    Only earns on EI/BA/AA

So I can earn Air Canada points on EI but not the other way around?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,040 ✭✭✭✭Red Silurian

Another way to look at it is €2.50 in clubcard points gets you 600 avios or €250 spend gets you 600 points, which is the equivalent of 2.4 points per euro spent. Yes I'll get better value on B&Q (10 avios/€) or booking.com (6 Avios/€) but it's better than what I get in any other supermarket which is zero

Interesting one, booked a flight in June using the free flights on the credit card which was cancelled yesterday. They've offered me flights out of Dublin instead but I'd rather get my avios and free flight voucher back

Apparently I have to contact aerclubassist@aerlingus.com to do this but that email address doesn't work, I keep getting a return from postmaster to say it doesn't exist. Has anybody on here ever been in a similar situation?

Edit: I have been informed that the correct email address to use is aercreditcard@aerlingus.com

Hope this helps somebody in the future

I hadn't quite noticed just how crap the actual earn on flights was these days, until checking my account there.

Two nights in a budget Marriot sub-brand hotel has got me >2x the Avios than the actual EI flights to stay in said hotel.

Of course, a pair of Adidas runners got me more than the two of those combined. Really has become an online shopping points system.

I've gotten more points on the aircoach to the airport than the flight itself…

I earn enough for a IE-UK flight by flying economy to the west coast return which is a fairly decent return. As you go up the status levels the bonus % kicks in and makes a big difference

Yeah, I was only looking at this yesterday! Making the majority of my avois on hotel bookings and Revolut. A few measly points on my recent flights.

On prepay rates with revolut and booking.com you get ten points per euro when revolut pay option is there.

I am sure it's asked before. If I book a avios flight (not credit card) can I cancel and get the full points back?

Due a trip and the fares are little high but my dates are not flexiable so would like a back up plan in place until they discount the fares.

The avios flight is not great value so prefer only to use if no other option.

Yes, you get all the Avios and cash back minus a €42.50 cancellation fee. You have to cancel at least 24 hours before the flight.

I am looking at booking a flight to Europe and pay some of it with my Avios but I’ve run into an issue

on the App it allows me to pay with more Avios but there is no Revolut Pay option

on a web browser (chrome and Edge) it only allows me to pay with less Avios than the App and there is an option for Revolut Pay

I would rather pay with with more Avios and Revoult Pay (to get the extra Rev Pay Points)

Has anyone else experienced this or am I doing something wrong?

The welcome bonus for credit card increased from 5 to 6.5k.

For a limited time only, new card holders will receive 6,500 welcome bonus Avios. Customer must open a new Aer Credit Card account between 12 January–20 February 2026 to be eligible to receive the bonus. Eligible customers will need to spend the required €1,000 by 8 May 2026 to qualify for the 6,500 bonus. Cardholder must have a linked Aer Club account to receive the bonus Avios.

They must be feeling Revolut’s paid plans, especially ultra

Doesn’t come close,I mean U.S and UK cards are bonus’ing 10 times aer clubs pittance

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,043 ✭✭✭Van.Bosch

that’s due to higher interest rates paying for the extra points.

Hi all, I booked a flight through rewards.aerlingus.com. Very straight forward. Only thing is I can't add seats online. Do I need to email/call them

Higher merchant / interchange fees really, not interest. The interest rates are similar on cards here and only idiots use expensive interest cards to get a tiny amount of points (and its still tiny compared to interest in the US). Credit cards should be paid off in full.

EU has capped the fees for personal cards, and that means that the range of goodies on personal cards will never be very high here.

With revolut offering 10 points per euro on a range of spends such as Singapore Airlines and TUI, I see no real benefit in the avios card. CVS pharmacies in the US give a bonus 7 points per euro spent for example.

Booking.com and Hotels.com now earn 8 avios per euro spent. That’s brilliant for me, I do a good bit of travelling and am earning a nice bit now because of that.

In my experience to date the prices paid have been higher if going through avois into booking.com.

Have found prices cheaper simply by using my genius discount and then getting avois via revolut card.

Thats just me though so wont suit everyone

If you look at the price breakdown when this happens there is a "Booking.com pays" discount. You don't get that if you book through the Avios link. I find it's usually worth more than the value of the Avios. That discount is in a minority of cases though. Most of the time there's no difference in price.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,603 ✭✭✭bikeman1

I always check on my mobile through the booking.com app. Then go through Aer Club. If there is a difference that’s significant I don’t bother with the Aer Club.

However, I have found that it is linking back across to the app and giving me the discount I have Genius 3+. I did one such booking this week. And have the notification for the avios in already. Exact same price.

    I've found this too.

I cant get it to carry across to the app as suggested above.

Anybody else finding they are making rewards requests that are getting rejected because

the Aer Credit Card Allocation has been taken on your chosen outbound flight.

I've requested 3 different outbound flights at this point and get the same email over and over

Thinking it's time to retire the credit card as it's coming across fairly useless at this point

Has anyone found on AerLingus reward seats that were available to a destination become unavailable. I would have assumed this meant the allocated avoid seats were gone but sometimes they randomly appear back hours/days later.

Is it someone holding the seats or is it just some bot in the background?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 75,483 ✭✭✭✭L1011

If you're going for the main sun holiday spots at relatively short in dates, they'll be gone.

I've been able to redeem for every other attempt I've made. Amsterdam, Berlin, Santiago (twice)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,040 ✭✭✭✭Red Silurian

But there's only certain dates shown as available when filling out the form so presumably people are booking the same dates as me just getting in slightly ahead of me?

Also if the issue is the outbound flight why not give me the option just to change that instead of having to fill out the entire form again?

Edit: I presume you mean Santiago de Compostela in Spain, not the capital of Chile, as they are European Flights?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 75,483 ✭✭✭✭L1011

The form doesn't show available dates, it shows allowable dates as in there are flights and its not in the excluded times

Yes - Aer Lingus doesn't fly to Chile either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,040 ✭✭✭✭Red Silurian

But on the form they show dates as not-available on the days they fly. This can be checked using their own website

Availability is not the same as days on which they fly.

They may very well fly on certain days but that does not mean they make the Credit Card allocation available on all of those days. Particularly weekends and peak demand times.

The possibility that someone has already used the Credit Card allocation is a separate thing.
