Confirmed. Just heard from Garda Hr that November is full, but will send out offers if anyone pulls out, vetting permitted.

Found this in Irish Independent Dec 2024; "Row as new Garda recruits are fast tracked for training as applicants from previous rounds still wait to join"

    https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/row-as-new-garda-recruits-are-fast-tracked-for-training-as-applicants-from-previous-rounds-still-wait-to-join/a1698665461.html

I wonder how long this has been going on. I also wonder what the true proportion of candidates from each campaign make it through selection only to get ensnared in the vetting trap.

    Any offers for February?

Vetting in 15 months and got no offers. I applied in January 2024. Other people sending vetting in and within few weeks getting offers. Doesn't make sense.

I applied in 2022, vetting was ongoing since May 23, only got the call last week to say that commissioner has deemed me suitable to begin training

I'll be 50 the time I get in at this stage 😅

You know something if it happens it happens at this stage.

Nothing worse waiting and people (relatives) especially after getting all there info for the vetting. Asking when are you starting?

Very disheartening better if they just told us that we are not acceptable etc.

From the 2024 Recruitment campaign. Got an offical invite (by email) to start training in February 2026 last week. I kindly asked for the deferal to the following intake as I've family commitments during that time.

I hope those of you waiting on their vetting hear soon. The waiting can be tough at times.

Yeah I'm in the exact same position 20 years service in the defence forces vetting ok for that but still pending for the gardai joke of a recruitment drive

For information purposes its pointless ringing the Appointments Office asking for an update.

For applications still under consideration ,they will confirm that they have no other information regarding vetting only to say still not complete .

As far as vetting is concerned

What can be said though is a station interview is one of the final stages of vetting. A report is then sent back to GNVB and a decision should follow within a couple of weeks.

Yes mate, you're not alone; there's still a good few of us hanging in there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 103 ✭✭merlinengine

Agreed. It is pointless ringing garda HR for an update. We all get the same copy and paste "suitability checks are still ongoing" or "vetting checks are rigorous and extensive and can take some time to complete". It also doesn't help that the vetting team is a black box and Garda HR has no visibility as to what's going on there. As for the station interview, many of us are told after we leave the interview that we should hear in the coming weeks, but then just get tumbleweeds for months afterwards. Maybe they just tell us that to get us out of the place without us chewing their ear off about the wait! 😆
