Nonsense. Nobody, but nobody is entitled to spew their crap across the airwaves

    I'm partial to your abracadabra
I'm raptured by the joy of it all

Joe Brolly, you have been found guilty of being Joe Brolly. I sentence you to life imprisonment without parole

    A bit like this?

It alone would be worth it if we get some GOLD like this. Fair play to your man though, he had a point. And I had a shirt like that, same colours and pattern, only nicer still.

Ray D'Arcy stole a living for decades spewing crap across the airwaves. And on TV too. So have many other presenters, some of them are still at it.

If I had kids in that school or if I was a teacher I would be worried at this point that EB is going to become Irelands first school shooter. I think thats a very real danger at this point. Its not right to have kids and staff have to work with a lunatic turning up every day.

After yesterday's performance it'll be interesting to see if EB returns to his solo protest at WHS or turn's up with the group he had yesterday, or if he decides to go into hiding to avoid the Gardai again while working on his panel appeal presentation. Yesterday's display indicates he knows he's run out of ground, nowhere to go, turning up on foot at the gate with a mixed group of media people and strange persons. HIS group trespassing on to the school grounds past the gates and surrounding the security man on all sides to give EB a chance to talk at him for his live media presentation then. Peculiar thing is the sudden drop-off of mention of him and his protests in the papers and on the airwaves.

I'd agree. well, 99% agree. When there's a certain level of fanaticism there's always a risk that it could turn violent. However there's no indication that any of Burkes ideology is violent and in fact it probably views violence as a bad thing. Still I wouldn't feel qualified to say it's 100% certain.

same here, neither of us are truly qualified to be sure, id imagine, even professionals would struggle with such as consideration, but im still not convinced this situation will lead to such violence, i could be wrong of course, but….

Now his supporters on the other hand. Some of them were more than happy to see the rioting in Dublin.

I thought that was the Gerry Hannon/Frank McCourt/Pat Kenny debacle 😂😂😂.

I think that we have already paid 250k of our tax-payer money to his nonsense. I don’t want him to benefit from his poor behaviour. He will spout lies and further antagonise. He is a lost cause. But we should not be seen to encourage this behaviour for other wannabe-Enochs. Do not give him the publicity that he thrives on.

The thing that irks me most is his disingenuous portrayal of the case: this is not about his religious objections. This is about his gross insubordination and professional misconduct. Nobody prevents him from holding his convictions. But if he acts in a manner that disrupts the integrity of the workplace, this is a breach of trust. And his further stunts put petrol on any relations. How could he ever work in Wilson’s again. This is not about the children of Wilson’s. This is all about Enoch’s fallacious belief that he is correct

That's it exactly - how could he ever possibly work in Wilson's again? He has disrespected the school, the students, the teachers and the parents.

If he tried to get a job at any other school, there would be a protest by the parents.

What he is doing now is just creepy.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

Allegedly EB has supporters out there.

This is the kind of thing that he would love. Because taking the two different sides runs the risk of sowing the seeds of a culture war in the minds of people like Enoch. They would use the viewpoints of Panti to bolster their own views. The best thing that we can do is let this debate die and to not give fuel to the agitators who just want to see society hurled into anarchy

There is zero point from putting Enoch on TV for an interview apart from creating a sideshow and giving the family more notoriety.

He’s fundamentally dishonest about why he has been in prison and his statements that his religious beliefs give him immunity for his actions. He’s not going to approach an interview in a reasonable way, and the interviewer ask him questions until he’s blue in the face, Enoch isn’t going to change his mind.

I think the guy with the megaphone yesterday was actually chanting "flee flee Egg Nog Burke".

I'd be thinking more of the lines of watching Enoch squirm as Panti spent the interview flirting with him.

while it would certainly be entertaining, the problem is that people would then use the footage to vindicate Enoch and to make out that this was all along a question of Enoch’s religious freedom. The spotlight should illuminate Enoch’s unwillingness to engage in a reasonable manner that one would expect from a professional in a position of authority. His beliefs and what led him to behave like this is arbitrary. Today, he rejects the use of the pronouns. Maybe tomorrow he rejects the vegan meals in the canteen. Professionalism is all about dependability and a knowledge on how to appropriately escalate one’s concerns through the chain of command. If we all take a foghorn and start denouncing our personal prejudices, the workplace will descend into chaos

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,126 ✭✭✭✭Marcusm

But that’s my point; he would be able to argue that they were prejudiced when in fact he’s the extremist (in behaviour whatever his views).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,126 ✭✭✭✭Marcusm

And that, I think, was why he was released without his own application. To adduce evidence that he was not genuine in pursuing his appeal and thus to allow the court to make an order bypassing all the other processes - it did not matter hell fore that this might have been apparent (or even obvious) to the court as they could not take notice of it, it was not evidence.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 975 ✭✭✭BettyS

He has drawn spotlight to a loophole in the law. I cannot believe that he has gotten away with the nonsense for so long. Money funding his bad behaviour and essentially publicity stunt could have been used towards SNAs or hot-meals for the children that he professes to care so much about. It is a staggering amount to waste on what was essentially a fringe-issue

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 323 ✭✭MadeInKerry

Clearly he is not bothered about the trauma this might be causing kids going to the school. Some of time might find it funny, but some would be badly effected by this. Burke is not as passive and caring as people seem to think.

This is deeply disturbing. Some very sick people out there if they think targetting a child is in any way acceptable.

A man so scared of his mother that he remonstrated himself for being almost tempted to go to the pub once. Bravery is not something he has.

Burke was followed closely by Philip Dwyer yesterday…

In May 2010 Dwyer was fired from his job as a postman with An Post for "dereliction of duty and for failing to comply with their instructions" after several instances in which he had kicked dogs including kicking one in the head with a steel-capped boot, threatened a woman that he would shoot her dog dead, and failed to comply with instructions.[32][33] Dwyer appealed the matter before a labour court in September 2012.[32][33] The tribunal ruled against Dwyer.[6]

On 14 March 2023, Dwyer was brought before Tallaght District Court in Dublin, and was charged with engaging in threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour at a children's crèche on the Grange Road, Dublin 16 on 30 June 2021. Dwyer accused the crèche of promoting "LGBT Ideology" after spotting a poster featuring a rainbow in the window.[3] The owner testified that Dwyer approached her while filming her on a smart phone and he stated the rainbow represented homosexuals and that "homosexuals are paedophiles" and she was therefore "indoctrinating four-year-olds to welcome paedophiles into their life". Giving evidence in his own defence, Dwyer stated that he was delivering a package while working as a courier for Pony Express when he noticed the flag, and approached the crèche in a his capacity as a citizen journalist in order to have a robust conversation, however he strongly denied using the word "paedophilia" and disagreed that his behaviour caused a breach of the peace. On 19 September 2024, Judge Patricia McNamara dismissed the charges against Dwyer, ruling that the threshold for a guilty verdict had not been met.[34]

In November 2024, Gardaí began investigating Dwyer for allegedly assaulting a 66-year-old disabled pensioner, the father of Wicklow's People Before Profit candidate Kellie McConnell, in Bray, County Wicklow. Dwyer, seen in a video brandishing an extendable baton, allegedly pushed the man to the ground and produced the baton.[38] In August 2025, Dwyer appeared before Bray District Court and was charged with affray.[39]

In March 2025, a judge convicted Dwyer of trespassing at a direct provision centre at Magowna House in Inch, County Clare in May 2023. A staff member testified that Dwyer was "making me and my staff feel afraid and unsafe". The judge imposed a €500 fine.[40] He appealed the conviction to the circuit court, but his conviction was upheld.[41]
