Trump is afraid Russia will take Greenland and attack him

He then knocks on Putins door and asks does he want to come out to play .

To be fair, Trump has been cosying up to Putin since he took office last year (with occasional token actions to make it appear that he is not in bed with Russia).
He has hosted war criminal Putin on US soil (contrast that to the reception that he gave Zelensky) - sure the US has even been supplying Russia with Ukraine's operational info to the point that Ukraine now don't give their info to the US.

What would an invasion of Greenland actually look like though. I mean they already have bases there. If they ramp up numbers, is that an invasion? What are they going to do - march over the ice?

    America 'Takes' Greenland

Then America decides its in their national interest to have a land connection to their territories in the north, Alaska and Greenland

So Trump will 'take' parts of Canada which would effectively encircle Canada

It looks insane, but Trump has already declared that they want Canada to be America's '51st state' and actively threatening Canada.

The man is an absolute psychopath (Miller)

"Trump has been cosying up to Putin since he took office last year"

It's been happening for over ten years. I posted multiple instances above.

    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

I see Trump is trying to coerce Macron to join his new “peace” outfit by threatening 200% tarrifs on Champagne

At least we know now that Trump is just using the same stupid mallet to crack every nut - tell him to fck off Macron and that he can stuff his peace board - if we don’t cooperate with Trump on this peace of sh1t, then it doesn’t happen - it’s that simple

Trump has shown he doesn’t honour his commitments - the EU tarrifs deal is dead in the water now given trumps latest threats - you can’t keep coming back asking for more once a deal is struck - it generates distrust - Trump has broken the golden rule of negotiation -

On the 4th, Trump said something would happen with Greenland around twenty days time..

Posted these to his socials today.. doctored map photo

The USA could take Greenland by lunchtime if they really wanted. They'd just land a few planes and soldiers in Nuuk and plant a flag. It would be back channeled first and there would be no open combat with local forces. US planes land in Nuuk all the time. Nuuk only has a population of 20,000 people. People forget that Greenland is mainly a massive ice sheet. There are no roads between the other small settlements. All travel is plane, boat, helicopter, snowmobile or dogsled. The distance from the US base at Thule to the capital Nuuk is nearly 1000 miles. In my opinion the chance of a military invasion has passed. Trump still wants it but it remains to be seen what deal is struck. Its a threatened trade war now. Due to start on Feb 1. This could run for months (the 2nd tariff is in June). It could all be over next week too. We are dealing with unstable narcissists here.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

Aside from the sycophancy of Rutte, which is sickening, it's interesting to note that Trumps last posts on 'Truth Social' where at 2am Eastern...

Not good for that fat sack of shite to be up all hours... He needs his sleep. Is he posting this stuff from bed?

Let's see how Rutte uses his media engagements to praise what Trump is doing in Ukraine(?!?!) and Gaza(?!?!?!??!).

Trump also has the text massively zoomed so he can actually read it. Eyes like pissholes in the snow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,163 ✭✭✭innuendo141

His self confidence seems to have taken further serious hit if he's now resorted to having to share screenshots of private text conversations in the middle of the night for "clout" or for self worth.

Rutte has become a figure of fun, a sad decline from being a person of political importance. Same applies to Starmer Macron and Merz. So much for the optimism that so many posters had that Europe was going to stand up to Trump.

If Putin took Greenland, he would have to go through Canada to attack America. Putin can already directly attack America into Alaska if he wanted to do that, which he doesn't

Poor women my arse. They have agency just like the rest of us and believe it or not, they are not stupid.

They are doing it for power, control, and wealth. History will judge them harshly for their willing enthusiasm for this project.

Rutte is the biggest arse licker of all. The cringiest going. And what does he mean a way forward on Greenland, the way forward is F off simple as that, why is he encouraging him.

I think Starmer has been ok on this latest episode, and Macron has done well and showed backbone. Merz has not said or done enough.

However, indications are that Europe will indeed stand up to Trump. They now (belatedly) know that for every inch he is given, he takes a mile, and Europe/ the EU cannot allow themselves to be strongarmed into compromising our own sovereignty. This far and no further…

Who is the leader of Europe now that we have surrounded ourselves with Chamberlains?

There's, fortunately for Norway but not for Denmark, no doubt about that.

    Same as Venezuela
They would bomb the Danish airbases and cut off power in the capital, kill a bunch of people needlessly, then They would send in a force of special ops to take over the Greenland parliamentary buildings (Inatsisartut) and exile the sitting head of state (the speaker) if he refuses to declare loyalty to the new owners and instal some vassal as the governer of the new state of Trumpland.

If the Danish troops try to resist, they will be killed
If Denmark try to re-capture Trumpland, they will have to go through the US Navy to get to them

This is what their plan would be.

Problem is Canada have said they will defend Greenland.

    https://www.news18.com/world/we-stand-fully-behind-canadian-pm-mark-carney-backs-greenland-amid-trumps-threats-9837986.html

Canada have an actual military and America like to do things with complete air superiority, so would America take out Canadian air defences?

Canada have already been in discussion with China on the principle of Greenland and have gotten assurances from Xi Jinping that they are closely aligned and agree that the US should make any aggressive movements towards Greenland

It is utterly bonkers that it has gotten to this stage. Trump is incredibly dangerous and we cannot pander to him.

If he gets Greenland, he won't be happy until he also has Canada. That would be a full scale civil war within NATO.
China and Russia would both swoop in to pick up the pieces and establish a new post American world order (dominated by China with Russia re-asserting control over eastern Europe

(All of the above would be completely moot if any of the multiple nuclear armed nations decided to pull the trigger at any point)

Trump will put an extra few 100 troops in his base on Greenland, put up the US flag and say it's his, make a big announcement lining out why he is saving the world and if anyone tries to stand up to his "War Fighters" they will be treated as invaders.

Then it is up to NATO/EU to make the first aggressive step, up to them to fire the first shot against a fellow NATO country, not going to happen. Its a lot easier to stop someone coming in than it is to remove someone already there, game is over. They have a nice warm base, huge amounts of supplies built up and the "Allies" are out on the ice in tents and huts.

The USA won't own Greenland but NATO/Denmark wont try to remove them, and Trump will not budge. Back home that's a win in most eyes as no shots were fired.

Keir Starmer, ironically. Macron is on the way out.

I disagree with the Chamberlain comment. Chamberlain thought appeasing Hitler would prevent war. He was wrong. I don't think there will be an actual World War III between the European NATO countries and the US over Greenland. I think a trade war, not unlike the Anglo-Irish trade war of the 1930s is much likely. Ironically, that war ended with us getting our three treaty ports back from the Brits which enabled us to be neutral.

A trade war would cause serious suffering to real people on both sides of the Atlantic. If this can be avoided by pandering to the orange tapeworm with some cheap words, it makes sense to do so. If not, our leaders can say they exhausted every available option before we go down the path of no return.

The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.
