Maybe it just me, but no matter how i try cook sweet potato fries in the air fryer, i cant seem to get them right/tasty.

Chop up my spud, coat them in some spices/bit of oil, into the Ninja air fryer, but never come out right.

Any tips /tricks to get them right/ tasting decent ?

    Thanks.

When you say not right what do you mean exactly, like not crispy enough?

I par boil mine for a few mins, allow them to steam dry completely and then I oil and season them. They need plenty of space if you want any chance of getting some crispy edges so ensure they're spaced out evenly and not overcrowded. I turn them just after half way and they come out quite well.

Never going to be as good as restaurants who mainly deep fry them but still perfectly decent.

Yes , not crispy enough, some seem to burn /charred taste off them, I do try to cut them evenly , have the 2 drawer Ninja , so throw equal parts into each tray .

What seasoning do you use to spruce them up ?

Depends on what they're going with, don't really use any set seasonings. Peri Peri salt is good, a bit of cumin and flaky sea salt, Hot and smoked Paprika, MSG always is a good shout (I know some people don't like using it) with some chilli powder.

Par boiling and drying them does make a difference, does add a bot of time on though. Just maker sure they're roughly the same size, well spread out and well covered with oil.

Maybe you just don't really like sweet potato fries? I don't. Ordered them way too many times before realising that I just don't care for them. They will never be like potato chips.

Sweet potatoes don't benefit from par-boiling, ime. You need to toss them in cornflour after you oil and season them to get them in any way crispy. Although tbh even deep-fried restaurant ones don't stay crispy very long.

My seasoning of choice is cumin, smoked paprika and garlic. Mix the oil and seasoning together and toss the fries in the lot, obvs.

Yes i do like them, that's why i am try to cook them tasty at home, minus the deep fried effect.

sprinkle them with baking soda and then wipe it off before adding oil
