Shortlisting results were out 2.5weeks after application deadline. Then my interview was a month later and results from the interview were 3 weeks later.

Is anyone considering applying for the newly launched HEO process. I'm considering going in at HEO level and hoping to be promoted to AP? But the pay cut would be a serious pill to swallow

whats the difference in process? is it just new capabilities

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 75 ✭✭Lottie125

I will probably apply but the pay cut is also an issue for me. Application form doesn’t look too different to the AP one so will just be adjusting it so may as well apply.

I was also going to apply for the HEO competition. Would it go against you for the AP competition if they see you also applied for HEO? I’m coming from private sector so not sure what is and isn’t ok

I think we'll hear about the AP interview before the deadline for the HEO?? But I think I'll apply and make a decision down the line if I am willing to take the pay cut

yes they send the emails at the same time. I’m guessing there were loads of applications as I saw it advertised in a lot of places this time round and last time we heard back 2.5 weeks after the deadline.

For those that were successful, did you get an interview date? Mine just says interviews will commence late Feb and dates will be confirmed in due course.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22 drumcart

My email says the same. I wonder how many made the interview stage & how much notice will we get.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20 dojo12

I got the same notice. End of Feb

Same e-mail, end-Feb. I believe we should get an e-mail soon, maybe this week itself, with the dates as we are already in the second week Feb. On a side note, anyone out here have tips how to well prepare for this one, any insights, guidance and experience will be very helpful for everyone out here :)

Hi - which questions on complex tax issue did they ask you?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16 Zoey12

Hi, what questions were asked on a high level and any inputs for all of us here to prepare well pls

Hi Folks, I was just wondering if anyone knows whether the AP Tax Specialist Panel, formed after the 2025 AP recruitment campaign, has been exhausted. It is possible that there are still successful candidates awaiting offers for certain regions or departments and if so does anyone know of any region or department for which Revenue currently has no vacancies, or indeed, has unfilled positions.

Has anyone heard anything further about interview dates? Do they normally give 2 weeks notice for interviews?

You should get a good 10 days or two weeks notice, minimum. Sometimes more. But my advice would be to be ready to be called at any time. When the notice of interview comes the time goes very fast. If you are one of the first called, you might hear early one week that you are in the following week and it doesn't give you much time.

Last years panel moved very quickly and I think the whole panel was exhausted (but open to correction on this).

All very general questions and hypothetical. What if this happened and what would you do here. But also, have you ever dealt with section XYZ of TCA. Be prepared to be asked about anything you have on your form, but also for wildcard questions about things not on your form - which will probably be over half the interview. You are going for a tax specialist position and so questions will be geared more towards tax technical matters, rather than the usual delivery of results management etc. But those areas will get covered also but in lesser detail. The key point is to try not to get flustered. Interviewers will put you under pressure and have you second guessing yourself, but that's just the interview game. Give an answer and back yourself. If you haven't dealt with something just say that but be pragmatic about what you would do if you did come across it. You may get asked to explain how you dealt with a complex tax matter. Why was it complex. What you learned from how you did things is also a very popular question and would you do anything differently. Definitely know your form. You shouldn't need to read from it during the interview, if they ask you "you said here that you did this, tell us more about that". You should be able to respond straight away. When preparing at home, speak your answers out loud. It really helps as you think in your head you have a good answer, but its not until you actually speak it out you hear yourself stutter, or fail to clearly express what was so clear in you mind. Try to be somewhat concise in your answers. If they need more they will ask.

Will the interviews really be end of February? I'm actually going to be away the first week in March so I'm worried I'll miss the interview now we still don't have dates

Thanks so much for this, really appreciate this. Thanks
