    A victory against racism

The Adelaide Writers’ Week, Australia’s largest literary gathering, was canceled on 13 January following the resignation of its director and a mass boycott by writers protesting the removal of Palestinian-Australian author Randa Abdel-Fattah.

The decision came after the festival board disinvited Abdel-Fattah from its program, arguing that her appearance would not be “culturally sensitive” following the 14 December Bondi Beach mass shooting in Sydney that targeted a Jewish Hanukkah gathering and killed 15 people.

Festival organizers said on 13 January that the event could no longer proceed after a wave of withdrawals and resignations made it unviable.

Israeli tourists accused of arson in Argentina (probably in retaliation for decision by Argentina not to move its embassy to Jerusalem).

Several figures from Argentina's opposition, including the country's former army chief Cesar Milani, have shared claims circulating on social media accusing Israeli tourists of deliberately starting a series of fires sweeping across Patagonia in southern Argentina, near the border with Chile.

In a post shared on X on Sunday, Milani accused "a foreign state" of intentionally igniting the fires, which began last Monday and have burned more than 3,500 hectares of land.

He tries to smooth this out a bit, but the message is clear.

The victors write the narrative and they'll wrote it the way they want to.

Another “blood libel” like accusing them of bombing hospitals and poisoning wells.

Expect the same when the US annexes the territory of Denmark.

Almost totally wiped? A supremacist ethno state was created for them. Israel bombed Middle Eastern Jewish communities such as in Iraq, to encourage them to resettle in Israel.

The UAE are a rogue state.

A leaked document obtained by the EmirateLeaks outlet has revealed an Emirati government proposal to use UAE bases in the Red Sea to provide direct military, intelligence, and logistical support to Israel throughout its war on Gaza

The document dates back to October 2023 and is addressed to the Joint Operations Command of the UAE Armed Forces. It was written by Hamdan bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Representative of the Al-Dhafra Region and Chairman of the UAE Red Crescent Authority.

“With the [7 October] terrorist … attacks on the sister state of Israel, and based on the historic agreement stipulating cooperation between the two countries … and in implementation of the order issued by the UAE Joint Operations Command to support the State of Israel through military bases in the southern Red Sea region – Al-Mokha on Yemen’s western coast, as well as Massawa and Assab in Eritrea and Somalia – swift preparations and readiness were undertaken to provide our military bases in the southern Red Sea, especially in Yemen, with everything necessary to support the State of Israel,” the document starts out by saying.

    Another victory against zionism.

New York Attorney General Letitia James' office said on Tuesday it reached a settlement with Betar US that would wind down the far-right Zionist group's New York operations after an investigation found the group intimidated pro-Palestinian activists.

After President Donald Trump took office last year and signed executive orders targeting pro-Palestinian protesters and activists, Betar said it provided names of international students and faculty to the Trump administration for deportation. Trump's deportation attempts have faced legal setbacks.

The demarcation lines are becoming clearer.

Tensions between "Israel" and China have intensified, as both take steps in a growing technological and security standoff, Reuters reported on Wednesday.

Chinese private vehicles were banned from entering security-sensitive industrial zones in "Israel", amid growing concerns within the country’s security and military establishment that technological systems in these cars could be used to leak sensitive information.

Amid this intensifying cold conflict, Chinese authorities have instructed domestic companies to stop using cybersecurity software produced by around 12 American and Israeli firms, Reuters reported, citing two sources familiar with the matter. These directives were issued in recent days over national security concerns in China.

I suspect Israelis might disagree with your characterisation of them not being at war. The point of my defence of Israel is that things that are done during wartime would indeed be repugnant if being done during peacetime or for no reason. If the objective is to destroy Hamas/Palestinian Islamic Jihad etc, then the onus becomes on them, having started a war with Israel, to surrender.

As to your hypothetical, if Hamas militants got into a hospital in Tel Aviv that would be very bad news, but given that it would be in Israeli territory I'd imagine there would be much wider array of options, both in terms of evacuation and neutralising the militants, than what they have in Gaza.

It doesn't matter what you say Israelis think (and again you ignore many, including Israeli human rights groups, some soldiers etc who are completely against this, and have declared this as a genocide of Gazans), nor does it matter if enemies surrender or not - you can't enact a starvation campaign, blow up hospitals and schools filled with civilians, and destroy all the infrastructure civilians need to live, and call it war. IHL, the bedrock of our civilization, exists particularly for these types of scenarios.

By calling this catastrophe "war" is merely you trying normalize the worst war crimes I have ever witnessed in my lifetime. There is no war that I know comparable to this - I have never seen such asymmetrical death numbers before in war, it is unprecedented. 99% of deaths and casualties have been Gaza ,80% of them civilian (from IDFs own statistics). That alone places Gaza miles outside the norm of conventional warfare, and alongside some of the worst modern mass atrocity cases.

Even now, after the ceasefire, hundreds of Gazan civilians have been murdered. How is this justified? How do you support this?

As to your hypothetical, if Hamas militants got into a hospital in Tel Aviv that would be very bad news, but given that it would be in Israeli territory I'd imagine there would be much wider array of options, both in terms of evacuation and neutralising the militants, than what they have in Gaza.

There are other options in Gaza aswell, such as not committing mass warcrimes by completely destroying every hospital at the same time as starving everyone in an enclave you have complete control of.

And again you didn't address what I asked you, you are dodging.

Logically would you support the IDF bombing a hospital in Tel-Aviv, most likely killing civilians and medical staff inside, to get a militant? If not, why would you support it in Gaza? Why is a Gazans woman or child different to an Israeli, or expect less protection?

Israel wants another military base, this time in Algeria.

Likud Party Knesset member Dan Illouz suggested that "Israel" officially recognize the independence of Algeria’s Kabylie region, Israeli daily Israel Hayom reported on Wednesday.

We should know from the Kinahan saga exactly what the UAE are like. They are stoking the civil wars in Sudan, Yemen and Libya among other places.

I'd like to raise a question to those constantly berating Israel for all the killing.

How does the conflict end and what does that look like? Assuming a peace could be struck, all the remaining Palestinians are your future hamas. They do another attack - Israel retaliates and does 90% of the job. Rince and repeat.

The way only way to win a war is to eliminate the other side completely. The allies did not leave much nazi soldiers alive at the end of WW2. Any SS that were alive were sentenced to death. Dresden was firebombed to the ground much like Gaza was now.

The US showed Japan what ending the war would like. And I have no doubt if Japan did try to fight on then the US would have destroyed the country.

*Not picking a side simply asking a question. I just don't understand the logic behind some of the arguements.

The way only way to win a war is to eliminate the other side completely.

So your solution is full and complete genocide of the Palestinian people?

Honestly that's one of the most callous, disgusting and mind boggling things I've ever read.

The conflict ends when there is a palestinian state.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,037 ✭✭✭BP_RS3813

    Never said the Palestinian people.

I said "the other side" meaning it can be either side (most likely would be Palestine in this scenario but you get the point).

Would other countries support that and defend it assuming it got to that stage? Israel will never accept that unless forced to. Not to mention the hate that will have festered due to Israels actions - would either side be willing to forgive and move on?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,085 ✭✭✭Rocket_GD

You implied it by saying “remaining Palestinians are your future Hamas”.

You imply they’re all future terrorists and the only end is the genocide of them entirely.

    That’s utterly deplorable.
But you’re “just asking questions” so it’s ok.

We’ve all heard that shít before.

It would have to be guaranteed by the international community. Israel should not have a veto over it's existence. The best that might occur is that they tolerate each others proximity, similar to the North.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,037 ✭✭✭BP_RS3813

If your home was bombed to ground and family killed, would you really make peace? Because thats a good portion of Gaza right now I imagine.

Once again - I do not mean the one side. It can be either. If the coin was flipped I would say the exact same thing.

    Its the logical thought process.

    Again, “just asking questions

You are openly and without shame calling for the genocide of a people, not matter what side it is.

    It’s beyond deplorable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,037 ✭✭✭BP_RS3813

I doubt they can 'tolerate each other's existence though. Possibly with a long enough peace a unique culture might form like with the North as you say.

They shouldn't but they do. Its not unique to them though. With the globalisation of trade many countries are at the mercy of each other whether it be military (Gaza/Israel), Economically (China could stop trading with one country right now and effectively cripple it).

The 'international community' also is quite fractured at the moment, worried about bigger things (mainly the US) so a small conflict which has been ongoing for decades is not the top priority.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,037 ✭✭✭BP_RS3813

At least you understand now I wasn't specifically calling for the destruction of Palestine and am not pro Israel.

Its the logical choice. Take a look at how many conflicts are around the world due to unresolved issues (peace never properly formed, one side being nearly killed only to emerge years later on).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,085 ✭✭✭Rocket_GD

No, you just think that anyone’s left are all going to be terrorists.

In your head the “logical choice” is genocide, that’s sickening.

Think about what you’re saying and take a long hard look at yourself in the mirror.

The UAE really do seem to be a problem for the Arab World. Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan seem to be developing an alliance to counter UAE and their zionist friends.

Not 'terrorists'. I dislike that word and its negative connatations. It effectively just means the losing side on the backfoot (IRA in the north during the troubles, Hamas - if there is any left now) and so on.

They will grow up to attack the side that beat and destroyed their home/family etc.

Give it over with the moral judgement.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,085 ✭✭✭Rocket_GD

You have no moral compass when you’re calling for the actual genocide of a people.

    I’m done with you.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 1,623 ✭✭✭Gerry T

@BP_RS3813 is Israel have occupied another country, using some of your logic, would you not agree that the international community should forceably remove them, if it were required. Then a UN peace keepinf force would control the borders and like our own country, with time the murders will stop. Again logic would look to enforce the original borders so all those illegal land grabbers should go home. I wont say back to israel as alot of them come from all over the globe.

If the war is so lopsided, then why have the de-facto government of Gaza not surrendered?

Again, as to your hypothetical, if Hamas militants somehow got holed up in a hospital in Tel-Aviv, I would expect the IDF to do what any military should do in that situation; neutralise the SOB in the manner that causes the minimum destruction to its own infrastructure and people. Again, it would be a lot easier to do this in Israeli controlled territory than in Hamas controlled territory.

Would it end? I suspect that many of Israel's enemies would not be satisfied - like Iran for example, and their proxies. ISIS, Al Qaeda etc, and the people in the West who go on marches chanting "From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free"

Unless you mean when Israel is annihilated and it is replaced by a "Palestine" instead … that would be one way to end it, I suppose.
