strange David Clifford supposingly starting today in mid January for McGrath cup final. We can't wrap him in bubble wrap, but I don't see the point in it TBH . It's like putting your finest race horse into the Donkey Darby.

The new season only lasts 6 months from start of league to end of champioship. bease Fossa nad east Kerry's championship ended fairy early he is back training a months. training is boring if you get no games. The likes of the dingle and Gaeltach players are the ones needing a rest over the next month to six week. I be interested ib David taking a break afer the league or missing a league game or two later ib the competition especially one of the long spin have we Armagh away this year. 45-50 minutes will do him no harm training has the same injury risk

An incredible match capping off a wonderful journey for Dingle. Im glad they took that chance today because most likely they wont get it again in the near future. An absolutely epic few matches and worthy winners

    Twas some game.

Dingle only seem to know how to win the hardest of ways.

Tom o sullivan was superb amongst others as well.

Thought they were done with 6 mins to go, the legs seemed gone on alot of the lads.

    Well done👏👏

Tom O' Sullivan was outstanding today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,645 ✭✭✭awaywithyou

he was outstanding.. he was outstanding against Boden too… Jaxck o'connor should take note.. if he plays Tom.. put him in the half back line and allow him to power forward… forget about using him as a man marker.. he has alot more to offer the team than trying to stop an opposition star forward.. give that job to dylan casey

Sullivan and Stack look like the two beat ballers in the country ex-Clifford, they do everything

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 818 ✭✭✭Timistry

Hope now this translates into a good pipeline of players coming into the future (clean sweep across all levels). The fact that Paudie did'nt get a look in under he was 26 (ish) is not a good form book to go by though

All credit to a much weakened Roscommon team on their performance yesterday in Killarney. They deserved to win the game on the balance of play, but missed a crucial chance with a minute to go.

Kerry evidently have some fitness issues, starting both halves strong but fading after the 15 minute mark and letting a 6 point lead in the first half and a 7 point lead in the second half be eroded. Had some accountability issues in defence as well, with Shane Murphy being left high and dry on kickouts at times, with nobody making the hard runs to get a short kick out off. We also got trapped in on several occasions on transitions. Roscommon pressed high and Kerry backs were left isolated in corners and by the sideline, gave panicked passes and had the ball turned over. It's the first round of the League so no the rustiness is to be expected.

On the plus side, David was fantastic. His point from the free on the sideline was brilliant and the 2 pointer to equalise late was top class. And what a League Debut for Tomás Kennedy as well. He got his hands on a lot of ball, caught a brilliant mark, got a clever goal and to have such a calm head at the finish to not only complete the catch but to immediately handpass it over the bar before the hooter was serious coolness under pressure.

Lucky to get the 2 League points, and plenty to work on for the remainder of the league. I fear for the result next Sunday but hope we can get a few bits ironed out before we take on Galway in Tralee in round 3 before heading to Croke Park to face the Dubs in Round 4. 1 win out of those 3 games will be vital to keep off the threat of relegation.

Agree with all of the above, cant see this new hooter system being left in place, Imagine a knockout championship game being decided like yesterday

Well it here for this and next year. I think its not reviewed again for 2 years. The ref made the right decision allowing the score so there is no issue. I preferred the other option of letting the play end but what is there is there

Real heart shown yesterday. Missing alot of what would be first team starters and a couple injuries in first half.. Looked like we might get a hammering after half time but we knuckled down and could have stolen a draw in the end, like against Tyrone and Derry last year. Jack would have been happy enough on the bus home. Massive game by Sean o Shea.

Seanie just like he was in his minor days is turning into a real leader on this team… David and Paudie obviously get alot of the plaudits for their scores and playmaking etc… but as we saw again Meath last June Kerry without Seanie is not the same proposition for the opposition.. he really takes the game to whoever Kerry are playing

Much the same as against Dublin this ti.e last year big lead at half time still substantial 10 minutes after HT. Unable to win any possession from our own kickouts.

Team played well.and referee was fair enought. Problem was Shane wemt for the long option all the time. Had two pop it 45 meters out to a lone player in a fairly open atea out there but did not opt for them. There was also an option on RHS at MF at one stage. He is not fast enought to get the ball onto the T and is not looking up running out with the ball. As well I am not sure how many times he ran around the back of the goal to collect the kicking T

Fairly horrendous conditions in Tralee yesterday. Obviously we can't read too much into it. Some good stuff, some bad stuff, overall fine I think.

Edit, i was wrong about the solo and go rule.

I think the doom and gloom in the Dublin thread is massively overstated. Neither team has been firing yet this year. Dublin bedding in some new players. Kerry doing the same and still missing a good chunk although it's nice to see Paudie and Tom back.

Goalkeeper still the weak link and there to be got at. Shane Ryan badly needed back.

Overall, I think this match could be fairly even but I expect to win, as always, and there's never a bad time to beat the Dubs.

Another great league in my opinion with teams really going at it at the early stages, great matches very evenly matched teams, you could see how delighted galway were last week to come down to Tralee and get a point out of it, Galway fans traveled in big numbers and met a few of them Saturday night in Tralee and had good banter with them what a great sport we have that we can all mingle and have the crack, we need to beat Dublin tonight and beat them well and give them no doubt who the Top dog is now,

We need to make the league final. What ever way we beat Dublin will do.I would not worry about the margin. Short 6-7 championship players

Dublin won't be going anywhere this year if they cant find a few forwards to kick 2 pointers.

The Gavin era for all its success has led to a generation of Dublin forwards who couldn't or wouldnt shoot unless withing the D...Farrell was a continuation of that.

They have a lot of catch up to do.

Mighty game from Mark o shea.

Good to see P Clifford back...he was v rusty.

    Away wins are always great

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,674 ✭✭✭dobman88

Shadow boxing is all that was. Neither team too bothered about things although I expected more from Dublin if they're t9 avoid a relegation battle.

Plenty to work on for Kerry which is no harm at this time of the year

Thought Paudie was fine considering his layoff. And the standard outside of the boot point from Tom never fails to make me smile.

Thought Jason Foley was immense again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,601 ✭✭✭munster87

Ah surely Dublin are bothered about it. No team goes out not wanting to avoid relegation.

Losing at home isn’t ideal and they are under pressure now.

I’d be annoyed if I was a dub and in early days of new management they weren’t too bothered about it.

Great to see Tom back in green and gold as well as P Clifford, what a player!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,677 ✭✭✭kerryjack

don't think Dublin are in a position to be Shadow boxing there was definitely more in Kerry with all the players to come back in we are looking good. All our big players are playing well seane, David, Foley Mark O se Joe with the return of the geaneys and the rocket man to the squad shortly the competition efor places will be fearce,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 22,097 ✭✭✭✭Bass Reeves

Hard to believe we only had about 7-8 starting of or strongest 15. Clifford and Shane Ryan critical players that we need the availability of and maybe Jason Foley. We have fairly decent cover elsewhere.Ryan, O'Bealoigh, White, Dirmuid O Connor Paul Geany have not featured year this year who would all start you would think

    Perferred championship team

    Ryan, Casey, Foley, T O'Sullivan, O'Bealoigh, Breen, White, D O' Connor, J O'Connor, P Clifford. S O'Shea, G O'Sullivan, D Clifford P Geany D Geany

Not a bad team although I probably start T Kennedy over Paul Geaney, we will have to give these young lads there chance they are the future, and are just too talented to leave sitting on the bench Paul is brilliant and have given a lot to club and county same as Murphy great ould warrier but we need to be evolving going forward.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 22,097 ✭✭✭✭Bass Reeves

I would be of the same opinion and would like to see Kennedy playing before he starts thinking about Australia. Paul Geany is probably going to be named as Captain.

Kerry's AL to lose IMHO. They demolished Mayo (granted they missed alot of easy points) but its only March and are playing at another level compared to most teams. Seanie's 2 pointer off the ground was unreal.

if one or two injuries kick in kerry are in serious trouble , especially the cliffords , there is a nice team there but without them but they need them to win it out

They're obviously favorites but Kerry have a habit of underperforming and throwing away games.

Also an injury to Clifford could be fatal.
