Constructive first round but second round going badly.

Looks like most of the afternoon starters are having a tough time.

Looks like he Eagled the last to make the cut although a birdie would have got him through...kick on now Seamus

Finished with a 64...Great final round

He picked up a cheque for just shy of USD 50K. And he's in the field for this week's American Express, thanks to the fact that it's a field of 156 - only 120 started in the Sony Open.

This week's tournament is being played across three courses in CA so the cut will probably be after the third round i.e. at close of play on Saturday.

Seamus having a great day on the tough course, -5 on 18..

And yet only T45th on the leaderboard...the scores on the pga are ridiculous. 3 leaders on -10

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,209 ✭✭✭OEP

He's T6 on the course he played which, looking at the scores, is the hardest.

Just beat me to it - yes he played the stadium course and Jason day -9, Beau Hossler -7 & 4@ -6 so I agree a -5 is pretty solid, it'd probably be top 20 if all were on that course so a really solid start.

They must be very handy courses by their standards they are playing this week judging by the scores.

-4 today on the La Quinta Country Club course to lie -9 overall. Decent round with 1 bogey but about average for that course today.

Birdied all the par 5’s and one par 3. He’ll need some more birds tomorrow

Just judging on scores that course seems to have played a lot easier today, bad luck getting out there on the difficult day.

-9 after 2 rounds and still 8 off the lead..scores are becoming ridiculous on the pga tour...give me tournament where-3 or -4 wins it after 4 rounds everytime...

-13 after day 3 but T37 and only made the cut by 3 shots. Good solid play though.

this is a pro-am playing fourballs so they have to set it up easy. Starting the season with two made cuts isn’t bad so hopefully he has a good day and gets a few points

He’s on the timesheet for next week

+1 Everyone in the FedEx Fall 111-125 category is in.

Brandt Snedeker (126) is on a sponsor's invite while Frankie Scapan (127) is the first alternate.

Henrik Norlander (133) and Jeremy Paul (135) took two of the four slots in Monday's 18 hole qualifier. Which also featured David Carey (IRL), he missed forcing a playoff by two strokes.

Wow! What a round! -7 to lie 4th. Birdies on last 3 holes!

What a round today. 3 birdies in a row to finish, made 2 at all 4 par 3s and best score of anyone (-7) on the South Course.

Brilliant stuff, there's been green shoots for the past few months.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,053 ✭✭✭✭coylemj

Of the top 22 on the leaderboard, only Seamus (T5 on -7) and McGreevey (T8 on -6) played the south course. Let’s hope Seamus chews up the north course tomorrow.

Great start anyway. Started on 10.

Par on first, birdied next 2. Lying -9 and 1 off the lead!

I think his relative dip in form the last couple of years is very much linked to injury. He was flying it before the injuries came along. Hopefully a fit and healthy Seamus can get back to where he was, which at one stage was a potential Ryder Cup player. It would be great if he could find a way to make it into the team for Adare.
