I can't get logged into my 365 app this morning.

It seems to be spinning longer on the RUNNING SECURITY CHECKS screen, then it goes back to login screen and says my login attempt failed.

When you open the app, you'll see a red box at the top of the screen with a notice saying that Android users are having issues but they can fix the problem by enabling push notifications.

Thanks. Didn't even notice that message!

Tried making a transfer to another account, and got messages saying "service not available at the moment". Same whether on Android phone app or on DesptopPC. What with the exact name verification thing etc, the BoI online service is becoming virtually unusable. However I can transfer money between my accounts.

    WHat's up?

The only help desk that worked for me was the old-fashioned human being in the local branch. Apparently there are now 3 options when you make a transfer: Urgent, Standard and Later at a specific time. The Urgent category is new and it gives the service not available message. The Standard option works OK. The local branch had other queries on this exact point. B of I tech department is dreadful

My app tonight is asking me to set up a new 6 digit pass code.

Thats fair enough. I enter my new pass code twice, but there is no enter or go button, so the app just sits there, you cant proceed.

I had same issue - hit the next / continue button on your phone keypad and the actual app buttons appeared.

    Still not working.

First GO takes you to the 2nd entry of the pass code.

Then GO from there drops the keyboard off the screen and there is no way of leaving that screen.

Tried clicking on the number entries again and no good.

Reduced the font size and could then see it.

Where is that rolling eyes emoji?

From the beginning of March you have to be using above Android 10 on your device for to be able use BOI mobile app. I'm using a perfectly good mobile phone that's 6 years old but using Android 9.2 so I won't be able to use the app? Bit rediculas

While I can appreciate the frustration, Android 9 was released 7.5 years ago, and stopped receiving even security updates (vs functional updates) 4 years ago, so your issue is really with the phone manufacturer who have elected not to make Android 10 or later available for that handset model. If they were selling it new 6 years ago, then a 2 year support lifespan for the handset on their part is very poor.

What’s with BoI App’s new login? Why go from 3 random numbers from your passcode to the full 6?
I thought they were upgrading their app to try and match Revolu’s ease of use. is this it?

I think there's a nuance that your post overlooks, specifically that post this change you're ideally creating a new passcode (and it may be that the passcode is per-device, but I'm not sure, as the wording could be read a couple of ways), and that passcode is for mobile only, whereas if you need to use the phone service (or install/recover the app anew), you're still using the PIN and subset of digits from same.

Of course human and user nature being what it is, because both the PIN and passcode requirements are a six digit number, I imagine a huge amount of customers will simply set the same value for both, thus negating the potential security improvement. Realistically they should have put a different structure or format on the passcode to force customers to come up with a new secret for that purpose.

BOI even accept a new pass code thats the same as the old code. The new system appears to be less secure, as the phone's passcode manager can now store the code. I would love to know the business reasoning behind the change. Did it come 'down from on high' and the staff with experience just blindly complied?
