it’s all about understanding where you need to be.

For me , the meds help me to get to where I need to be, safely and healthily.

I am hoping that I learn what my body needs, understand portions and eat accordingly.

No point in doing all this and then going right back to stuffing your face everyday.

It’s ok to have a blowout at Christmas.

You need to look at the data and manage accordingly.

switching from MJ to Ozempic as of tomorrow. Was going good on MJ but the price was just crazy. Don’t have 500 a month to cover it. I had shifted about 7 kilos in about 3 months which while not amazing was certainly going the right way and 2 of those months was on quite low dosage.

Hi all,Ive read through this thread and am thinking now is the time for me to try something like this, probably Wegovy coz of cost, hoping to lose at least 6 stone.Am I right in thinking that mybmi is the cheapest option to go with? From what i can tell its about 250 per month.

    Thanks

Wegovy and Ozempic are the same thing I think. Wegovy can be prescribed in higher doses though. Ozempic is 136 per month in boots and possibly cheaper in local pharmacies. There is 3 doses 0.25mg, 0.5mg and 1mg but the price is the same across the 3 doses.

They usually say 0.25 for 4 weeks then 0.5 for 4 weeks and then 1mg but my gp prescribed them for 2 weeks at a time before moving up the dose.

    go to https://corryschemists.com/

And click on Weight Loss Injections Ireland -this should be cheaper to start than mybmi.

I am getting my Mounjaro from them but with my own GP prescription as I like getting regular blood tests and I get 75% back for my GP appointments so works out marginally cheaper.

Heading into Week 2 with Ozempic.

No side affects, and do feel full most days, to the point where the idea on having food doesn’t appeal to me sometimes.

Am not weighing myself weekly as I know the 1st month is more getting used to the drug.

Did you gp say to stay on the starting doses for 2 or 4 weeks?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 10,717 ✭✭✭✭guil

Oh while I think of it. Did you get the 1mg pen or the .25mg?

My gp told me to get the 1mg from the beginning and count the clicks. It will last longer with the starting doses. 18 clicks is .25mg and 36 is .5mg

Has anyone recently got wegovy from boots, can you share how much it cost. I ordered a prescription yesterday on line with llyods on line doctor. The consultation and script cost €20 (usually €25) but there is a discount code at the moment. I selected boots pharmacy as my pick up. Have read through most of this thread and the majority seem to order through bmi.ie so now I'm wondering is the cost of my prescription from boots going to extortionate? First time user so just order lowest dose.

Edited to add - I rang boots today and cost for 1 month of lowest dose is €224.50. Just updating incase this if of interest to anyone. I will collect tomorrow and start on my journey.

Id strongly suggest switching to ozempic. Doc told me wegovy and ozempic are the same thing but wegovy can be got in a higher dose.

Ozempic is €136 per month in boots and the three different doses are the same price

Thanks for info. I'll prob go ahead and collect tomorrow and pay the €214.Just to get started and hopefully see results. And if all goes well first few weeks I might go to my own GP and see about getting a script from from him for ozempic. Did you have any bad symptoms when you started or how long did it take for you to start loosing weight. I've been loosing some for the last 11 months by tracking and being in calorie deficit and have lost nearly 3 stone.... put on few lbs over the last few weeks with xmas and and just feel myself slipping and have no motivation to get back to the routine I had before all the xmas madness started. So I'm hoping this will give me what I need to get back into my good routine. I have another 3 stone to loose ideally so hoping it works for me.

When I first started I used to get bad nausea if I had more than 1 cup of coffee a day. That last 2 or 3 months I think

    Right, quick update.
Was on 6mg every 3 days. Got great results. Peaked (or troughed!) at 162.2lbs. Had started at 221.4, so a 59lb loss.
Started tapering on January 2nd, which was 6mg every 4 days. Did that for 4 jabs, then reduced it to 5mg every 4 days. Took my 3rd 5mg jab this morning.
Definitely an increase in appetite as I draw close to jab day. But I can ignore most of it as mind over matter.
When losing weight, my peaks were around 15.6mg and troughs were around 12.4mg.
Now that I’m tapering, they’re at 10.7mg and 7.5mg respectively, which are big drops.
The weight has crept up by a few pounds (I’m at 165.5lbs today), but if I can stay anywhere around that weight whilst continuing to taper, I’d be delighted.

Hi folks I started on wegovy 3 weeks ago, fourth injection today .25 mg dose. So far I have lost 5 kg down from 109 to 104

The good news is I have no side effects. On the flip side I don't feel I'm getting any assistance from the wegovy and its all down to will power. I am hungry before each meal and hungry after each meal particularly at night time.

My GP has said she will prescribe on a monthly basis depending on how I'm doing.

    Any thoughts.

Your weight loss might well be down to willpower alone... But presumably you are going down the wegovy route because willpower alone hasn't been enough up to now to deal with your weight. Only you can know how your current initial weight loss compares to previous diets where you didn't have any assistance from medication.

But 5kg weight loss in 3 weeks is quite substantial. Perhaps the new year has given you more resolution and drive also.

If it had been effective you would have had appetite suppression. I've had a very strong one on Mounjaro for the first 6 months - had to force myself to eat literally and I only went as far as 5mg dose.

I have been taking 3.5mg every 10 days for the past couple of months and I feel hungrier than before but not to the point when I want to eat non healthy stuff or able to eat a lot.

See how it goes after the dose goes up - if still struggling as in feeling hungry and having to force yourself to eat less and constantly thinking about food than maybe you should try Mounjaro.

just to add to the above I moved from MJ to Ozempic and found the start of MJ didn’t make much difference but as the dosage went up it kicked in. Only 3 weeks into Ozempic and while I havent felt much difference I suspect next month with higher dosage will. The doctor had said it to me too that it was likely to happen that way. I’d stick at it for 2/3 months before deciding to leave it.

Onto Week 5 with Oz. Up to 0.5 now.

So far no side effects, I have noticed a reduction in appetite to the point where I have had a fork of food in my mouth and my body said no, I would normally have 4 chicken goujons for dinner, now it’s 2.

Hopefully the 0.5 will move me even more.

    quick follow up.

Bit more side effects on the 0.5, some nausea

On the plus side, after 4 weeks on Oz am down……

    6kg

    Woohoo

Lost a stone the last 3 weeks without medication.

But I feel myself slipping, so did via online doctor and got approved for Mounjaro.

That sounds on the surface of things like an excessive amount of weight loss in a very short period - 4 pounds a week, even if your figures were rounded a bit. I guess it depends on where you're starting from, e.g. 20+st v 15st.
