Or even a repeat of last Spring which was lovely. It helped the clean up with the big storm.

Climate Statement for Spring 2025 - Met Éireann - The Irish Meteorological Service

Spring 2025 was the warmest on record for Ireland, with highest sunshine totals recorded at most stations for the period of March, April and May.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

You could also invest in waterproofs. I refuse to let rain keep me indoors. The only weather that i wouldn't go out in is a storm because I am surrounded by trees..

Wind has dropped light now in Greystones.

On the other hand, looks windy atm at Casement. Mean of 69kmh gusting 89kmh at 1600.

That mean = orange warning criteria.

Beautiful skies at sunset after the rain. It's almost like an artist's brushstrokes.

Dryish? Maybe in certain areas. In Leitrim we've had rain all day apart from about 2 hours early evening.

    Stunning at @Robwindstorm.

Absolutely pelting down again here after another wet day.

Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings🫣

Thank you appledrop. A bit of luck to get a 2 minute spell with the phone before the colours fade. Despite all the rain and grey skies nature can still give a bit of magic.

Pouring rain here in Meath, just like earlier and yesterday and the before day that and the day before that, rinse and repeat, rain, rain and more rain. Tomorrow is also looking like another very wet day. It will probably also rain the day after tomorrow even if it's currently not in the forcast.

What a morning. I left home about 6,15 am. It was quite breezy and wet, though not what I'd call windy. On the road it was very wet and twice I had to stop and put large tree branches in off the road as they had at least half the road covered. On the second one a lorry driver helped me move it. I went on to Longford Town and there were loads of large puddles to be negotiated. Left my missus at the train station. On the way home the road was very busy and quite hazardous as traffic was keeping towards the centre of the road to avoid the constant puddles along the edge, including myself in fairness. Anyway home safe and sound and my stock fed. It is dry here at present and calm enough too. Just be careful out there, there are plenty of puddles and debris on some roads.

should this not be an orange in Dublin ? Or possible red ?

My oil burner outside wouldn't kick in this morning and I'm wondering if heavy rain can cause that if water gets into it? It's since come back on and seems to be working normally.

V heavy rain but eased off now. Calm as well.

There literally are no words for the absolute monsoon out there this morning in Dublin, I am no spring chicken, but I have never seen it as bad as it is this morning. Incessant rain the whole way in, roads flooded, roads closed, despite the rain I was actually glad I was cycling, as a lot of motorsits were literally going nowhere fast. Dear god give us a break, we'll soon be approaching 40 days and 40 nights of this.

    River dodder burst its banks.

Gotta be one of the worst January’s on record for rainfall.

The 06-06 rain total for January (so might differ slightly with official) at Dublin Airport is now 110.7mm. That makes it the 6th wettest January since records began in 1942 and will continue to rise a bit more.

    1948 171.4mm

    2016 118.4mm

    1988 118.3mm

    1980 115.2mm

    2021 115.1mm

    2026 110.7mm

1948 the county must have been under a lake….that's some number

What's surprising is that Dublin Airport got hardly any rain in the first week of January. Less than 2mm it looks like. The past week was especially wet. Imagine if this rain had happened during the 2 week holiday at Christmas.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

Just had a heavy hail shower in very blustery winds

finally some sun here in Meath after what seemed like more than a week of non stop rain. Side roads flooded here in Dunshaughlin and fields waterlogged, ditches overflowing, we can't take anymore and by the looks of things the rest of Leinster can't take anymore either. I'm going to enjoy a walk today and get outside, its sunny and it's mild.

A bit of a lull from the rain this afternoon then it looks wet again from tomorrow evening into the weekend and on into next week but it will stay relatively mild over the next 2 weeks.

Watch out for flash showers. Had a few of those this morning in Dublin 15 where it lashed down for 5-10 minutes while you could still see the sun while you got soaked.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 352 ✭✭gilly1910

At this stage Gonzo, we just want a few weeks of dry weather. I've no interest in the mild weather, time enough for that come March/April, I would much prefer cold and dry like a normal winter should be.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,421 ✭✭✭OldRio

Heavy rain and strong winds last night. Cloudy this morning followed by sunshine and showers. We've just had a heavy hail shower.

Yellow - Ice Warning for Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone, Derry

Clearing skies Tuesday night will allow temperatures to fall below freezing on Wednesday morning and, after the recent very wet weather, icy patches are likely to develop on some untreated surfaces.

Could be icy elsewhere come morning.

Cold and very windy with heavy squally showers in Dublin, awful day again despite finally seeing some patches of blue sky for the first time in about 10 days.

Lots of patches of flooding locally, had to change direction a couple of times on my lunch time walk/drenching because of blocked paths
