Well he did say FF needs to get on with running the country and not waste time on nonsense.

Coleman attacks anything outside of his middle class milquetoast, Dublin-centric, bicycle powered bubble.

Met someone tonight I knew would have access and as of right now he absolutely is still a director and shareholder but apparently there's filings due so we will see if it changes in 1 month

Exactly. Plus he’s also former FF Minister Dermot Ahern’s brother in law so there should be no surprises he’s all for FF.

Me not know that! How are listeners supposed to know of the connection?

Is someone trying to keep it a secret? Miriam O'Callaghan does not mention that she is the sister of a Government Minister when she is on RTE. How are listeners and viewers supposed to know of the connection?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,437 ✭✭✭Danye

Fair point. But this is the problem. People who are pro government are in very prominent media positions.

It has been highlighted countless times that Miriam and Jim are siblings. In Miriam's book launch in almost every interview I heard she mentions that her mother always bangs on about Jim when he's on the television and barely says anything about Miriam being on it.

People at this point know that Miriam and Jim are siblings and it doesn't need to be pointed out all the time.

Also, people thinking this is a big conflict or whatever, it's not. She will never interview him even if he ever becomes Taoiseach.

Just want to thank Emmet Oliver for his competent and articulate shows on Newstalk since Monday. All three Late Breakfasts had guests normally on Pat Kenny and it was ably substituted in that slot.

Yes - I was working the last few mornings and it was good to have some decent live content on the radio.

In recent weeks, Savage resigned as director on being appointed Newstalk’s new breakfast presenter and placed his shareholding in a blind trust.

That Johnny Ward is awful on OTB. Hate when he's on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,483 ✭✭✭✭VinLieger

Doesn't mean squat when he still is a shareholder, mammy and daddy are still directors and Newstalk will still be used by CC to pump out whatever guff they've been paid to for that day. CC basically run the commentary of Newstalk now and they will say anything depending on who is paying the most.

Has there been any real marketing of the new schedule for Newstalk?

Remember back in 2013 it was wall to wall marketing from the station with the move of PK to them.

    ______

In the end they were just greedy, they all knew one another and knew what to expect more money for no return, it was a secure cash flow, but in fairness they looked for what they wanted and fair dues to them for that, and wouldn't you be doing the same!

Just one more thing .... when did they return that car

I am fair sick of the "hi its Jess Kelly" ads at the start and middle of podcasts. Can they not have a bit of variety in the ads for goodness sake?

Ciara Doherty had Louise Cantillon on this evening. I don't normally listen to Today FM so didn't know her but she came across really well. She talked a bit as gaeilge but mostly by throwing in a few words or sentences here and there in a nice way. Bubbly character.

Dunno, Ciara Doherty was talking to a newly dispatched NT reporter in Nuuk. She labelled him being in Greaseland and speaking to a Greaselandic

Anton Savage about to interview Niamh Kavanagh and Brian Kennedy about Dancing with the Stars. Why is this gunk being forced on the listening public? I get why RTE might want to promote their own show- the merits of it as a public service offering aside. Why though, is this paraded around every other media organisation?

I have to say, I'm listening to domestic radio less and less now- the quality of output is gone so far downhill. From an avid listener I've become detached.

I just tuned in. Is there really an interest in the tv show any more or listening to the contestants.

It's like listening to chefs talking before Christmas about how to roast a potato.... as if we have forgotten how since last year.

Newstalk, when it started, had a good Arts Show on Saturday mornings and History show (I think) when it started.

It's gone to pot in fairness. Cookery, how to declutter, what's on TV,the almost weekly life assurance slot.

Not sure who it's aimed at,but I'm certainly listening a lot less.

more Greaselandic talk from Ciara, even after others say Greenland 🙄

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,760 ✭✭✭✭zell12

Ciara managed to say Greaseland a few more times earlier today 🙄

"When a human locks eyes with a dog after we have sex".…maybe that woman on Moncrieff should have left a pause there.

18:25 and Michael O'Leary appears.. on about the do-nothing Taois, about the Taois drumming up jobs in Angola, the Taois not being let into White House in March if he does not sort out Dublin Airport. Called Elon Musk an idiot - a wealthy idiot, and social media is a cesspit.. and he is not on social media himself..

They must have really flashed the cheque book at Claire Byrne, she admitted last night on the LLS the salary was way better than the 280 k she was on at RTE.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,272 ✭✭✭✭kneemos

Apparently she was disgruntled about the salary cap at RTE.

Two million for three years at Newstalk it seems. Pat isn't even on that,400,000 if I remember right.

She was fairly rubbish when she was on the Breakfast Show with Yates. Don't see the attraction.

Rewarding mediocrity. That time she broadcast from her COVID cabin is probably the highlight of her career. Says it all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 3,884 ✭✭✭Azatadine

That was so cringe. What was she thinking that time.

Shane saying wearing trainers to work was very unprofessional. Ciara says but we have worn trainers to work.

Shane…Thats different because we're not on camera

I would think 99% of working people are not on camera either !
