as a matter of interest, what is the proceedure with regards Ross being allowed or not to continue in his roll as if nothing happened or is he allowed to continue on in his roll as an ICE Agent but with no permission to carry a gun or can he apply for time out.
and also , does he have to go through a refresher course that covers how one should act if in danger, occasions where the use of a gun is allowed , etc, etc.

I am of the opinion that the seasoned Negotiators in the EU and by extension the negotiators At member level that are at this type of work for years eg negotiating the various treaties, new EU applications, Brexit, annual budgets, dealing with non EU members, etc must love to see Trump coming with his demands / plans, etc

They NOW KNOW that Trump ‘chops and changes’ ; TACO all the time ; demands , say, that 30 things are agreed to in the hope that only 4 of them are agreed to.

My only surprise re his plans for Greenland is that he did not suggest that he might be interested in buying Denmark as well !

In other news, the EPA will only classify the cost to businesses when setting pollution limits. The human cost through illness or death will no longer factor in. The pro life party.

    2 things

One it pisses of the EU which he hates

Two, he'll get some sort of re-confirmation of the already existing deal re bases/soldiers etc and something re the minerals etc. Then he can boast about it and how no other President was able to do what he did, and everyone respects and fears him, basically wave his tiny penis around

Ross's veteran status is probably relevant as is his previous incident in June where he suffered a substantial arm injury. The pre shootings exchange seemed unnecessarily charged for an interaction where there should be no threat

Interesting study below in relation to Law Enforcement officers recruited from the military.

    https://academic.oup.com/jpubhealth/article-abstract/41/3/e245/5114353

Ten years of data were extracted from Dallas Police Department records. LEOs who were involved in a shooting in the past 10 years were frequency matched on sex to LEOs never involved in a shooting. Military discharge records were examined to quantify veteran status and deployment(s). Multivariable logistic regression was used to estimate the effect of veteran status and deployment history on officer-involved shooting involvement.

    Results

Records were abstracted for 516 officers. In the adjusted models, veteran LEOs who were not deployed were significantly more likely to be involved in a shooting than non-veteran officers. Veterans with a deployment history were 2.9 times more likely to be in a shooting than non-veteran officers.

    Conclusions

Military veteran status, regardless of deployment history, is associated with increased odds of shootings among LEOs. Future studies should identify mechanisms that explain this relationship, and whether officers who experienced firsthand combat exposure experience greater odds of shooting involvement.

Aloy , you need to be more specific re front of the car. Was Agent Ross directly in front of the car when he fired the first shot or was he in front of the car BUT TO THE SIDE OF IT ?

Secondly, a bit of a semantic point , there is a difference between one being directly in front of a car and right up against the front bumper and being directly in front of a car but being two yards in front of it. Because if one is two yards in front of it the person has a much higher chance of getting out of the way and especially of the car starts to move from a standing position

The boycotts of the US seen in Canada over disapproval of Trump and annexation threats do not appear to be taking root here. Travel from Ireland to the US is down 6.2% this year, which isnt as high as 17% from Canadians.

Will be interesting to see if the demand for 5 years of social media will change that. Its reported they even want travellers DNA. I dont trust this administration with our dna.

Successive Irish governments have put too many eggs in the one basket. We need to grow trade with China to balance things out.

Also, Irish indigenous companies have not made as much progress increasing trade within the EU market. Multinationals account for much of our trade within the EU.

The real domestic terrorists in the US are Kristi Noem and the ICE thugs she is allowing to run wild.

that’s his MO, every time something happens that he wants to avert the gaze from he deflects with Greenland. Same this time, woman killed by ICE.. he goes at Greenland so it’s all deflecting, people now in uproar about that rather than the killing.

Best thing to do with him, is just stop posting anything about him.

The narrower a man’s mind, the broader his statements.

100% correct. And it works too. You could even see it on this thread. The folks defending the killing (without a leg to stand on) mostly disappeared when the Greenland invasion non-story got the headlines. The Greenland invasion threat helps in the negotiations of course too. The blatant violation of international law in Venezuela seems like an age ago.

Throw a few threats around bombing Iran into the mix and you got yourself a convoy. I am all for the Iranian people rising up against their loony religious rulers but maybe the USA should stay out of it this time.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

I imagine the Doomsday clock will get a jump this month.

It will probably go from from 89 seconds to 45 seconds.

America, a rogue state and a sh!t hole country led by a fascist dictator, being the main reason

The presence of heavily armed and masked thugs on the streets seems no accident. Perhaps the American public are the 'real' targets i.e. Trump putting his own private militia visibly into action in order to intimidate dissenters and critics of the regime.

Trump seems nervous about the upcoming ruling. The argument seems to be that if he did something illegal, it would be more expensive to fix it, so best leave it alone??

With SCOTUS now due to make a ruling on Wednesday, I wonder what is he going to do to distract everyone from their outcome (should it go against him)?

I'll always remember just following the election results, a journalist interviewed a guy who said he voted for Trump.

When asked why, he said "because of his business acumen".

My eyes rolled so far back in my head I nearly passed out. The absolute ignorance of it all

I would be worried he might do something re Greenland. Maybe announce more troops being stationed there, to escalate the situation further. Or could get lucky and have another legal ICE killing.

By some calculations, less than 1% of the Epstein files have been released so far. At the current rate this process could go on for the next decade. Congressmen Thomas Massie and Ro Khanna have proposed to a federal judge that a special master be appointed to go through the files and protect the identities of victims. Funny enough, there is an available work force for this task - all the private firms that Trump forced to volunteer to do pro bono work for the government. What better work could they be doing?

The push to remove Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell is gathering pace and has provoked vigorous criticism:

The Justice Department investigation into Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell is sparking backlash from former Federal Reserve and Treasury officials as well as current members of Congress, including those in President Donald Trump's own party.

A bipartisan group of top economic officials released a blistering statement on Monday calling the probe an "unprecedented attempt to use prosecutorial attacks to undermine" the central bank's independence.

Hes only getting started. A person who knows nothing but who is convinced they know everything is a dangerous fool.

The Japanese are selling US bonds, China have exited almost $700bn in bonds at a loss. Its reported the treasury bought these bonds, but with printed money. Hes threatening the Fed, which if he gets his way will accelerate the slide.

I really hope us clowns in Europe aren't left holding the can when they default. Ireland has a serious exposure in comparison to our GDP. No doubt we'll still be sitting on the deck of the Titanic when its already below the waves.

Trump is using alot of dirty underhanded tricks to get Powell to bend the knee, maybe he will be the man to put some manners in Trump.

Im shocked to see that Powell is only 72, he looks much older, all this stress certainly wont help him.

Janet Yellen, Powell’s predecessor at the Fed, is not happy with this criminal investigation:

Former Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen on Monday condemned an investigation into her successor, Jerome Powell, saying it compromises the central bank’s independence.

Yellen, who served as Treasury secretary after leaving the Fed, added that she thinks financial markets should be more concerned about a situation that she called “extremely chilling.”

“I’m surprised the market isn’t more concerned. It seems to me that the market should be concerned,” Yellen said, according to CNBC’s Sara Eisen.

Yellen said using the Fed’s key overnight borrowing rate to manage the debt is irresponsible.

“You have a president that says the Fed should be cutting rates to lower rate payments on the federal debt,” Yellen said, adding she “completely [disagrees] with that. It is the road to a banana republic.”
