that’s the other thing… the complete lack of even sympathy or empathy for such a needless loss of life. They couldn’t even defend it with an ounce of decorum or sadness. Straight on the attack so cold and callous in trying to justify it. Despicable human beings!!

Not entirely clear why the regime couldn't have just said 'This was a terrible tragedy and will be fully investigated'. It seems they and their supporters have gone so fully down the MAGA rabbit hole that any admission of guilt or wrongdoing would be seen as a huge weakness and therefore an absolute no no.

ICE could probably commit a school shooting next and Trump and his cronies will blame the children. "lotta bad children in that school….. "

Having their bunch of anonymous thugs out creating fear in democratic areas suits them. If they were to acknowledge that ICE made a mistake then changes would need to be made reducing this potential to spread fear. Plus it would also give anti-trump supporters a moral victory and that can not be allowed to happen as they'd just get more uppity!

Miller is hugely into this stuff. I'd imagine hes behind the likes of this. I'm sure hes secretly delighted with the Goebels comparisons.

Trump will be announcing the success of the special military operation from his booth at the White House Italian Steakhouse in Anaheim.

    Belgian FM visiting DC tomorrow.

Belgium calling for a military mission to Greenland that would address US security concerns.

He put the phone in his left hand when he decided to take free up his right hand in order to tgake his gun out. This was done when he was on the passenger side of the vehicle, long before he was supposedly at risk from the driver - still he continued to walk in front of the car.

The point about the ICE militia being sent into Democrat cities (where they are not wanted) is a very pertinent one : clearly an attempt by the regime to intimidate them and 'put manners on them'.

Looking at what has happened with the shooting of Rene Good it has really taken me a back how so many people have tried to justify this.

Not just online trolls and bots, you have a swathe of the US population, the administration the president all involved in exhonorating the shooter and tarring the victim, making up vicious lies about her and assassinating her character.

I have watched the videos shot at different angles, and even if there was an argument of self defence when he fired the first shot ( I don't think there is BTW) when the two subsequent shots were fired he was clearly in no danger whatsoever, his intention was quite obviously to kill her. I believe this was his motive from the start, not because he feared for his life.

IMO The USA is heading down a dark path if this continues. Many people here would say this is all down to one man, I disagree, there is a large portion of the population and the whole MAGA administration that is enabling and pushing all of this, and it's hard to see where this is all going to end.

Having their bunch of anonymous thugs out creating fear in democratic areas suits them.

Which is, of course, the very definition of "domestic terrorism". Funny how no-one in America - and it certainly looks like no-one - cares enough about their precious fossilised Constitution and it's even more precious 2nd Amendment to do anything about it.

Meanwhile, the US government tells Americans in Venezuala to GTFO for their own safety. Is that the same Venezeula that they told us they'd put themselves in charge of until further notice?

It's that kind of detachment that, I think, will be the downfall of this administration. One or other member of the Trump regime will do something monumentally stupid in the civilised world and really piss off people who've been harbouring anti-American sentiment for a long time. And when it happens, the Americans won't be ready for the almighty wallop landed on them.

@Manic Moran - I have done a basic piece of research and now understand who you are and what you are about, and so retract the quoted.

I would refer to my earlier comments though, which were that I appreciate your knowledge and insight, but your posts worry and concern me insofar as you seem to always give the benefit of the doubt to 'enforcement' and - in my view - have not been seen to be critical of 'enforcement', regardless of (nefarious) circumstance.

Will there be mid-term elections? Will he engineer a war or crisis to cancel them?

Apparently kids in Greenland are losing sleep thinking US soldiers will break down their doors.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,155 ✭✭✭saabsaab

A lot of people losing sleep over it. I saw a clip of people in Greenland being stopped in the street most didn't want to talk about it. The reality is that the US military could take Greenland in an hour or two - nobody could stop them. However, holding it could be another matter. The fallout from closed US bases around the world and the closure of US business abroad would be immense.

I'm watching Michael Moore in Trumpland - which came out in 2016. Some of the stuff in it makes you want to check it's not a parody.

One direct quote "Well Trump didnt have it handed down to him like Hilary did, from her parents."

The only thing the ICE Agent could have got treated for in hospital was an itchy trigger finger

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,324 ✭✭✭✭LambshankRedemption

On CNN during the week I heard a former FBI director say that it was normal to bring a police officer or federal agent to hospital if they had been involved in a shooting, even if they had not been injured. It's policy that they get a once over.

Not dissimilar to how air traffic controllers get breathalysed and bloods drawn if a plane they are controlling crashes.

It's just part of the procedure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,285 ✭✭✭✭walshb

yes, but Trump’s cronies tried to frame it like he was hurt/injured due to the “terrorism” he experienced.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,341 ✭✭✭✭aloyisious

That's one thing that has me worried given his faith-adherence and what happened to others under the Nazis. It's like a Hebrew faith member being the person in charge of the SD.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,324 ✭✭✭✭LambshankRedemption

Oh yes I know. Which just makes their argument all the more stupid.

I heard JD Vance's.. what would you call it, tirade? He was dissecting all the moves made mere hours after the incident. All he had to, and all he should have said, all anything anyone in a leadership position should have said was "Obviously details are constantly emerging and we are monitoring this situation carefully while a full investigation is launched".

There are rumours European countries might deploy troops there to deter the US. I think Europe is probably divided though. Some may feel that the Trump threats are a negotiating strategy to get more security there. I suspect an effort to use foreign policy to distract from Epstein.

The most important thing to Trump is money. So the EU should use economic leverage, like the impending passage of the much criticised EU-US trade agreement that forces the EU to have 0% tariffs on US imports, while the US has 15% tariffs on imports from the EU. I think that deal was a sellout by the way. As a carrot, greater access to the vast untapped Greenlandic mineral wealth e.g. uranium, oil, rare earths should be offered.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,852 ✭✭✭Wolf359f

I don't think Trump is bluffing tbh. I can't see how he can backtrack after all the public statements he made about taking Greenland.

If the US Supreme Court makes a ruling next week (or before the US-EU trade deal is passed) then the EU have that economic leverage to pull.

If Trump wants more security in Greenland the US is more than welcomed to open more bases there. There's not much need as Greenland is part of NATO so I can't see Russian or China making a move. Maybe Trump should stop dismissing NATO or stop inviting Russia to invading a NATO member… you know, make NATO a deterrent…. what it was setup as!
He's the one undermining it and at the same time saying Greenland needs to be under US control for protection etc… **** idiot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,900 ✭✭✭threeball

I see the 5 parties in Greenland have released a statement saying they don't want to be Americans, they don't want to be Danes. They want to be Greenlanders.

Firstly, 5 parties for 60,000 is farcical. Secondly, its a very ill advised statement. Ideals are lovely, but when your back is against the wall you don't come out with nonsense like that. Denmark and the EU are more than likely willing to defend the territory but with a statement like that they may think, why put ourselves in harms way. Let them sort it out themselves. Its a monumentally stupid stance when caught between a benign landlord and an aggressive invader.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,656 ✭✭✭eightieschewbaccy

It's absolutely no secret to Denmark that Greenland has never been a fan of being a territory though. So I'm pretty sure it won't impact either the EU's or Denmark's position.

She lost because Trump was more popular. That is how it works.
