still-unknown/

    https://blogs.timesofisrael.com/you-dont-have-a-numbers-problem-you-have-a-truth-problem/

But that doesn't end the argument about the 70,000. Online, I’m encountering supporters of Israel who now deny that the Gaza Health Ministry figures were ever disputed by the Israeli government or IDF despite the fact that I’ve listened to such denials for two years! Is there a file of such denials I can access to illuminate the darkness of my Internet brethren?

Even Piers Morgan had several major arguments with these wasters about the death totals, when it would have been obvious to anyone that tens of thousands of civilians had been killed.

I'm not an expert but anyone whose cutting edge warfare technology consists of paraglider, Toyota Landcruisers and home made rockets is hardly likely to blow the skin off a rice pudding.

That a State with the very latest technology in weaponry, aircraft and intelligence has not managed to fulfil its aim of defeating Hamas in two years, is also very telling.

Both Hamas and the IDF are as bad as each other. The world sees this. Even today, during a ceasefire, Israel murders over 30 including women and kids.

There is plenty of public support for the Palestinians but whilst there is a lot of vocal condemnation of Israel, there is virtual no concrete action taken against them. They couldn't even chuck them out of Eurovision.

But karma has a nasty habit of turning up just when you thought you were in the clear.

Morgan was able to tear them to shreds simply because they continued to do what they always do. Lie. They are adept at it, they even give it a name themselves - "Hasbara".

Many journalists over two years have done the same - drive time and particularly Sarah McInerney ran rings around them.

Of course, remember that the 70,000 figure is only those who have been positively identified. Not included are those not identified (buried under rubble, vaporised), those who starved to death, those who died of hypothermia, those who died for lack of medical care etc.

70,000 is not the final tally. I think you could treble that number easily enough - and even then, as we see, Israel continues its extermination of Palestinians.

I'd say a cursory google search would pull up many idf and Israeli govt officials and mouthpieces stating exactly that over the years. There are plenty of receipts.

But Israeli supporters, in my opinion, will do a 180 on pretty much anything when they're caught red handed telling whoppers. Reminds me a lot of trump supporters.

You'll never illuminate them - they don't want to be. They'll blindly swallow and then regurgitate the Hasbara. They'll double down at every turn.

How they can see the murder of 50,000 women and children as justifiable by any measure is beyond me. And I suspect beyond the ken of most.

Seems Alleged War Criminal #1 (at large) was as concerned as Hamas were for the hostages (we'll know for over two years of course)

    Haaretz:

    "
To this day, [Netanyahu] has not met the majority of the [Hamas captivity] survivors, some of whom have met Trump once or even more.

Netanyahu has not invited them to come see him, since he doesn't have the courage to look them in the eyes and tell them why he left them there long after the war had become pointless, continuing in auto-mode while exacting a high price for the lives of soldiers.

The press conference he convened this week was a pitiful spectacle. A collection of lies and manipulations. A few slip-ups here and there, increasing as he grows older, no longer surprised anyone.

The fact that Nitzan Alon, the reserve general who commanded the intelligence efforts related to the hostages and missing persons, who was responsible, with his team, for the return of 99 percent of the hostages, was not invited, was also no surprise"

I'd imagine the Israeli Govt will cock-a-hoop about this and will tell everyone how great the economy is. Of course, failing to mention their rating remains the lowest in history…

But sure, they can still afford to pay the US 6 billion for military equipment, including Apache Helicopters (the same as the ones used when carrying out Hannibal Directive orders which resulted in scores of Israelis being killed by the idf)7

Moody's raised Israel's credit outlook from negative to stable, citing reduced security risks following the Gaza cease-fire, while reaffirming the country's Baa1 rating – the lowest in its history. Moody's pointed to relatively healthy GDP growth and continued investment in the technology sector. It also cited Israel's strong market access, but warned that Israel's security and geopolitical environment remains vulnerable.

I reckon Trump is terrible for Israel at this point. Most people can see they are in his rogues gallery of dodgy states like Russia, Belarus, Hungary, Argentina etc and are to all intents and purposes anti-EU and anti-NATO.

Global support for Palestine is steadfast and eternal.

Tens of thousands of people marched through the streets of London on Saturday in support of the Palestinian people and in condemnation of ongoing Israeli violations.

The demonstration was held under slogans calling for an end to the war of genocide in the Gaza Strip, a halt to the arming of "Israel", and non-interference in the affairs of the besieged enclave.

"prevented by the aggressors." Are you sure that Israel is "the aggressor?" I would argue that the events of 7/Oct/23 were provocation, as was the beginning of rocket attacks from Lebanon the following day. I would be much more sympathetic to these views if Israel were actually the aggressor and not a country that gets attacked repeatedly.

Noble sentiments, but, sadly, they don't change anything on the ground.

IT WAS A TRUMP AND NETANYAHYU MASTERFUL STROKE MAKING IT LOOK LIKE A CEASEFIRE AND SOLUTION WAS IN PLACE

GIVING THE APPEARANCE OF A CEASEFIRE, BUT, IN REALITY, NOTHING HAS CHANGED FOR PALESTINE. GAZA REMAINS RUBBLE, AND TRUMP’S FRIENDS ... PARTY ON THEIR BONES

I DON’T THINK IT’S JUST THE PALESTINIANS WHO ARE COLLECTIVELY SHOCKED INTO SILENCE. IT’S ALSO PEOPLE IN THE WORLD, WHO DON’T WANT TO SEE HOW THEY’VE BEEN DECEIVED AND MANIPULATED, AND WOULD RATHER CLING TO THE ILLUSION THAT THERE’S A PEACE PROCESS

Peace, peace, but there is no peace

“After two years of genocide, the outcome that is being laid out for the people of Gaza — and the Palestinian people as a whole — is the creation of a dystopian reality that sees the building of luxury resorts on top of their destroyed homes and communities.

[AND ^ built on top of Palestinian children’s bones]

    [...]
But what’s actually happening on the ground started well before the technocratic committee was formed. Israel’s longstanding plans for Gaza — to corral its population into concentrated zones ahead of their possible expulsion — have been silently unfolding on the ground. Last week, Drop Site News revealed documents obtained from the U.S.-Israeli military and civil command center in Israel showing preparations for a residential area to be built in Rafah. According to Drop Site, if developed, the “planned community” in Rafah “would contain and control its residents through biometric surveillance, checkpoints, monitoring of purchases, and educational programs promoting normalization with Israel,” comparing it to a panopticon. Rafah was completely leveled by the Israeli army earlier in 2025.
    [...]

“This idea to “concentrate” Palestinians into a highly surveilled area is in line with previous statements made by Israeli Defense Minister, Israel Katz, who said last July that Palestinians who would be allowed into the so-called “humanitarian city” — proposed to be built over Rafah’s ruins — would NOT be allowed to leave it. STARRY: The National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG) - committee of Palestinian technocrats to oversee day-to-day governance in Gaza - are about to enter the strip

NCAG is subordinate to what’s being called Trump’s new global conflict-resolution platform ... coming to a place near you

    Mondoweiss
‘How Israel and the U.S. are using the ‘shock doctrine’ to impose a new administration in Gaza’

‘The U.S.-sanctioned “Board of Peace” is imposing a colonial mandate in Gaza. It is the latest example of the "shock doctrine," with the U.S. and Israel attempting to transform Palestinian society in Gaza after destroying it through genocide’

    https://mondoweiss.net/2026/01/how-israel-and-the-u-s-are-using-the-shock-doctrine-to-impose-a-new-administration-in-gaza/

    [...]

“The circumstances under which the NCAG came to be give it very little leeway to relieve the catastrophic conditions of Palestinians in Gaza WITHOUT ISRAELI COOPERATION. In effect, this means acquiescing to Israeli conditions. Yet Israel hasn’t even met its commitments within the current phase of the ceasefire, allowing less than half of the agreed quantity of aid to enter Gaza, according to the World Food Program. Israel has also blocked the entry of construction material and continued deadly strikes across the Strip, and yet Palestinian factions who had previously demanded that the new authority in Gaza be supervised by the UN are now willing to form a committee at the complete mercy of Israel, Trump, and his “Peace” Board.
    [...]

“Palestinians find themselves abandoned by the world amid these tectonic shifts, their lives treated as pawns in the hands of the new global players while their own political forces remain fragmented — contained, co-opted, or decimated. The result is that after over a hundred years of resistance to colonialism, Palestinians today have no choice but to accept the unacceptable.

^Yours is not a very historically informed viewpoint. There is much aggression before October 7, but I'm sure you know this.

How unfair. Like the French resistance constantly attacking the occupying Germans.

This is what some are justifying.

    Absolutely disgusting. Zero moral compass.

If it was an Israeli or Jewish child, there would be apoplectic rage.

The photograph posted today shows exactly who the aggressor is. Take a good long look at it.

You continually keep going back over two years ago to try and justify the horrific behaviour of Israel toward civilians in Gaza.

As for Israel "being attacked repeatedly", you're clutching at straws with that old canard. Just like the "existential threat" myth.

Israel is the aggressor - they've murdered over 500 during the ceasefire. They'll murder more.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,204 ✭✭✭Ardillaun

Is there anywhere where this record of denial by the Israeli government has been collected? As I say, people are denying they denied anything now and urge everybody to ‘move on’.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 5,785 ✭✭✭dmcdona

The only one currently reneging on the ceasefire is Israel.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are killing more Palestinians to provoke them into retaliation. If they do retaliate, Israel will cease all aid and there will be more starvation. In fairness, Israeli politicians have stated that from day one - no food, no water to Gaza (alleged war criminal #2 - at large).

"The IDF has operational plans to conquer the Strip if the cease-fire agreement collapses. However, the directive issued to the army is not to hamper the implementation and not to anger the Americans. The next flashpoint may erupt around the Rafah crossing"

    Amos Harel (Haaretz)

Israeli Arabs have had enough. What will Israel do?…

"The crowds that filled central Tel Aviv on Saturday evening did not come out for a symbolic gesture or yet another "momentary protest," but as a clear civic declaration: Arab citizens of Israel are no longer willing to accept a reality of lawlessness, violence, exclusion and the continued erosion of their rights.

This was not a fringe demonstration, nor the protest of a single political camp.

It was the protest of an entire public.

Anyone who came looking for signs of division in the mass gathering was disappointed.

What stood out above all was a message of unity: people arrived from across the political spectrum and from all communities"

    Jack Khoury (Haaretz)

And so we get to the heart of the matter "renouncing Zionism." As I understand it, "Zionists" are those who want to maintain ONE Jewish state. As I understand it, they're perfectly satisfied for 99.6% of the MENA region to be occupied by Islamic states, with around 50-odd such countries in the MENA region and beyond.

According to some, one Jewish state in the world is too many, the 50+ Islamic states in the world are not enough. The actions of Zionists are irrelevant - the mere existence of a Jewish homeland is the problem.

I can understand why Nazis and Islamists would have this view, but I don't know why anyone else should.

A few things stand out there.

The notion of a Jewish state in a country where 20% of the population is non-Jewish is perverse.

Secondly, the idea of a Jewish state is grand in theory - trouble is, the artificial state they call Israel was established on territory stolen from the indigenous Arab population by a bunch of interlopers from Eastern Europe.

The establishment of a Jewish state necessitated the eviction of three quarters of a million Palestinians, the theft of their land and property and the murder of several thousands more.

Of the original cabinet of fifteen that initially ruler over the stolen Palestinian land, only one of them was born in Palestine.

The rest were squatters from Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Germany.

Does this narrative include almost all of the Mizrahi Jews, MENA natives, who migrated to Israel in the mid-20th century? Are they "squatters" too?

I think you misunderstand what you are referring to as “Islamic States” Just because a country is majority Muslim doesn’t make them an Islamic state Iran and Saudi Arabia are Islamic States.

Israel is not bordered by any Islamic state. Depending on how you define the countries of MENA, less than 20% are Islamic states

Only three countries were founded strictly as religious states.
    Vatican City, Israel and Pakistan.
Do you think there should be more religious states?
