But EB does not see outside the gate as the Work Place, I wonder will the security guard be back in place tomorrow?

Maybe not, as they might wait for the employer to report EB to the court first.

Of course there might be a media scrum to control.

A media scrum is just what they (the family) want.

And you're right; outside the gate will not be good enough for him.

It's very clear its a trap and Enoch is dumb enough to walk in to it even after seeing that it is.

This will allow any attempts to claim he can't prepare for the appeal fail.

A lot of decent, nice people in Mountjoy?

    I highly doubt it

Compared to the family they're probably great!

    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

They don’t want justice or due process- in fact they treat both with contempt - his sister did the exact same thing - when offered the chance of a hearing for her unfair dismissal, she and family members treated it like a circus.
my belief is all of these cases can be traced back to the mother - if life doesn’t conform to the expectations of the mother, she throws a wobbly and all the kids must unite behind her/ doesn’t matter about the long term impact on the individual son or daughter - the mothers righteousness is all that matters -she’s a hell of a lot to answer for with her shouting and stupid carry on

No sign so far of EB, with a live feed from an RTE reporter, at the school gates.

I'm getting images of Mammy changing a tyre on the hard shoulder.

Wheres the live feed? Looks like a rally stage with the amount of cars parked up from the photo I have seen.

T'was the last item on RTE's 7 to 9 news programme. I gathered that the reporter was staying local to keep us abreast of breaking news…

this should be like Italia’90. The whole country should be left off work so we can watch when he turns up.

Turning up late isn't really covering his claim that he turns up for work.

He also didn't "turn up for work" for a few days when he was on the run, and all the days he stood outside the gate either early on.

Hes arrived according to RTE 🤣

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,617 ✭✭✭✭kneemos

Apparently according to Newstalk he's there, but security is keeping him off the grounds.

Has the Judge created a slightly dodgy precedent by letting him out to prepare for his hearing?

EB made the valid point that Mountjoy is full of people waiting on hearings, preparing for them in their cells.

If EB can be released to prepare for a hearing, surely all other inmates are entitled to the same treatment?

Disclaimer; I am not an EB fan.

Everyone else in the same situation is there on a criminal sentence, so actions relating to civil contempt would not be relevant.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,617 ✭✭✭✭VinLieger

Reading the reasoning of the judge was to avoid another appeal by doing this so when it came time for the eventual disciplinary board hearing he cant cry that he wasn't let prepare.

Ah ok, fair enough. It was just a thought that occured to me!

I think in regards to EB's appeal the reason to let him out was so he can consult with witnesses in his appeal which would be harder to do from a cell.

Has anyone asked for him to be psychologically assessed?

At this stage, in the extremely unlikely event he's successful and gets his job back, surely there's a level of behaviour and psychological damage there that makes him an unsuitable candidate for a teacher position?

He's clearly, in some way, demented, and when the occasion arises, highly abusive and confrontational. Not the type of character you'd want for a teaching position.

Thats why I've said from the start the biggest thing from this should be a reform into how "Home Education" is assessed. Theres no way this situation should have been allowed where 8 kids are indoctrinated into basically a cult that makes them utterly incapable of functioning in society.

Thank christ theres zero chance of another Burke generation.

He hasn't been up for a criminal offence where that would be relevant. Yet.

This situation has been reminding me of the Brad Pitt movie "A River Runs Through It". I saw it about 25 years ago but when Brad Pitt's character is about 6 he doesn't want to eat his lunch. His father who is a deeply religious Presbyterian (some echos here already!) tells him he is not allowed to leave the table until he eats it. Brad just stares at his food, it cuts to him he is still staring at it. Then it cuts to him again and with the lighting we get the impression that it is twilight/late evening in the summer so Brad has been staring at his food for maybe 7 or 8 hours or more.

His father calls the rest of the family back in to the table, they sit down. The father says a quick prayer after meals and then the whole family, including Brad, can leave.

Brad's father eventually backs down. Enoch taking the young child's stubbornness to a previously unimaginable level though. And Judge Cregan doesn't need to, can't, and won't back down.

I was thinking about the judge's move and see it as him giving EB the option of getting his act together and confabbing with his lawyers 100% honestly about his court-granted panel appeal or returning to WHS on his continuing crusade against having to use the word/term "they" when referring to a boy, as he put it himself yesterday to the media.

The judge has caught EB on a hook of his own making, which is why he called the judge a hypocrite yesterday in releasing him from prison and why the judge told him he was shooting himself in his own feet [after EB told the judge, in anger, that he would be back at the school today]. Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't, as it is now.
