It's ok everyone! We're just over reacting and there's nothing to worry about. Big brains has entered the chat.

    You said:

I'll say no more on Greenland. It's a non story now. A chicken licken.

Because you felt the focus should be on Venezuela. The illegal action in Venezuela is important - in addition to many other illegal US actions - but for Europe and the EU, Greenland is a different kettle of fish.

Think the markets spooked him a bit. Its the only thing he responds to. If they rebound together he'll probably go back to the threats.

Give me the entire context please. I did a lengthy post on my 5 reasons. The military invasion threat was a non issue. You weren't even prepared to offer your own opinion.

Yes he got away with Venezuela so doubled down on Greenland. I was quite clear.

Venezuela is almost forgotten now. Similarly Greenland will hardly be on the headlines in 2 weeks.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

So you really, really don't know how pharma works. And you think swathes of pharma workers are ready to up and move to the US? You do realise that some pharma workers have (shhhhh) brown skin? And even those that don't are not likely to trust visas at the moment.

    Yeah, it doesn't take a genius etc…….

It's interesting that his disapproval rating seems to be highest of all with the under-30's. Much was made after the election of how younger voters, particularly males, had plumped for him. Ditto with Hispanics. Perhaps demographics may yet spell doom for the GOP, as was being generally predicted until a few years ago.

I personally don’t think he has dementia . He is just an ignorant , uneducated , thick narcissist who hasn’t a clue how a normal human being acts . He is a spoiled idiotic man who has never learned manners or normal behaviour

I think pharma key personnel, regardless of skin colour, will be given sufficient guarantees/protections from their employers, who will after all be conforming to Trump's demands.

he absolutely doesn’t have demntia. He just has a ridiculously heavy heavy dose of narcissism

Highly skilled employees have options. Many of them will not want to move to the land of child beauty pageants, surprise disappearings and school shootings.

The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.

It was really dispiriting that young people were attracted to that shìte.

Hopefully the Trump-lickers have run out of road and we can enjoy their discomfiture as the chicken return to roost in the hens' nest of their brains.

I hope that the Independent voters in America get their day in the sun now and clean out the Augean stables.

I'd be ashamed to talk such nonsenses and distorting the history lets say it mildly
in front of the whole world like this..

im still thinking of this just absolutely shocking ..

They'll have plenty of other suitors. Why would they go somewhere that has ICE arresting and detaining people, including many who are on valid visas? Look at what happened to the high skilled Korean workers on visas building out a Hyundai battery plant.

'Kihwan Kim, president of the Federation of Korean Associations for the Southeast US, said some of the workers snared in the raid are hesitant to return to the US. “They don’t have to come to the United States to work after that kind of humiliation,” Kim said. “They can go to other countries.” '

I think someone like Rubio pulled Frumps horns in on taking Greenland by force. His language today was more measured, well by his low standards anyway. Saying he'd remember if they didn't give it to him, I thought was telling.

    I'm probably being niave.

Journalist says what everyone's thinking about Trump's latest moves

" The Trump administration has made available less than 1% of the files".

" You see his sensitivity at the Dearborn auto plant, when a worker yelled “Pedophile protector! Pedophile protector!” and he turned around and gave him the finger and mouthed the words “F— you,” but said the curse".

Trust people will keep up these shoutouts as it is obvious it cuts to the bone.

Colleagues in the US tell me there was something on the news over there last night where they showed young children in school in Greenland in tears afraid the soldiers were coming to invade their country. It was likened to how the Native Americans were massacred that Americans claim to feel so bad about now. Not a good look for them.

Nobody trusts the news in the US anymore…its all completely biased one way or the other.

    Master of the Universe

Its crazy, I regularly have a look at CNN and then FoxNews, they're living in two different realities.

I doubt that Trump or his cronys care about the tears of Greenland's children or any children for that matter.

Adults in Greenland are worried about invasion so not exactly shocking that concern filters down to the children.

Listened to Trumps rambling speech where he was all over the shop, was today’s as bad? Did Europe journalists get a chance to ask him real questions unlike their pathetic American journalists

or any children for that matter

I would not be so sure given the lengths they have taken to bury the Epstein files

His main supporters now are white males aged over 45 with home schooling or less, and even for all three his approval rating is less than 50%. I cannot see that getting any better for him when the realizations hits that age group that his big ugly bill is going to hammer them in particular on medical insurance cover.

The Hispanics seemed to believe his immigration policies were not going to affect them, but the ICE leopards turning up to eat their faces wasn`t long in changing that. The one I found particularly funny was the eejit who got himself a high profile in Florida campaigning for Hispanic votes for Trump who shortly after the election results was picked up and deported for being an illegal immigrant. A right genius if ever there was one.

I think what we've learned from the last 24 hrs is obvious. America is not our friend anymore, at least under trump. Mark Carney's Canada seek a new and desirable world order which is definitely appealing to the UK and EU. What a contrast in speeches.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,882 ✭✭✭threeball

European finance ministers should get together and agree on a common level of capital gains tax on shares. Keep it sufficiently low and attractive to pull money from individual investors and pension funds away from the US and back to European stocks.

Fast track the new legislation around preferrential share purchases for investors and employees and maybe persuade some companies to either locate here entirely or have a subsidiary listed here.

That would badly hurt the US whilst only being a positive for us. Then just exit treasuries as they mature.

50's kids had the cold war. 60's had drugs, the seventies had cable TV, 80's & 90's had absent parents… and that's all she wrote. Everything is broken beyond repair, so it's back to the 50's

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 550 ✭✭✭midlander12

I'm not sure how many Independents there really are at this stage, after decades of hyper-partisanship.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 550 ✭✭✭midlander12

The level of dimness is quite troubling. I heard on the radio today about a Somali-American woman who's so nervous she brings her US passport to the toilet with her in case ICE raid her house while she's answering the call of nature. And guess who she voted for……

It's not like he didn't promise to do what he's doing.

I don't speak German, but I love the way the language always seems to have one word that perfectly encapsulates what we'd need several English words to express. Backpfeifengesicht would be one (perfect for Trump), meaning "a face that's begging to be punched". I recently learned "Verschlimmbesserung" which is something many politicians quickly become expert in - attempting to make things better but actually making them worse. I'm not sure if Obamacare was the improvement it was touted to be at the time, and I'm certainly not well-up on the details, but much commentary says there were many unintended effects, none of them good.
