What I got out of his short time with us initially anyway was they they looked better as a unit with throws, like they had little set routines that got them out of tight corners eg in the fullback positions, and we often ended up for instance with Trent with the ball at his feet in more space to spray his passes. I might be wrong, but that was what I (thought) I saw, rather than just longer throws.

Any trainer could break down the physics of throwing a football, and train a guy to throw it further, but how much time are you going to spend building up those muscles realistically, and at what cost.

Gutted for Conor, here's hoping he makes a full recovery and is back at 100% come August, no point hurrying him back.

Yeah, the throw in fella wasn't really about making your throw ins physically better (I gather that was a small part of it) -- just like the other set piece coaches, it was much more about improving your chances of maintaining possession and creating chances from throw ins. We went from one of the worst sides in the league in keeping possession on the second ball after a throw in, to the best in the league the season after his improvements. It's far more tactical than physical.

That chap works as a consultant, going around to different clubs for a couple weeks. I'd say it's the same with Arsenal, he'll pop in, do a workshop, and move on.

Can we finally go into market now and replace Trent like we should have. Not a winger in Frimpong, an actual RB Baller

Replace Trent with..... Trent? Won't happen obviously

Just on the rushing Conor back part, obviously if NI make the world cup, he'll be doing everything he can to be there, and that timeline is probably not out of the question. Whatever else, for Bradley I'd love if that was the case.

We could very publicly offer Real their 10m back, just for a laugh

Arnau Martínez was someone Arsenal looked at apparently

I actually forgot they were still alive, throws a spanner in the works a little alright.

If Liverpool could sign the 22/23 year old version of Joe Gomez in January, that would be perfect IMO.

Competent at both RB & CB, strong, pacy, good in the air, comfortable on the ball.

And then just make that player stay fit. Perfect!

Id love it but they got absolutely screwed with the draw

I'd say Liverpool never threw a long throw in the three years after that coach did his sessions. Nearly always retained the ball though and often facing forward on an inside line.

Overall a broken bone is a way better scenario than a ligament tear both in recovery time, and long term impact. The surgery may have included a screw/plate of some sort, not sure how long but you would think he could be back in the gym in 3-4 months, and then try to get his muscle and fitness back without doing further damage. It's a very tight timeline, but he is young, perhaps he could make it. It may be his only opportunity to play in a World Cup so I really hope he can get through it if they do qualify.

If Northern Ireland don't progress though he will probably have a less intense and longer recovery period to get back for pre-season in July sometime.

Was watching Barca and Real last night - Yamal has reached 100 games. Rio has into total 61 PL mins.

One over played and the other not played.

Hansi Flick seems quite a good coach.

Just watching the speed at which both teams moved the ball was refreshing, even if it was a bit zany at times. Comparing it to Liverpools recent showings, its like a different sport

Agreed a refreshing watch compared to what Liverpool.are producing at the moment.

Well we did beat Real Madrid two months ago lads! Not a lucky win either. Well deserved on the night. And that was during our horrible run of losses.

    Best performance of the season

I thought Madrid had another gear to go up to if needed. Was a really good performance don't get me wrong, and at a time we really needed one

But it'd be different in the knock outs I think. I was at the game and didn't think Real were throwing everything at it
