Wow. That was quick. You really need to be on the ball these days to get into most marathons

    Anyone doing this next month?
It's come around quick. Might be too close to Christmas, but dont feel in any shape yet. Hopefully a good January will see me right

I'm going again, not in good shape either. New course is even flatter with the underpass (x2) removed

Struggling to translate the video they posted in Spanish about the underpass, do they say it is removed from the course entirely or just that is has reduced the profile, i.e. we only use it once? Not exactly a mountain but would be nice to know! Would also be nice to get hold of the gpx of the new route to compare with the old one

Where did you see the video? Considering its only 3 weeks away, I'm completely ignorant of the setup.

Usually at this stage, I have my plan made for getting to the start line, and the expo. I'll have watched loads of videos of the course.

For whatever reason, I've done none of that yet. Must get my arse in gear

The underpass is completely removed, as per their Instagram post on December 11. Start line is slightly different, finish line is the same

    Tapering has begun :D

Did 32km as my long run yesterday, and only have 16km to do this weekend. Wont know what to do without all the apprehension all weekend

Just got my race number too. In the 3:15 → 3:30 corral

    Weather looking good for Sunday

2 km winds, and a flat course. Going to be very different from my winter training :D

Had a nightmare time trying to book dinner on Saturday night. Finally got a place, but tried about 15 restaurants before one had tables available

Eat early and avoid the carb rush, I have always just walked into my usual haunt and had plenty of space!

Injured hip so haven't run in over two weeks, feels like two months. Will give it an easy whirl and hope it brings me through Triana and back at least for a fun run!

Well that was an enjoyable race.

Never done a marathon, with what felt like, so many experienced runners. I was in the 3:15 → 3:30 corral, and it didnt feel like there was anyone in there, that shouldn't have been. Definitely a lesson other marathons could learn from

The expo was very easy to get around also.

The route was pretty good. Amazing support, but a pity that the course had a few sections of cobbles and a lot of broken road.

The section around the palace, while great to look at, was very tough on the legs

Loved the multiple narrow sections, where the crowd was right on top of us. Felt like I was riding the Tour De France

Probably took 10km, before there was good space on the course, but with the corrals being well marshalled, it wasn't too impactful

Finish line was great too, as was the entire finish area

The only thing that bothered me, was the arch, with 226meters to go (or something like that). At that stage, I was sprinting to PB. I assumed that was going to be the 42km marker. I know it's tiny, and insignificant now, but at the stage of the race, I was so angry :D

My watch had me at 42.6km. All my friends were around the same. No biggie, as the markers every km made it very easy to keep track of things. Great to see such frequent km markers. Last few marathons that I've run have mainly been about the mile markers

Anyway, I'd totally recommend the race to everyone.
