Used to say a whole bad February led to a good year.

Haven't studied if these two predictions are true lately.

Sunny and overcast here in Longford with a South/East breeze - temp is showing 8.3c.

The ground is saturated, I nearly lost the left foot of my wellies when I was walking down a hill towards the lake to gather a few rushes to make St. Brigid's cross's for the house, cattle sheds and vehicles and I had to turn back. OH said he will get them for me when he comes home later.

Bitterly cold in NW with a bracing breeze.Has been dry since Friday…..giving the land a slight respite from the weeks on end of rain.

Listening to radio and driving conditions to be poor for next week…..presume that means Snow ⛄️ and frost 🥶 are on the way😫

Proper February weather. A wind from the East or South East that would cut to your bones.

It feels like snow in the air alright.

Was at a game last night, on a grass pitch. Mens team. Not a mark on the pitch after. Bitter cold but dry. Toes are still cold. Was expecting the game to be cancelled

Tis a bad night, I heard a door rattling in the wind so I had to go outside to close it. A strong, cold breeze from the East and hailstones with it.

Normal service resumed, and just like that the 2026 spring slurry spreading season is closed.

“Fine weather brings out the cows” and “Big improvement in weather comes at the right time” according to Aidan Brennan. He must be off on one of his all expenses paid factory journal junkets to Florida again.

A bad a day as I've seen in a long time. I set up a weather station on the farm in the last moth as I thought it would be interesting to have the information but now it's nearly depressing me. 19.3 mm fell here since 12 last night soil temp is 7.6 degrees Celsius and soil moisture is 75% so back to square one here.

Milk lorry driver who is Polish was here before 7pm saying he was collecting at another farm in the mountains and the snow was bad around that farm. He didn't like it one bit going there.

Hopefully not. They are hardy bucks and will go back to their old nesting sites. Most of the swallows nests in our sheds are intact from Autumn.
