I'm not from the area but will be participating. It's run by the Bear group as far as I know but I haven't seen too much about it online e.g. running pages on Facebook etc

Anyone done it before? How was the event, course, parking etc?

I haven't done it, but I'm pretty sure the route is - 10k out and back from town centre to Ballymascanlon roundabout, 1/2 marathon is this x 2 - not ideal. But it's flat. It's fairly exposed to wind in places, but conditions look ok.

Plenty of parking along the streets, around town. Other parking options - Longwalk shopping centre (less than 500m away from start) Marshes shopping centre (less than 1km), can't remember if free on Sunday, but only a few €€ otherwise. Tesco Extra has loads of free parking (also about 1km away).

Did it last year and am from the area. For parking head to the Longwalk or the car park across from it, you come in from the Train Station side. Its a good event, you do the same loop twice so one wee hill, but you do it twice. And its not much of a hill at all. Plenty of places for coffee/snack/food/pint close to the finish as well
