I have seen no Democrat wanting the Epstein files to not be released. The same can't be said for Republicans.

Plus it is great to see clips of regular people protesting and obstructing ICE, blowing car horns and alerting locals to presence of ICE thugs. There is hope for America yet.

Castro avoided having things named after him as he feared them being torn down after his death, ala Saddam Hussein. His fella narcissist has no such worries. Maybe he should.

The specific nature of the aircraft in question has been a matter of speculation, but the Air Force certainly does have aircraft in civilian colors. The laws are a little more complicated than the article implies, Q-Ships are an obvious historical precedent of an armed ship deliberately masquerading as a civilian vessel (Let alone STUFT vessels like Atlantic Conveyor). That doesn't mean they are entirely unmarked, for example, from this angle the Air Force reg number marks this as military (This is an armed aircraft type, by the way and is my guess for the type used in the strike as it was a SpecOps strike and this is a SpecOps-tasked aircraft) and, of course, as the articles say, it was openly transmitting its military ID. The fact that the Internet sleuths haven't associated the squawk with an specific aircraft, that I've noticed, does surprise me a bit.

The two of them rushed to the car and started sucking on those fags. What a horrible situation to be in, what betrayal. All your assumptions about the world are being destroyed. Meanwhile many of the editorials in US newspapers take a light-hearted view of Trump’s negotiating moves against a close ally like it’s par for the course. Disgusting.

One of the advantages to our federal structure, there are hard limits on the authorities even of the federal government, no matter how authoritarian any part of it (or even all of it) may want to be.

It’s like joking to someone I have a beef with that I’m going to glass them in the face. Just harmless banter, you understand, does nobody have a sense of humour any more?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,208 ✭✭✭Ardillaun

And here was me thinking those right-wingers valued facts over identity politics. Because he’s a ‘left-wing hack’ any facts he presents don’t matter, apparently.

I think Machado was wrong to give Trump the medal. It was a tragic mistake by a woman desperate to help her country, and far worse for him to accept it, but she should not have done that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,356 ✭✭✭✭Leroy42

No real issue with her giving the medal, its meaningless really, but she appears to have got nothing in return.

She should have waited until elections were completed or she was installed.

She appears to have fallen into the usual trap of seeing that Trump did something she agreed with and assuming they were aligned and Trump will continue to agree with her.

All evidence suggests that Trump is transactional. He will do what is needed as long as it benefits him in some way.

Once your usefulness goes away all bets are off.

Just another corrupt act in a long, long list of corrupt acts

Good enough for her, honestly. The man is just a walking void. Feeding him trinkets means nothing.

He's lost it. A tariff of 10%, rising to 25%, on a number of European countries

Apparently Europe has to pay back for something? Pure extortion and bullying. And that's before you get to trying to tariff individual EU countries.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,088 ✭✭✭Paulzx

But but but did the UK not do a special bigly trade deal with the USA which showed how much better off they were outside the horrible EU? Surely he's not reneging on it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,325 ✭✭✭testtech05

So he's going to charge his own proper extra until European countries give him what he wants...... Very smart

The only good thing about this announcement is seeing Starmer getting his brown nose rubbed in it again. I would not be totally surprised if he withdrew their sole army officer from Greenland and issued an official apology to Trump, though I suspect that would be going too far even for him and the likes of Lammy.

Smart? No he is pea brained and senile. Blackmail is the last reach of a desperado. It's like playing chess with a seagull. He will knock over the chess pieces, $hit on the board and claims he has won the game. But he has really lost out big time for ordinary Americans and the Republican party.

In a sick sort of way the European countries targeted only have themselves to blame. Europe has been too tepid with him, appeasing him, licking his arse and generally just being weak. I know the war in Ukraine is probably the biggest reason behind the strategy to keep America on side but it just goes to show continually bending the knee to a bully gets you nowhere in the long run, in fact it leaves you worse off. Canada stood up to him more than us.

Now he’s completely in the wrong and unhinged as usual. I’m not excusing that minger for a second. I’m just saying. Will Europe finally grow a set of balls and play him at his own game. I hope so but fear not.

A special mention to that absolute pathetic cringe master Mark Rutte who debased himself more than any trump lackey, his own country is on the list for all his kneeling. He’s probably already text trump a novel praising him he’s that much of a saddo.

Trump ramping things up in his attempts to "buy" Greenland, starting in two weeks' time:

"US President Donald Trump has escalated his quest to acquire Greenland, threatening multiple European nations with tariffs of up to 25% until his purchase of the Danish territory is achieved.

From 1 February, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Finland would be subject to a 10% tariff on all goods sent to the United States, Mr Trump said in a post on his Truth Social network.

"On 1 June 2026, the Tariff will be increased to 25%. This Tariff will be due and payable until such time as a Deal is reached for the Complete and Total purchase of Greenland.

"These Countries, who are playing this very dangerous game, have put a level of risk in play that is not tenable or sustainable."

Surely western and NATO countries can give up the notion Trump is an "ally" this point. He has moved more into hostile belligerent territory.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 576 ✭✭✭freddie1970

A few people I knew agreed with Trump not a word out of them now has completely shown up the movement as a bunch of complete idiots .. used to listen to Rogan a few years back but wow this has exposed him as well a complete idiot .. how can the likes of Daryl Davis ever go back on with the crap that Musk is expousing ..Do he not realise what Musk stands for everyone can see it…

She was looking to be ushered into power by Trump and would happily have been his puppet. Frankly she comes off pretty terrible as far as I'm concerned and no better than the other witches hanging around Trump at the moment. A Trump bootlick and an apologist for Israel's slaughter in Palestine tells me that Venezuela might be better off with someone else at the helm because I don't think she'd be the answer to that country's myriad of problems.

Also remember, she dedicated the award to Trump as soon as she got it and when she gave it to him said that "he deserves it".

I don't see any kind of heroine here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,807 ✭✭✭SleetAndSnow

I was under the impression that he can’t tariff individual EU countries? A tariff on Denmark for example of 10% would be a tariff of 10% on the entire EU would it not?

Seriously time for the EU to take a stand and fight back
