You may have done this, but a couple of things that have worked for me.

    • Make sure in your Google Payments Profile the name and billing address exactly match your Revolut profile.
    • Ensure the phone number linked to your Google acount is the same one used for your Revolut account to ensure the SMS verification code can be sent/received

Revolute had a few questions for me this morning then asks if I agree to weave my rights to additional assets created by the network

I have no idea what or why they are asking this

Revolute had a few questions for me this morning then asks if I agree to weave my rights to additional assets created by the network

That is an interesting one…. I have not been involved in this area for a few years now, however there was an ECJ ruling some time back in relation to extra commissions and benefits generated by financial institutions when executing transactions on behalf of clients… in a nutshell the ruling was that such gains were the property of the clients unless the institution got permission to retain them….

Which has me wondering what assets were you asked to give up your rights to….

I seem to remember one of the lines of the address gets screwed up by Google wallet and Revolut then rejects it

Town gets turned into City or something dumb like that. Or something gets changed to all caps

I'd triple check it because if one of the fields is even slightly off then it'll be rejected

Yes I've noticed that, city is blank so I put the name of the town in there. But it's a required field so what other option is there ?

Just in the off chance it might help someone, I deleted a virtual card I had in the revolut app and the card now works with Google pay. Thanks to everyone who took the trouble to offer possible solutions.

So just to check, the card you deleted was the one that wasn't working in Google Pay?

Or a different card wasn't working and works now?

No idea how either would be the fix tbh, but it'd be nice to know

The card that wasn't working works now. There was a virtual card listed in the Revolut app which I deleted. I wasn't expecting anything to change to be honest but I'm assuming that was why it started working.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 13,567 ✭✭✭✭the_amazing_raisin

Yeah that's truly bizarre, no clue how that fixed it

My only idea is that something was screwed up in the bankend servers and deleting the card somehow reset it

Has anyone got this working? I can't find the option in the app anywhere

It's in security for me, I haven't turned it on though.

I just did and all it seems to have done is given the app permissions to make calls so maybe if your app already has that permission thats it. Once I did turn it on I cant see it anywhere in app.

I didn't have the popup but I did notice in the app settings that Phone and Nearby Device permission was blocked

I've enabled them and I'll give it a try at some point

I think if you're using fingerprint login then the popup can sometimes override the permissions popup

EDIT: Just tested it by calling voicemail and opening the app. The red banner appeared as expected, seems like a good feature

Good idea I just did the same by making a random call and yes the red banner shows 👌

Nice little data grab for them which I presume they can monetise in some way.

That was actually my second idea, first idea was to ask my wife to call me to test it

She was sitting beside me with her phone in her hand

Her response was "meh, I'm not bothered calling you right now" 😭

As someone who uses Revolut as my joint and sole main accounts, I can't see them getting big numbers getting their salary credited until the customer service perception/experience improves.

The constant bashing by Conor Pope and co of the irish print media doesnt help either. Every bank has fraud but the irish newspapers need to protect their ad income from the legacy banks i guess.

Can't disagree with the main negative points. Revolut is great for my needs, but I still maintain a ptsb account for salary and such. If I have an issue with ptsb I can ring a number and speak to somebody Revolut don't have this. And I don't like the crypto element of the app, if they want to support it make it a standalone app or something.

I'm the same. I get paid into and save for my deposit into aib. I top up my Revolut account on payday with enough for groceries / bills and all other outgoings.

I've considered getting my salary paid into it but I'd rather not risk being locked out of my funds and I don't want one source of failure.

I have a revolut credit card and it's great.

You can hide the crypto if its not for you in the settings.

You can also speak to people by phone depending on your plan Premium upwards with callback service (have never needed to use it).

Personally I don't see the value in giving PTSB €96 a year for little value (I have some non current accounts with them with no fees).

Have swapped salary in 2022 to Revolut since KBC left the market and never had issues with account (excluding an issue between them and aib visa iban which is since fixed indirectly by instant payments).

I also do not believe only using a single banking provider as everyone has seen over time none of them are immune to technical problems so its a good idea to have at least 2 (many free tier backup options out there n26,bunq,ebs,etc with more coming monzo) with funds to cover you in such scenarios.

If I wanted an account where I can go into a branch and moan at people I'd pick EBS current account (free) then get paid there and move to Revolut. But having to use mobile browser in desktop mode is a pain and lacks an app.

At least Pearse Doherty had actually experienced the customer service problems himself. I also don’t think Revolut’s 82% of problems were solved quickly should be a boast as that still leaves nearly 1 in 5 that weren’t

I’m not sure the road Revolut have travelled recently is conducive to getting more paid customers on board, as it seems that’s their aim (obviously). The vast majority of people don’t want any of the services they promote, and even the things that might tempt people (money off stuff) was made incomprehensible to most casual users with the Rev points introduction

But they have the data, so I’d assume they know more than me..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,535 ✭✭✭✭Collie D

Got this too. It’s in relation to crypto. Same as yourself I’ve only a tiny holding that Revolut themselves gave me for free and I held onto out of curiosity. No idea what rights they’re asking us to waive so I just left it undone to come back to later.

I wish there was better stuff included on the paying plans like Prime/Netflix/Disney/etc or some other service I'd use more common than the current collection. Even the lounge passes don't have Dublin as an option

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 97 ✭✭greenbin2

Can you go back to the free plan if it's not good

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 13,567 ✭✭✭✭the_amazing_raisin

I do all my banking through Revolut and it's brilliant. I do agree however that maintaining some banking diversity is prudent

Having a brick and mortar bank account is still relevant for the 1% of the time you need to lodge cash (like anyone on jobseekers benefits, because apparently it's still 1996 in the department of social welfare)

slightly off topic but good for others who don't know or missed the small print

I converted some rev points to Avios and booked transatlantic flights with Aer Lingus but the seat booking is not included and have to pay extra for that

unable to add seats either online and have to contact Reward Flight Customer Service team by phone

haven't got round to it yet
