The pile on against Burke isn't surprising one bit and it seems it runs through the 'institutions of the state' also.

    Compare and contrast:

Humanist teacher who tussled with caretaker over Virgin Mary statue loses discrimination case

Roe has never seen a day in a cell - yet Burke has clocked up north of 520 days at this stage.

    A disgrace.

Eggnog has not spent time in prison for his beliefs, hes spent time there for breaking trespassing on school grounds.

Do you not understand why burke was jailed? Hint: it wasn't because of the original issue

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,315 ✭✭✭InAtFullBack

If Burke had wrestled a statue of Jesus from Wilson's School out of the hands of a caretaker there and verbally abused him… would he'd have served north of 500 days in the Joy for it?

    Give your head a wobble.

It's plain as the nose on your face to see the discrimination going on here, and I'm no fan whatsoever of Burke and his wider family's antics whatsoever.

But, I'll call out bias and a perversion of justice all day long wherever I see it.

If he was in contempt of court over it (myabe stalking the caretaker) then yes, he would have.

Give your own head a wobble...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,866 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

No. But if he had done that, and then got into an argument with the principal that resulted in him being let go and then he just started showing up at school anyway to the point that a court order was out in place for him to stay away and he still went then he would be in prison.

Wasn't just showing up,but wondering the corridors apparently. Nothing the school could do but call the Guards and have him charged with trespassing.

He knows the outcome of his actions and weirdly seems pleased about it.

You would kind of feel sorry for all the kids having no life what’s so ever . Home schooling by mammy probably no normal friends and no socialising . What ever Mammy says goes . It’s brain washing and it’s mad to see that they all tow the line . Not one has jumped ship and went off the rails . In all honesty maybe the man actually does enjoy being in the Joy more than being at home with her . It’s probably his only chance to get away for her constant lectures at home

Security guard: "There's a lady trying to get in here".

Enoch: "I'm trying to get in here, yes".

    🤣🤣.

Like when you move out of home for the first time.

The Joy might not be all that different from home.

He didn't serve any time in jail for what he did in the school that led to his dismissal.

I would be **** OUTRAGED if someone's ideological objection to calling a person by a new name led to them being imprisoned.

He's been banged up repeatedly because he keeps acting like a total mentaller and going to a place he doesn't work every fecking day and making life miserable for the staff and children there. He keep breaking a court order to not go there. It's that simple

I despise violence but maybe if he got a good hiding in jail in might scare him off getting sent back there.

Congratulations on proving the point yet again that people these days simply do not even bother researching stuff. They just find **** they don't like on the Internet and then pile into it with misguided and false claims.

Burke is not in prison for his beliefs. He's in prison because he continually insists on trespassing on the school property. If I continually trespassed on private property I'd expect to be locked up too. It's really not that difficult to understand.

I don't know if it has been mentioned, but I felt really sorry for the security guy. He can't be being paid much, yet he has to stand there in the cold, in the glare of publicity, and is probably aware that if he puts a finger wrong, he will be sued by the Burkes.

'Pile on' Let me help you to rephrase that...people who like to see the laws of the land upheld. You're welcome.

Sounds like the teacher accepted the outcome and apologised. Whereas Burke.....

    A very poor comparison example.

he probably doesn't know how to exist without the whole saga at this stage - sure what else would he do?

    Does he even drive?

When the parents pass on I can see a bleak future for him and some of the other siblings. Left with instructions to continue the doomed conflict with the courts in an endless loop and no way out in the absense of his own critical thinking.

Yeah we have to remember that this is right outside a school where children are attending daily. The right wing oddballs turning up and making scenes is just awful but it's good because it puts the whole right wing loon scene into perspective. Any normal parent doesn't want old weirdos walking around near schools and creches with cameras. I understand far right types seem to condone it but it's a minority view. Your mind automatically goes to why are they in that environment with cameras where little kids are around? Very unsettling.

I like the fact that the new security man is rather elderly in appearance, like EB's father, instead of a much younger man, which could be why he's there two days in a row. It put's EB at a disadvantage where it comes to verbal exchanges and trying to slip past him up the school driveway, let alone showing up with a rent-a-mob group and letting them surround the man. The image of the man lying on the ground after a hand-collision by EB would be disastrous to EB's campaign.

he knows that, the trick is to pretend it’s about beliefs and then be outraged. No place for facts in this.

So you don't believe in democracy then…. you think some peoples right are more important than yours?

Ireland is a direct democracy with an constitution enacted by it's people. It recongised equally the rights of everyone resident in the state and sets out the due process for exercising those rights. EB has exhausted all his legal rights under the constitution and now has decided to ignore the rights of those who have won their case. You can't support EB and claim to support democracy and you can claim to support injustice and ignore the rights of those who have under the law won their case.

You need to decide to you support democracy and the rule of law or are you a facist.

a good hiding doesnt resolve trauma, it in fact tends to induce even more, and making the individuals much much worse

They need to lock up the ring leader of that family.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,617 ✭✭✭✭kneemos

So the well known remedy of a "kick in the hole" never worked.

Used to be the cure for most everything.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,770 ✭✭✭✭Wanderer78

the whole family needs significant levels of professional care now, our legal system isnt equipped with resolving such serious issues, it in fact is making the situation worse

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,770 ✭✭✭✭Wanderer78

and you d wonder why theres many wondering around with significant levels of mental health and addiction problems, some from their 'kicks in their holes' approach!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,866 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

I wonder what the school's intake has been last couple of years and has it dropped at all? If my child was already in school I'd find it hard to move them, but if they were planning on going there and this is still going on I'd be looking elsewhere...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,272 ✭✭✭Pauliedragon

It was a tongue in cheek comment I did say I despise violence.

In any discussion of the TV licence we're constantly reminded that no one is ever imprisoned for not paying a TV licence, rather imprisoned for not paying the resulting fine. Repeat it as often as you like: it will remain a legally correct and yet totally meaningless observation.
