I really don't know why the above video is always so satisfying.

Is it her smugness or just the overall timing of the comment and slip???

Was California in the 1970s a great time to be alive and live there? The bands, the music, the tech, Apple, Atari, Intel, there are loads of them, Silicon Valley, Boeing, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory: the wealth and optimism, the weather.

Pretty much the serial-killer capital of the world too at that time.

I was going to skip the sleaze and serial killer bit, be optimistic.

Why do some people get big ugly and potentially dangerous dogs when there are plenty of nice breeds to choose from.

My mother used to say that there's no end to the worst. It's like a race to the bottom, and the winner keeps digging. I think the zombie apocalypse started in their brains.

How do they do it with cattle stealing. Do they say that a “ bullock worth a thousand euros “ was stolen ie the price that the farmer would get for it. Or a “ bullock worth three thousand euros “ was stolen ie the price that the butcher would get for it after it was “ cut “ so to speak 🤔

Do teenagers listen to music anymore. Back in the day whole social and fashion trends were created by various bands.

blindboy returns to this subject a lot. years ago, you connected with like minded people by wearing t-shirts of the bands you listened to, but now you connect on social media.

and about the cultural scarcity of actually deciding what to listen to because there was a financial or time cost to finding new music.

I wonder why people still use travel companies (TUI etc) to book hols to Spain/Portugal/Greece etc when it's easier and cheaper to book direct with a hotel or apartment and airline. I can understand the security of tour rep when it's long haul but the Costas ?

Comprehensive insurance cover would be one advantage.

those tv shows where antiques dealers go around trying to compete with each other, and always get significant discounts in the shops they go to - do antique shops in general hate them because they're setting up an expectation that you should always expect a discount? or are they great for creating business for antique shops?

How neo-cons can defend a genocide and then turn around and pretend to be in favour of the human rights of other people.

How tankies can pretend to be all in favour of human rights and then turn around and defend a horrific theorcratic regime which treats women like shlt slaughtering protestors by the thousands.

Why our public debate is swamped and dominated by two groups of vile people who are both in favour of slaughter.

Is it ? We have a private policy that covers all year and including USA travel is between 100-200 a year, both close to retirement age so higher risk.

Maybe you are right, I was just wondering.

Does personal abuse not apply only to a member of this site?

I noticed a member getting in trouble for calling a celebrity a name, the personal abuse rule was cited.

Cover for flight delays/ cancellations, transfer problems, accommodation issues etc. It's one of the main perceived benefits of package deals.

Travel insurance, medical cover etc is a completely separate issue tbh.

might be in the local charter. IIRC you're not allowed certain terms of abuse in the soccer forum as it's likely to kick off (pun unintended) an argument. from a quick look at a forum earlier (think it was the TV one) you're not allowed slag TV stars for their looks, which doesn't seem unreasonable.

Whatever became of the two punks with colourful mohawks that used to be seen around Donaghmede in the early 1990s?

Did they get non-extravagant jobs and a less conspicuous hair styles? Did they have a band, emigrated and became incredibly famous?

Yeah. Stuff like this is an interesting "wonder".

Sometimes when I'd see some talking heads on Reeling In The Years I'd often google them or see if they are on FB. A weird practice. But we all get our kicks differently.

I wonder how so many insurance brokers can charge ridiculous amounts for car insurance when 123 or redclick are always significantly cheaper.

Like why would anyone pay an extra 300 euro for the other ones?

Probably the same thing happened the goths, emos and the rest, they got jobs settled down and went vanilla.

Why has Funsubstance been down for days, now? I can't find anything being mentioned about it on the web (or I'm not looking hard enough).

I use them to get an idea of what's available and how much it will cost, find a holiday I would like, then I go and check how much directly and compare costs. Once or twice, Click and Go have been cheaper through their website, but not any of the others. Vast majority of the time I book direct, but still worth checking.

His and hers sink in an ensuite, how often are both going to be used at the same time ?

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 80,826 Mod ✭✭✭✭New Home

Often, especially if you have a young or a large family.

30 years ago when I was a college student in the optimistic 1990s, the emerging internet was called the "Information Superhighway."

The possibilities at the time afforded by this exciting new technology seemed endless and the opportunities also appeared boundless.

30 years later in a world filled with chaos, madness and vile individuals in power, it is clear to me that was what was once coined the information superhighway has instead degraded into a sewer pipe of absolute rubbish and dangerous misinformation. 👎

And it is turning the world into a cesspit of hatred. I wonder if the internet as it stands today needs a purge and reset?

Hitler and Mussolini were very popular before it went to shoite.
