because most of the output is dull and most of the listeners don’t post to boards?

    My guesses are

    1. Only a small % of boards users post in the radio forum. There don't appear to be many people from the north using the forum
    2. There isn't a tradition of people south of the border tuning into the radio stations. Maybe if they had been as easy to access as BBC Northern Ireland and UTV in the old days, it might've been different.
    3. Perhaps many Irish people aren't as interested in the north as they like to say they are.
    4. They see Northern Ireland radio in the same light as they do any other local radio station. You aren't going to find many people in Kerry listening to Ocean FM, for example.

I used to listen to Downtown Radio, listening in Sligo and picking up the signal on 96.6 FM until Bauer got their hands on it.

The radio Market in the North is Bland with just a few Networks like Q Radio, Bauer and the BBC. There is very few truly local radio on FM like in the old days and Pirate Radio does not exist. But things are generally getting more interesting with more choice of stations with the Launch of the Derry and Belfast plus the Newry Small Scale DAB networks and the future plans for Coleraine, Ballymena, Mid Ulster, Enniskillen and Ards.

I listen to NI stations but they're DAB golden oldies stations and there's, frankly, nothing much to discuss.

There is very little interest on Boards in anything to do with the North.
